Louis Johnson reckons he developed the style on his own without ever hearing Graham play.
Sounds like a poor excuse

I had a look at these the other day actually, they look REALLY good, and cheaper than buying two virtual batteries!

Just to add to this, I have massively reduced the amount of noise I get with mine thanks to some help from various people. Some of the problem was that other parts of my setup were creating noise and it was coming through much clearer through the wireless than a cable. I also tried mine on an outdoor gig and noticed hardly any noise at all, definitely useable!

Good stuff! Customer service certainly seems to be getting better most everywhere in recent years
Cheers I will just keep practicing and hopefully in 37 years I can still be insecure LOL. Mind you I will be the oldest rocker in town by then
Listen to some isolated bass tracks by some of your favourite players if they're out there. Listening to Cliff Burton and John Myung's playing totally 'naked' certainly made me feel better

Damn I was hoping for some fashion tips
Out of that whole set, there isn't a single song i don't like, so that sounds like one damn good (and sweaty) night to me. Liam

Agreed. Immense choice of songs.
Cheers guys, maybe I'll catch you at one sometime our vocalist is a pretty good performer too, loads of fun!
In the meanwhile I'm just having fun doing some bass covers on youtube, but I'm really sick of playing on my own.. I have 2 auditions incoming, so hopefully at least one end up working out for me.
One thing I didn't miss about bands when i got back into them was how much harder it is to make sure the bass is audible You'll have to post a link to your youtube channel up i love checking out bass covers!
-
I was bandless for about 6 months just before my son was born and I wasn't sure if I'd play again either... But here I am! If you don't want to stop playing, don't. Bass players are in pretty high demand, you've just gotta find the right band! Good luck
P. S. cheers to whoever reported me for my See You Next Tuesday quip. My post has been deleted as has that evil word from our minds.... oh no you're thinking it. Be gone Satan.
This guy maybe? Where do you wear your wireless transmitter?
chrismuzz replied to MacDaddy's topic in Accessories and Misc
They do wireless basses now? Are they Bluetoof compatible? Seriously, I don't ever see a need to go wireless until I start playing stadia. I don't ever see a need to go wireless.
I probably don't "need" one, but the amount of times i've pulled the lead out of my pedalboard and made a horrible noise... Plus the novelty of having wireless -
It's a nut, not a zero fret. It's relief, not concavity. It's plywood, not mahogany.
Words to live by
most of his feedback score is for buying ladies clothing and parts for his delightful instruments.
I'm not going to think too deeply into that...

I'd try a different pedal with it, otherwise you'll get extra mid scoop. Most if not all über cheap drive pedals sound great combined with a Sansamp/BDI21. First things that come to mind are Marshall Jackhammer, Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive, any kind of Rat, and even the Boss ODB3! Try and borrow a few if you can

I've got a bug type one so switching basses is a quick and easy job. I've seen pros with them on their strap, on their belt, or with a lead! -
5 string players - what gauge strings do you use?
chrismuzz replied to TRBboy's topic in Bass Guitars
Yeaa I have no need to use much A as bottom string but use Bb a lot. Apart from that I still play the normal tuning (just drop C) but my opinion is that each bass / guitar player has to find tune suiting him but not to learn techniques to suit the standard tuning used by most musicians. In the end this what make you different from others, and of course the skill. Isn't it?
That would definitely take some getting used to! Drop tunings on a 4 string are confusing enough sometimes Tried a few alternate tunings before , but I feel most comfortable just having lots of basses in different standard tuning -
With my aggressive right hand technique as opposed to softly stroking the strings like i'm supposed to, I often get told I play bass and sound differently to most other players. I've even had a punter approach me after a gig to say he's never really paid attention to bass before that night! Maybe by doing something wrong, you're doing something right
-
They really do! The first time I tried Stainless Steel strings I finally got that aggressive clanky tone that I'd been chasing for years!

This is a bass lesson by Flea that is aimed at absolute beginners. I think it's really good and goes into loads of detail! I even watched the whole thing myself recently just because I found it quite enjoyable to have on in the background http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Avf2S5MOEeg
