Last gig i played there were Squier, Musicman, German Custom Warwick and MIA Fender basses, along with Behringer, Warwick, Ampeg and EBS amps. From the guitar side of things there was Gibson, Epiphone, Fender, ESP LTD, Dean, Mesa/Boogie, Marshall, Blackstar, Peavey, Orange and Randall. Bare in mind none of these are realy boutique, except maybe the Warwick and Muiscman, but still quite high end for the most part. Liam
Where was the gig, HW Audio? looks like a music shop in there.
Manchester Academy 3, there were 5 bands on. Us (A Little Bit Outlaw), So Called Friends, 7 Day Weekend, Neon Sarcastic and That Sunday Feeling, all who had a hefty amount of gear, except us.
Why didn't you just use the SVT?
Didn't do that because i wanted to give my Warwick a real gig test, it normally only gets used through a 1x12 PA cab when we don't need our PA so i wanted to see how it sounded through a nice beast of a cab. Glad i did actually, as its changed my mind on wanting to get a new head with a good overdrive, as it sounded damn good and had alot of punch without being oved the top, which is what i'm after. Liam

I'm quite low with my strap. I play fingerstyle so i like my strings at arms reach, and i have pretty long arms. Liam

@LiamPodmore here, not been on in a while though, i might go on and have toot what the famous people are up to. Liam

This isnt actually my rig (Not fully anyway) but my Warwick ProFet 5.1 through an Ampeg 810 that i used tonight. Best sound i've EVER had playing live, makes me want an 810, but i can't afford nor have the space or need for one, so i may have to wait. Liam

I am wondering how he's still alive. It was quite a good watch actually, and his tone is MONSTROUS! Liam

I emailed them about my old Squier and they reccomended the HB7's so that would be my guess. Liam

Vocalist in my band uses an Electrovoice Cobalt CO9, quite a good mic for what we payed, i prefer it the SM58's we've used in the past. Liam

I think its lack of sale is down to Ashdown's previous small head offerings, which were in all fairness, pure sh*te, and thats coming from an Ashdown fan. I'll admit, i have had a limited experience with the superfly and little giant, but the concensus seems the same. Liam

I tend to write on Guitar Pro, so i can get a rough idea of how parts sound together and stuff. Liam

Small pub gig on saturday night. Us (A Little Bit Outlaw), a support act (Arrested in Moscow, not the best but not that bad) and Acoustic Opener (Jordan Allen, really like this guy) all organised by us. We sold 120 tickets which is all we were allowed due to capacity limits, but the turnout wasn't the best. Some incidents, few arseholes fighting (Teen audience) which put abit of a downer on the whole thing. I don't think we could have performed any better musically, but the crowd just weren't feeling it for the most part. We also took the oppertunity to throw out some new little things for abit of fun, which included a samba breakdown in one of our originals, and the Pokemon theme tune. Liam

Bowling For Soup - Girl All The Bad Guys want. Had to learn it twice in 1 week as i learnt it on a 5 in standard then on a 4 in drop D, wasnt exactly hard to do, just a tad annoying. Liam

Trying to understand the lingo? Acronyms explained!
LiamPodmore replied to Johnebass's topic in Introductions
FTW is also a band called For The Weekend. Another few acronyms you may come across are Squier VM (Vintage Modified) or CV (Classic Vibe) and RW (Road Worn) may pop up every so often too. There are also many for Fenders diferent finishes, ie CAR (Candy Apple Red) but i'm not going through all of those, as there are quite a lot. Liam -
Pic 1: 2007 Ibanez GSR200, now converted to a passive p bass (vol/tone) and including more stickers. Cost me £150 in '07. (Pic taken august 2010) Pic 2: Ibanez GSR200 again, this time strung BEAD as it was the time when Fender were replacing my 5 (Took them 10 weeks) along with my guitarists Line 6 Lowdown LD150. Its a good little combo, but is really struggling to put out the volume in our recent gigs. The cards were also because it was my 15th Birthday, was only last year. (Pic taken May 15th 2010) Pic 3: 2010 Squier Deluxe Jazz V Active, my main gigging bass. Cost me £170 for an '07 shop floor model, that one broke so Fender UK sent me the 2010. (Pic taken September 24th 2010) Pic 4: 2007 Squier Deluxe Jazz V Active, this is the one that broke so Fender replaced it. I prefered it as it was lighter and suited me better i think, but the hardware and electronics on the 2010 are much better so i wont complain. (Pic taken February 2010) Pic 5: Warwick ProFet 5.1 + Peavey PA Cab, Warwick was bought on here for £150 this January, the Peavey is actually part of our band PA so i dont use it often, only on gigs where it isnt our PA, which tend to be bigger gigs where other bands provide backline, so its rare. I need to get myself a cab of some sort, 2x210's sounds good i think. (Pic taken may 2011) I also find it quite funny that in all 3 pics where i'm playing on here i'm using a pick, when i actually play fingerstyle most of the time. I'm 16 now and all of this gear has been funded by christmas and birthday money, except the Line 6 which belongs to my guitarist (He has a gorgeous Epiphone Les Paul Plus Top in Blueburst) and any of my next purchases will be with money from my apprenticeship i start in september, aiming for a Musicman Stingray 5 (White, white p/g, maple fretboard) or Stignray 4 (White, black p/g, maple fretboard) and hopefully a P Bass (Red, white p/g, maple fretboard) along with a new rig which will be a Line 6 Relay G90 Wireless into either a Fender TBP-1 and Peavey IPR 1600 or some other rig that has footswitchable tube overdive (Hartke Kilo, Ashdown ABM500 etc..) into 2x210's or 2x212's. what do you do when your guitarist breaks a string mid set?
LiamPodmore replied to skidder652003's topic in Gigs
Let the 2nd guitarist carry on playing and hope the song doesnt have a solo or any recognisable riffs that the lead guitarist plays. That and probably end the song early, like after the next chorus. Fortunately, this has never happened to us, and neither of our guitarists carry spare guitars or strings (That would be a good idea) so we'd be pretty screwed. Ive also taken a spare bass to gigs a few times, including my gig last night, but i don't do this too often as my 2nd bass is in the middle of a full electronics change that i can't afford to finish yet, and we're also sometimes quite tight for space too. Those actually look quite good, my bands singer is after the Fender Blacktop Telecaster in Candy Apple Red. Liam

Personally, i would save up abit more and go for Line 6 Units, as they are exempt from any licensing and frequency band stuff, and are really good quality stuff aswell. Liam
-
Warwick/Rockstand and Gator both make them, I think Stagg does one for 4 aswell, but i'm not too sure on that one. Liam

This is NOT a "what's the best bass for metal" question!
LiamPodmore replied to Evil Undead's topic in General Discussion
Not a bass, but does any more really need to be said? Liam -
Over the past year or so i've gone from loving Ibanez SR's to Musicman Stingrays, so now i want a Stingray. Since i got my Jazz i've also started to like those alot more, but still prefer P's over those. Liam

Fingerstyle or Pick.. are your fingers the talkers?
LiamPodmore replied to ToneDeluxe's topic in General Discussion
Both, depending on the song, how i feel that night, how tired i am, and how sweaty my right hand is. Mostly finger, but some stuff i use pick for. Liam -
Trace Elliot are basically the be all and end all of cheap, old, ROCK SOLID amps in my opinion. Extremely rugged, definately underrated in terms of power, louder than loud, and to top it all off have great tone too. Liam

My dad and brother both have those for their laptops/netbooks, quite useful bits of kit actually. Good way to use them actually, its something i never thought of. Liam

What do you guys play when sound checking
LiamPodmore replied to gt4ever's topic in General Discussion
Soundcheck when theres nobody around, tends to be either 1985 by Bowling For Soup, or our latest original.cover we want another run through. For me personally it tends to be our song Lying Through My Teeth as it uses quite a big tonal range (D on my B String to the D at the 19th fret on my G) so i get to check everywhere i use. Edit: We also run through the bridge section of Monster by The Automatic to check mic levels. Liam
