The only things I've noticed about the mobile version are the inability to upload photos, and that you have to remember what the code for the smileys is. For me, that's not really suicide inducing

4 string - £50 5 string - £100 6 string - £250 + £70 pickups At the moment I'm only taking two basses (the 4 and the 5) so cheap and cheerful on the stuff i'm most likely to knacker

What is your favourite song to play live?

With Malacite, it's Dust... lots of opportunity to throw the Low A in there And theres a little bit of tapping and a bass solo in there too! Plus the outro is just epic In the cover band I always get the biggest buzz out of playing the Metallica tunes (Master Of Puppets, Creeping Death). Playing Cliff Burton basslines takes me back to my teenage days! But I also love playing RATM - Killing In The Name... it always gets everyone dancing! -
He hasn't said very much at all recently.
Indeed! Unless of course our pal Mark clearly forgot to add 'talented medium' to his glowing resume... -
Did anyone see the Mythbusters 'Subwoofer in a car' episode? Wasn't it 162 dB at 12Hz or such similar? Devastating!
Why the hell did I stop watching that show??? -

If it is faulty, and you paid via Paypal you should be able to raise a dispute and get a refund as long as it wasn't a gift payment. Obviously this would be a last resort if the seller doesn't get back to you... Which is very unlikely for here. Good luck!
We could ask him. :-) http://basschat.co.u...888-mark-percy/ CB PS: If you are in need of Summer reading material: http://basschat.co.u...-by-mark-percy/
The plot thickens!! This is the same guy who posted about a hundred times about gear being stolen as a 'personal attack' right? Also this... "Gary Moore has a lot to say about lefties playing right handed guitars." So... what's that then? -
It appears everyone else uses the pa as backup but as I said before that does not really help the OP as he stated he does not have that option!
That's what i get for jumping straight in to talk about what *I* do Well in that case, I would recommend finding a used Markbass head (usually found for £300 - £400) and chuck it in the gig bag... might end up preferring it to your main one!

My amp has a DI on it and there are 2 more on my pedalboard, so until I am rich enough to tick off everything on my GAS list, and then purchase a 2nd amp, that will have to do
Just noticed that there's already a version 2.0 upgrade to the guitar version of this pedal which allows you to use six effects together by allowing you to scroll the screen, rather than three as before. Anybody know if this will be available on the B3 anytime soon? http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/g3/
I've been wondering if they would add that feature, or wait until the 'B3X' to release it... Either way it's an upgrade I'm looking forward to using!

HAving a string tuned to the same pitch as the guiarist's bottom string is very important in metal because of the riffs tending to have a lot of open notes in. Best band for me tuning-wise is Malacite because they play in D standard. It means if I tune my 6 string down 1 step, I've still got a string a 4th below the guitars... And no silly drop tuning!
-
I play 4, 5 and 6 string basses for metal, depending on the song and tuning. So that we're at a happy medium, most of the modern metal covers are in the dreaded drop C# tuning, and I tune back up to Eb for the songs in a standard tuning. Anything in B or drop B, I use my 5 string in standard tuning. My 6 string is tuned a step down to low A, standard tuning, so I mostly use it in my originals outfits

Ive listened to this way too many times already
I wonder if the people that have £1000+ rigs sound better than the ones that don't? With my £500 rig I can play anywhere and sound great. Is it essential to spend more than double that? Not trying to pick a fight, I'm just curious as to the benefits of a £1000+ rig. Mine's reasonably light and compact and I have a good DI and compressor built in to the PF-500. I've upgraded the driver (dont worry, included in the rig value) so I can use it on its own for big pubs and the ME-20b is all I need for pub covers. Truckstop
Best live bass sound I ever heard was a Tobias Toby Pro 4 into an Ashdown MAG 300 and Marshall 4x12... So expensive is definitely not always better!

Have fun today man! Playing live is what this is all about

Nothing incredibly inspiring, but some really nice playing, and I didn't find the slapping got in the way. I agree though, he's not the same in trousers!
I did consider the Stageclix before I bought the g30 and while it ticked all the boxes the thing that put me off was that the receiver is also the charger for the transmitter and my receiver is permanently mounted on my pedal board and only appears at gigs. This meant that I could only charge the transmitter when the pedal board was on stage and plugged in to the mains. Not an ideal situation for me.
It's funny how that exact feature was a major plus for me! Once Ive set up and soundchecked I just leave the thing charging

12lbs is heavy??? My Peavey Grind is over 19lbs!
-
Cheap basses, expensive backline. It's much easier to knock a chunk off something if it's strapped round my neck, than something tucked away safely at the back of the stage! EDIT: never actually worked out how much my rig cost me! A lot of it was bought new... I shall report back... ...just shy of £3000, and that's including my three basses
-
A few players use hair scrunchies and stuff but I find it interferes with open notes. I always rest my thumb one or two strings below what I'm playing which effectively mutes all the low strings... With my fretting hand just about touching every string above. It definitely does a good enough job for me! You may come to a different solution yourself, and im sure others will suggest ways better or easier than mine! I find it's something that comes naturally with practicing in my experience, and is less trouble than it might appear to be at first.... My issue was hitting the wrong string a lot when I first made the switch! Hope your shiny new 6er arrives soon so you can start having fun with all the new options available to you
Yep discreet beat me to it. Surgical spirit works wonders. If I havent played for a few days I brush a few layers of Loctite on my fingertips before a gig to stop the skin breaking. Works well for me and I dig in heavily.
My uncle told me about this trick, apparently it's a good method if you gash your finger open before a gig! Tried it myself but I found my fingers didn't 'stick' to the strings as much as im used to!
