1. Well, I looked closely at more 1605 pictures, and it seems the bad cut around the pickups is "standard" on this one because of the burltop... I called the store and changed for a 1205, at least I won't have to worry about wood parts flying off on this one
2. I've been keeping an eye for quite a while on these premium SR, finally ordered a 1605, I really hope the cuts in the wood are not as bad as the one Andrea had. I'd be really disappointed for the price tag of this bass... Anyway, I ordered on 06/24, hope the store get it soon. There's absolutely no store in the whole France who has one... Sometimes I feel I should have went with the 1205 instead of waiting for weeks... Anyway, I'll post here once I get it, hopefully it's as premium as it's supposed to be.
3. Buy yourself the "Transcribe!" software, this is an awesome utility. I use it all the time. You can slow down a song file to any speed you want, set loops, change tuning. You can also write text that will move along the timeline of the sound file. What I do is slow down complex parts to tab it myself, slow enough to figure out what the hell is going on. Then I write a text tablature for that specific part, and I put it in the text section at the specific time. This makes for really easy practising of songs.
4. First, absolutely avoid recording through a webcam's mic, that's the worse thing to do I don't know if you can get the recorded audio files from amplitube to the computer, but if you can, you can then synchronize the file with the original song (with bass mostly EQ'ed out). As for video, you need to use some video editing software to cut the sound from your recorded video and then sychronize your final sound file with the video. That's not the most efficient way to do it, but that's the way I do it. The best way of course is to have a sound card with instrument input and record everything at once and have a perfectly finished video, but this takes some preparation, and also you can't work on your sound afterward. 5. Hello, if you want to check out some of my bass covers, here's my youtube channel : http://www.youtube.com/user/Meteorotaki/videos All of my videos were recorded with a line 6 UX1 soundcard, Musicman Bongo 5 HS, Yamaha RBX 374, Yamaha RBX 375 selfmade fretless or Yamaha RBX JM John Myung signature
6. I'm bandless since august of 2011, yeah that's a pretty long time... I've had a lot of contact over internet, some ended in auditions. One band had 2 guitards that played the volume war game, one other band had a keyboardist that never practise and learn the songs in rehearsal while everybody wait, took him one hour. I left those bands after 2 rehearsals. I'm kind of getting desperate to find the good band, but I know I will find one that I will be really happy with, just not sure when. In the meanwhile I'm just having fun doing some bass covers on youtube, but I'm really sick of playing on my own.. I have 2 auditions incoming, so hopefully at least one end up working out for me.
7. the Polytune works well and is designed for up to 6 strings bass
8. In the past I used to never be satisfied with my straps, and I tried a lot, even a comfort strapp, which I found really disappointing... until I tried the minotaur padded leather straps, those are made in Greece, you can buy them on their website.. I bought 2 of them a year ago and I never looked at another strap http://minotaur.gr/
9. Well if someone was looking for an awesome true bypass pedal tuner, I would suggest the TC Electronics Polytune, I have it and love it, works for 4 5 and 6 strings, can tune strings individually or alltogether since it's polyphonic. The only thing I would have liked that it doesn't have is the ability to not cut the sound when the tuner is engaged
10. I'm in the same boat about steel strings, I hate the sound of them... My favourites are daddario's and ernie balls, also I just ordered some labella 45-128 strings to test them as some people recommended them
11. I also have the relay G30, this thing is 100% transparent, and as stated earlier it might get tricky when you go too far, at 30m from your amp the sound takes 100ms to travel About effects, I use an MXR Blowtorch, M80 DI/Distortion, boss chorus and cry baby bass and it just works perfectly. The receiver is an integrated part of my pedalboard and is even powered by the same power source as all my other pedals
