1.
Wrap your cable around one of your speaker handles before plugging it into your amp.
I use wireless from my bass to pedalboard, and a lead from the pedalboard to amp. I still do the cable wrapped round the speaker handles thing! I also duct tape the lead to the floor. You can never be too careful! To he OP, dont forget to wrap the lead around your strap button too! Prevents it being pulled out of your bass!
2.
Through body stringing may change the "compliance" (how the string feels) but for the same string unit mass and tuning it won't have any effect on the tension.
+100000 I prefer through body because the string FEELS less floppy. If your right hand technique is heavy you'll notice a difference more, most players won't.
3. Nope you didn't dream it! It's definitely planned to come along some time. Wasn't dood going to be moderating it?
4. +1 If it hadn't been nabbed already I was actually going to buy it myself at that price, even though I've already got a 'real' Sansamp AND a zoom B3
5. I'm not a proper bass player even when i am on a 4 string
6. Most people prefer not to use a compressor before it so that when they dig in they get more drive, but I like consistency to make up for my less than consistent playing
7. Either will be acceptable, try them both and see which sounds better! The amp won't be totally flat anyway, but I guess keeping it flat would be a better representation of the sound. You could even just use headphones!
8. I use mine after a compressor, sometimes with a touch of a different overdrive pedal after it! Then it goes straight into the input on my amp. Sounds amazing! Some people go into their FX return instead but i prefer it this way
9. Thanks for the heads up! Gonna try and arrange a day out with the lady followed by this in the evening
10. Foderas can be such ugly basses... But this is one of the most beautiful things I have EVER seen
11.
what do you guys think of there 115 combos seems to be quiet a few out there? any favs? andy
Don't know if they would be gig worthy, but they sound niiiiiice!
12.
Strap on.
I really need to grow up
13. Most basses will sound good CGCF if you have a heavy enough string. Nothing less than a .110 on the low string (in my opinion) Then again, you cold also try a 5 string tuned to CEADG which is a bit funny to get used to at first but works very well! And if you want a bass in standard tuning, just whack the C down to B and voila!
14. I used to hate P's too... Love the sound of them now, but they just don't fit my style at all!
15. Background noise of a football match on telly at the office... Only just turned around to realise England are playing *yawn*
16. For a bass that's supposed to look thrashed it's in pretty good nick
17. Zoom B3 is a vast improvement on the B2
18. I feel more at home on a 6 string, so I play one as much as possible. With the cover band, we go from Eb standard tuning, to playing in drop C#... So I just use a 4 string and drop the bottom string up and down so that I don't need an extra bass (drop tunings are too weird with an extra string below it!) I've got a 5 string, but strangely it confuses the hell out of me still
19. I got my Peavey 4 string for £50 and I've had it for about 8 years now!
20. Hartke is also worth a look! With your current amp is it a combo? Or are the head and cabinet seperate parts?
21. Personally I like Ashdown a lot, never owned one though so I don't know what reliability is like... but apparently their customer service is great! You could certainly do worse!
22. You could get plenty of suitable setups for that if you're lucky What's your current amp?
23. Awesome amps these are 500w though!
24. A few guys on TB emailed in and they all got pretty vague responses basically saying that they dont know if they will be releasing an update, but would pass their comments on to the development team.
25. I really like Peavey gear. Loud, good sounding to m ears. Very reliable and good value for money. Only real downside is that it's so heavy!
