2.
My powers of self-control in not writing what I'm thinking are growing by the day.
3.
errr with respect... the guy is still calling me an arsehole in PM's if you have a problem with the thread dont login
If the shoe fits...
  4.
Respectfully mate, I'd stop with the sniping now. You've made your point, the seller has accepted his mistake in the original listing and offered to make a contribution to resolve things, and is now offering a full refund, which seems [s]plenty[/s] more than reasonable to me. Think everyone should bow out with a bit of dignity still intact and maybe the mods should put a lid on this now.
+1 Much respect SidV.
  5. I either run my entire pedalboard (finishing with the Zoom B3) straight into AKG headphones which gives me a very good representation of my actual tone... But if I cant be arsed to spend ages setting up, I just use the headphone out on my Marshall B25
  6.
SOLD ELSEWHERE
Did you sell it on the Effects For Sale section instead then? Oh wait!
  7.
Tony Levin
Most. Compression. Ever.
  8.
Sorry?! What is going on here? Someone asks a question, and people can actually be bothered to moan about the question being asked, rather than answer it/ give a relevant opinion? If you can't say something nice/amusing/witty/informative, then why bother? (*off topic excluded ) Have you really got that much time to kill...
It can be such a touchy subject due to all the unnecessary judgements based upon whether a bassist uses a pick or not... Its natural for people to get defensive about it. I used to look down upon pick players when i was a teenager, but all it did was close the door to a certain approach as I can now only play proficiently with my fingers!
  9.
This delightful young lady uses her fingers - she has both groove and respect. And a penis.
But then she clearly has it all... This is tough!
  10.
Ha! If finger players are more respected then pick players are cooler that's how respect and coolness work
Damn, that's the best argument I've read yet!
  11. ^^^ What he said
  12. I use a compressor to make my bass tighter, and to keep the level even so if I try a little tapping I don't have a massive drop in volume, and if i beat the hell out of the B string I don't blow everyone off the stage 5im0n's response pretty much answers your question perfectly
  13.
Here's my band playing one of our regular slots. Sorry you had no luck this time!
That's the first time I've ever seen this song covered well.. And it's bloody awesome! Well done

Welcome Chris! Northampton bass players are the best around You may be a relatively new player, but being a member here will give you a big headstart! Your current bass and amp might not be on the most expensive end of the spectrum but they're both solid and awesome sounding bits of kit that will look after you for many years!
  15.
I also have a Status that doesn't look like a 'typical' Status, does the fact that it has a Status logo make it uncool?
I dunno. That is definitely cool in my book and I normally despise the things!
  16. Uh oh, dood's on another gear quest
  17. This intrigues me! Are there any teaser tracks out there yet?
  18.
yes my iphone was set up for that account which now has been changed and i have asked a mod if its possibly to delete that account
That's completely believable, I never have to use a password on my iPhone as it keeps me logged in. Wonder how long it'll be before this gets locked!
  19.
Of course, the really cool kids would then just bang their dicks on the strings. Nothing more manly than that. Not with an effects board.
WIlliam Murderface does it it MUST be cool
  20. I can play the music I want to play very well with a my fingers. I'm absolutely disgraceful with a pick. just cannot do it. So if finger players are better than pick players, where do I stand in all of this?
  21.
For all my music life I’ve seen so many bassists playing slow beat music with a pick, and I questioned myself plenty of time, why do they do that? I can understand when some music genres (e.g. death metal) mostly require a bassist to play 16[sup]th[/sup] and 32[sup]nd[/sup] notes which might be a bit too fast for fingers. As for soundung itself, a decent effect pedal board or processor can turn a bass sound into any tone wanted. So IMO finger play is more respected, apart from few exclusions. No offence to pick-style bassists
You prefer fingerstyle, go for it! So do I
I can play with fingers to a degree but I just don't enjoy it as much most of the time.
This is an extremely valid reason, even if it's a player's only reason. If it's fun, DO IT
  22. You don't necessarily have to pick with your fingers in any particular order, sometimes different patterns or rhythms will work better if you just play them however your hands kind of want you to. DON'T OVERTHINK! In fact sometimes you don't want to think at all! Your mind is your biggest distraction. If i'm playing straight 8th notes I might do something like 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 ...... However if it's a faster pattern i might bring a 3rd finger in so it's more 3 2 1 3 2 1 3 2 1 3 2 1..... But then if i'm doing a 3 note gallop, rest, single note, rest it will be more 3 2 1 , 2 , 3 2 1 , 2 .... And that's just on one string! So with my rambling outta the way... Just do whatever is easiest, and most comfortable. You'll master it quicker and it won't seem like such a chore!
  23. Sadly, pick players still get ragged on sometimes because it's seen as 'easier'... However if you heard me play with one you will probably think otherwise You can groove with either, and how talented (or well practiced) a player can be isn't affected by whether they use their fingers or a pick. However I think playing with your fingers does give you moren flexibility, as different types of stroke can give you a totally different sound.. From a light soft touch, to a sharp aggressive strike. If you want to be totally versatile learn both ways... But the golden rule would be to just do whatever YOU want. Whether it be because its easier, you prefer the sound, or just because you think it looks cooler! EDIT: Oh!... And right hand muting is SO MUCH EASIER if you play with a pick!
  24. Well I'm glad to hear you don't need to get rid of it now dude good to know its gonna be getting played too!
  25. Man it's unbelievable that this thing is still here! If only you lived closer... I would try to hypnotise you into trading my 104HF for it
