1.
Will this turn into yet another thread critical of Adam Clayton's bass playing ?
I hope not... he gets a lot of stick for chugging root-note quavers, but this one caught my ear because it was something different from that.
 2. In a cafe and the track in the title is playing... and I'm enjoying the bass line! That's all.
 3. Big discounts on Eventide plugins: https://www.eventideaudio.com/specials/holiday-sale?utm_source=eblast&utm_campaign=holiday-sale-fb-eblast&utm_medium=email&utm_content=holiday-sale-fb-eblast
 4. Time for the traditional thread highlighting new ways to empty your wallet, starting with: Toontrack are selling Superior Drummer at $105, down from $349: https://www.toontrack.com/black-friday/
 5.
It's called an 'anacrusis'
It depends A strict definition of an anacrusis might insist that it's unstressed, ahead of the downbeat - whereas here it's the stressed beat that's been brought forward.
 6.
I offered up 'Anacrusis' as a potential band name, a couple of years ago, but nobody else would have it!
Anna Crusis would be a good stage name!
 7. I'd say "It's syncopated" as a catch-all term for "not on the beat".
 8.
+1 for Reaper no 'trial version' or 'performer edition' or "lite' crap.
'Lite' versions can be useful, especially for the new-to-DAW user who might be overwhelmed by the raft of options in a full-blown DAW. Just having the essential features makes for a much simpler introduction to the way of things.
 9. With a left-hand pattern of 1-2-4 1-2-4 1-2-4 1-2-4 1-3-4, with 1 and 2 spanning a major second in the first two groups. This allows the full two octaves to be played with only position shift on a four-string, or without changing position on a five-string.
 10.
The Dreaming and Aerial for me. Fantastic. .. 50 words for snow leaves me cold, never got hounds of love either.
Ooh, as a fellow Dreaming-lover and Hounds-whateverer, now I want to check out Aerial. (Note to self: in the 21st century it's possible to do this via Spotify/YouTube without buying it!)
 11. Hm, I'm also different - IMO (of course), there's a gradual progression through the first four albums, peaking with The Dreaming. Nothing grabbed me that much after that (I haven't heard Ariel or later). I feel the same way about Peter Gabriel - those first four albums are fantastic, although no. 4 was the least of them. I think they both got a lot less interesting when they reached the "I can do whatever I like in my own studio" level.
 12. Here's one I just heard in a cafe, for the first time in decades! It's quite a bit funkier than I remember it... http://youtu.be/rCKkJvcRNbg
 13. That's sad, I was a customer when I lived in south-west London. My two main basses are still held up by Chandler-branded straps!
 14. Thom bought my Ashdown dual band compressor, came to collect and paid cash - what more could one ask?
 15. So, fleabag, which of those is your favourite? :-D
 16.
I can't think of any other tunes/pieces/cues with a 6/8+3/4 combination? 19.
Only made number 15 in the UK but was massive in Europe. http://youtu.be/4mtfnfQoAco
Ah yes, and the Canon was Pachebel's only hit!

 21.
4/4 for me overall but this was always one of my favourites for a weird one ..i have know idea what the time signature is but when i have played it its hard not to turn it into 4/4...anyone no what it is ? https://www.youtube....h?v=ul0zDWThUQQ
Sounds like alternating 7/8 and 4/4 - or you could call it 15/8.

 23.
I love what other people do with 5/4 but I struggle with writing anything in it.
I get an idea first, then work out what time sig it's in later!
