I have the same S XXXXXXX (seven digit) serial number jazz. Does someone have proper explanation for that kind of numbering ?
The first two characters indicate the *approximate* year of manufacture: S8 is 1978 (seventies, 8), E4 is 1984 (eighties, 4) etc. I say approximate because it's not quite that simple! More info here: https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/articles/212774746
  2. Yes, imagine Back Door without the talent... :-D
  3. My first band started out as guitar/bass/keys/drums/sax, we lost the guitar and added trumpet (doubling mandolin). Then we lost the keys and trumpet and carried on with just bass, drums and sax - and did more gigs with that lineup than the other two combined!
  4. I blame the internet! What you see is what you pay online, and that's spread to bricks and mortar. Otherwise people would look at the list-priced (but haggle-able) item in the shop and say, nah, I'll just get it online.
  5.
I know it's hardly been on sale for more than 24 hours... but I'm amazed someone hasn't grabbed it yet. What a fantastic looking bass.
It would make a lovely big brother for my antigua Strat! Good job I don't like Jazzes
  6.
Three pages in and nobody's mentioned the bloke who wrote Thriller was from Skegness. And died recently.
That's coz he was from Cleethorphes.
  7.
My brother then bought me a police box set some years later and I love it.
Cool!
  8.
Only just seen this thread, so fleabay link is dead.
Scroll down and the original details are still there...
  9.
Jamareo Artis. Also a decent cover here: https://vimeo.com/186293648
With a link to a transcription in the description - nice!

    Gibson ES175.
I'd be happy to give you £1k for it.
I'll have it for £950!
  11. Really enjoying these clips, thanks folks!
Hadn't seen that. Wardrobe malfunction.
And it took put her off performing for three decades!
  12.
I use TuxGuitar. Put it in as Tab and it populates the score for you (I can read music as well). Should be available for any OS (its a Java application I think) and it is Free. If I want to print out a tab or score from it, I export to Lilypond and edit/convert to PDF in Frescobaldi.
Nice to find another Lilypond/Frescobaldi user! (Although I've recently defected to Notion as it runs on iOS.)
  13.
Two pages of Sting-stuff, and nobody's mentioned his Tantric bonking yet! What's happened to Basschat??!!
Ah yes, tantric sex is like a visit from a shoddy courier - you stay in for ages and no one comes!
  14. I was recommend to use a glass-fibre eraser - I bought one from Maplins but haven't tried it yet!
  15.
The aged process is expensive.
Well, it takes a long time
  16. Sounds like you want a Tilt EQ- plenty of software options (e.g. http://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2016/5/9/three-tilt-eq-plug-ins-i-love) but rarer in the real world!
  17.
Green buses drive fast always .
Haven't heard that one! For the treble clef, the classic is Every Good Boy Deserves Favour, and the bass clef version I learnt was the less-than-satisfactory Good Boys Deserve Favour Always.
  18. Pen and paper is always great for getting stuff down quickly, and software is great for verifying you've got it right - especially useful for those pesky rhythms! So I'm firmly in the "both" camp. With a big +1 for Notion if you have an iPad - in fact the ability to use it on the move and at home was what what tipped me over into buying an iPad!
  19.
Imagine there's no drumers ?
It's oh so quiet...
  20.
I know a few drumers , i have to say
You may say I'm a drumer, but I'm not the only one.
  21. What's wrong with being sexy? ;-)
  22. Peace Beyond Passion for me... it's so good I'm almost scared to listen to the other albums!
  23.
Faster than fast ! ;-)
Thank goodness! I was beginning to lose the "but it's got too many strings" argument with myself!
