1.
Wow thanks for that reply, but I still just want a pedal that make a donk sound. As I never want to stand behind a keyboard!! I'm a bass player!!
This one sounds quite donk-ey:
  2.
Mine came with D'addarios, do you have coloured ball ends?
No, but some of my strings do
  3. My top tip would be to first scan though the whole piece and look for any tricky rhythms or intervals, and work out how to get those under your hands before they pop up to bite you in real time!

    Latency

I use a super-basic 2-channel interface but it has a "direct monitoring" button which I use when tracking, so I don't put any of the recorded-to track back into the monitor mix - but I send some to a reverb bus and crank that up: latency isn't really an issue monitoring the reverb bus for me (it's delayed anyway), but you could always reduce the reverb pre-delay to compensate!
  5.
The firs module(the one you see on the bass) is the "Bypass" module. As the name suggests, you have basic controls(independent volume and tone for each pickup, 3-way pickups selector switch) with the added feature to completely bypass the tone controls and routing the pickup directly on the output. You have a sort of boost for soloing. The "Recording" module add the possibility to split and combine the coils of the two humbuckers and put them in phase or out of phase.
More info on the modules - including schematics - here! http://www.shergold.co.uk/modules.html
  6.
https://www.youtube....h?v=o3e3w48rZrw
Just listened to the first third of that - great!
  7. Ooh, I found out I've got tickets for a show in January. Will report back on bass levels!
  8. It's not an ego thing - the benefit is for all users of the marketplace. It shows us that X is a trusted seller and/or buyer, and promotes confidence.
  9.
I don't know how JH can get so excited about the endless roster of identikit, dull as ditchwater indie bands and earnest singer-songwriterly types.
The facade of hyperbole slips occasionally. I recall one episode featuring a standard-lowering performance from Glasvegas, and Jools's compering was along the lines of "the wonderful X", "the amazing Y", and.... "Glasvegas".
  10. Nice! If it were short scale and local...
  11.
After checking out their price tags... I think the farther I am from further Wal contact, the better
(Re-) mortgage rates are very low at the moment
  12.
what he said
Yep, theory is largely about a common language, so if you're ever going to make music with anyone else - or even make notes (in whatever form) for future reference, it'll help!
  13. I've certainly never seen one in such inculcate condition!
  14.
I think it's also an advantage to just sit and listen and not be watching faders or EQ graphs when deciding what needs to be tweaked.
Absolutely! On a Mac there's a handy keyboard shortcut (typing this on a PC so can't visualise it!) to switch off the display, which I try to do when I want to stop "listening with my eyes"!
  15. Hm, this isn't helping my "a short scale noodle machine to live beside the sofa would be nice" GAS!
  16.
For £10k you'd think he'd post more than three mediocre pictures....

nah, the photos are in keeping with the rarity of the bass lol!
Like that ultra-precious guitar of Nigel Tufnel's, you're not allowed to look! http://youtu.be/P-NgeXl-PPA
  17. Andy Partridge isn't impressed: https://twitter.com/xtcfans/status/783633659697987585
  18. Sh*t hot. (Only half of that is true.)
  19.
Failed Guitarist here too. Pick playing, far too many notes, far too fast and far too loud. The way I figure, if you are constantly playing away from the root notes and adding melodic tension, then you can claim that whatever you just played wrongly as deliberate...
That's jazz!
