1. The more I see this over the last few months the more I like it. Keep it, Shockwave!
2. I think Metallica play in Eb live sometimes, no other reason than it sounds a bit heavier I think!
3. Isn't that bass worth more than they're selling it for?
4. As far as rack systems go I can only recommend the line 6 relay one... I think it's the G90? Quite pricey but you don't lose your tone, or those ultra low frequencies. EDIT: about £500 though!
5.
If Brubaker want a 3 gig in school a year man to represent them in Scotland, I'm your man!
Only if you're black
6.
Usually a company, if it has all the components, may endorse a band, but by and large its individual artist. Endorsing bands makes little pocketbook sense, unless you know the band is already famous or they will be together forever. So if a company makes guitars, basses and amps, or like Fender, owns brands for each instrument, then it may make sense to endorse a band, but even so that normally includes individual artists in it. Doesn't make sense to endorse say, Bela and the Flecktones, but then have Vic Wooten spend most of his time as a solo artist with completely different endorsements. If a bassist plays in two bands, and both are good projects, a company would try to lock them up for their gear, so it isi seen in two bands. The one thing that most players who ask for endorsements seem to miss is that we are not endorsing you for your talent, but for your exposure and your ability to generate enough buzz to make some sales. So, if you are the first chair bassist for the London Symphony Orchestra, I'm probably not going to give you an endorsement because you wouldn't be likely to generate electric bass sales, even if you do play electric. If you are the bass player chosen to tour with a major artist, like Madonna for example, I might not give you and endorsement either because you will barely be seen onstage and on top of that few people even have a clue who plays bass for Madonna. Now, if you are in a band, say Artctic Monkeys, I'm more likely to give you an endorsement because I know you are integral to the band and that you will be seen and heard on stage. A company is even likely to give you some level of endorsement (say, artist pricing) if you are in a very popular local band and everyone in the area knows you, Mr. Bass Player. If we can get product in your local shops, and you go to the shops and people like you, you are more likely to generate a bass sale. So fame and fortune is not necessarily the key. I had a local player approach me for an endorsement recently, and after doing my homework found out that several shops had stocked the bass brand he uses because kids were coming in and asking for them because they saw him playing them and he took time to speak to the kids after shows. Think I didn't sign him up?
Very interesting, thanks!
7.
The most useful things that me and my band could have would be a decent van and a fuel subsidy but I don't see that happening....
Strings?
8. I would try contacting someone at Peavey on the off chance that they'll be able to steer you in the right direction. Send it to Peavey USA though... The UK division are bloody hopeless!
9.
It would no doubt spout some b*ll*cks about brand identity and marketing.
To be fair though I can't think of any other brands that have red silk at both ends
10. The silks I found come loose quite easily, whereas on some other brands they're much more nicely put together
11.
Interesting. How ever I have found that often companies don't treat their artist the same way as normal customers. Maybe thinking "ah right, he's part of the "familly", he can wait a bit..." or what ever.. I will not name any one in order to keep this debate clean, but is it normal to wait 8 month for a bass (which is fully paid)? when delivery time is usually 3/4 month... and you've been told many times "yours is next on the line..." I can undestand that for a company it is more interesting to sell more basses, full price.... but when a bass is paid.... it should be delivered... that's it!!.... just my two cents... I ended up having to do a tour with a fender jazz bass, cuz the bass was not delivered on time.... big shame...
If be pretty pissed if I was in that position, and would probably consider taking my endorsement elsewhere
12. Slowing it down always works for me. If you slow one section down, listen to it once, stop, then go over it in your head super slowly, making sure that you've got the rhythm and the notes in your head solidly.... You'll then be ready to listen to it, and nod/him along to it at the slower speed, then start playing along to it! Once you've got it down you can start slowly speeding up
13. I was hoping for box sets of the boyband Five
14.
Give Dean Markley Blue Steels a go lad. Similar enough to Roto's feel wise but IMO they are infinitely superior in the tone department.
They look good but ouch they're a lot more expensive than my preferred brands! Might check em out as a little treat sometime though

SOLD

Would love one of these one day!
16.
Just gigged with the VJ. What a bass! Maybe another Modulus will do the trick.
I'm a brand loyalty kind of guy, so if I was in your position I would get another Modulus if it really is that good!
17. These are nice basses, kind of glad you're not selling it or I might've been tempted! Be really interesting to see how this develops, have fun with it
18. I actually like tougher strings too, my fingers... Kind of slip off the smoother ones especially when I start to sweat! Still, don't like rotosoubds either. Nothing really wrong with them they just don't work for me sound wise
19. You can remove posts but not topics
20.
This happens a fair bit in my punk covers band. Playing Hurry up Harry by Sham 69, or So What by the Anti Nowhere League, we often get someone (often a bit the worse for wear) ask "Do you play any Kings of Leon?" The singer usually replies with a question himself. "What do you think?"
Thankfully we haven't been asked to play any Kings Of Leon. Not sure it would sound good in between Raining Blood and Battery anyway...
21.
Well at least now I know it's not just my imagination! On other forums I've seen a lot of love for the suggested settings. Didn't mind them too much until it came to a band situation. Then they were awful....non-existant in the mix.
The suggested settings are probably more intended for going straight into the desk with. Never used it that way myself, I go into my amps input, which I'm assuming is what you're doing?
22. Whenever we get requests for a song we don't know, our vocalist says "Next gig! Be there "
23. I found the suggested settings on the Sansamp BDDI weren't to my liking either. Always got the best results by starting with all the controls flat, and just making a tone from scratch. Not the answer you were looking for but I hope it helps
24.
(And now I'm waiting for Discrete to come along and say "ooh, boobs for starters, eh? What do you have for the main course?")
My boss is gonna get suspicious if I keep bursting out with laughter like this
