A Day To Remember - All I Want. I'm torn between playing it on my 4 string in Drop C or my 5 in Standard, it sounds so good on both. Liam

I wouldn't, i hate the body shape, but £2000 for an Ibanez would be worth it on the SR and BTB Prestige models that i've played, but they arent in the £2000 price bracket. Liam
Start a Bass revolution. I'd need a team though. One person to engineer a micro amp that was small/light enough to carry on your back but powerful enough to disturb the peace (and cause serious/deadly hearing injuries) and then a number of people with extended range basses. 6 strings or above an absolute must. Then blow the sh!t out of anyone/everyone who got in the way, with the low notes! Bring it on!!
That amp sounds like PJB jobbie, 3x5 neodynium drivers in a backpack sized cabinet complete with shoulder straps, class D power amp with an internal power supply (batteries?) that can amplify the signal from an active 6/7/8/12 string bass so no pre is needed and less weight. That would be awesome for busking, let alone to decimate people with the low end. Liam -
Coldplay - Viva La Vida. Can be done easily without guitars. Liam

My trusty 2007 Ibanez GSR200, almost the bottom of the ladder in terms of Ibanez's but its still rather good. As you can see its rather scratched and stickered up, it's had plenty of use since i got it, and also a few accidents too. Thinking of modifying it to a Warwick style HH configuration when i get the money, and also fitting either a new pre or having it all passive, but a 3 band pre with coil taps on the pickups and a 3 way pickup selector switch sounds appealing.
Another good idea, i'm in. Should we go down this route, does anyone know about how to source / obtain custom wristbands?
24hourwristbands.com do them, they're good quality stuff and not too expensive either, last time i looked they had an 80% off sale that put them at about 18p per wristband for an order of 300 embossed silicon ones, they even do glow in the dark. I'll admit it, although most gigs i go to i am actually playing so i'm also looking at it to see what i have to play through (Last 3 gigs have been 2 Ashdown MAG 1x15's, Ashdown 1x12 combo, Ashdown MAG 300, 410 and 115, so im doing well) but at other gigs i do always look at the gear, tend to see some good stuff too. EDIT 18/10/11: The last 3 gigs i played (Where i wasnt using the Line6) were DI Only (Which was HORRIBLE), My Warwick ProFet 5.1 through and old Peavey 1x12 i stole from our PA, and the same Warwick through an Ampeg SVT0810e, which was PHENOMENAL!! The bassist of the band who owned that was using Fender USA Precision - Line 6 Relay G30 - Boss TU-3 - Tech 21 VT Deluxe - Ampeg SVT 4 Pro - Ampeg SVT-810e, absolutely awesome tone. Liam

I sometimes where gloves at band practices during the winter as it gets so cold it is almost impossible to play without them (See my old practices spaces from hell thread) but never wore them when there was no need, it's kinda pointless if you ask me, although you can move up and down the neck faster depending on the gloves.
You enjoy the live and unsigned thing the other week? Bet you can guess who this is... have a bump too haha
Yeah was good fun, and im guessing your the bassist of Just Dont Panic! Allistair if i remember correctly? Also, Bump for totally forgetting about this, if anyone wants any other pictures i'll be happy to provide them. Would prefer to meet up in Manchester or Bolton so hopefully someone local spots this.
What originals bands that play a lot of covers too? That seems to work very well
+1 Thats my bands situation at the moment, our local gigs in 2011 we have managed to pull a good 100+, mostly people who came specifically to see us, and then the locals in that pub, everyone starts to bring their friends along aswell so there always seems to be some new faces along with common ones. We're a pretty young band (15-17) with a young audience which probably contributes to that though. Some other songs i find go down well with our crowd are Nickelback covers, we used to do How You Remind Me and Another Hole in The Head, along with really fun and upbeat things such as the Ghostbusters Theme Tune. Welcome Baz, thats quite a rig you have there, and as Paultrader says this play is addictive. Liam

My bands lead guitarist was originally the bassist before i joined, infact, when i joined he was a better player than me, but that was around 2 and a half years ago. Liam
-
Looking at that i have a high suspicion that that bass was the exact same after that song as it was before, a tech most likely caught it. Slash, Alex Gaskarth and Taylor Swift have all thrown guitars and had their tech catch them. Either way, he can afford it, and i would do that to a Fender. Liam

What PA gear are you guys using for pub gigs
Now THAT'S a question The idea of an active 2x15+horn pair is very appealing, BUT unless you're always playing on stages a couple of feet high you're right, they'll be too low on their own and a lot of your sound will be lost into the front row/dancefloor/whatever.
My mates band just grab 2 tables from wherever they are and put ther 2x15's on them, works rather well. My band use a Behringer Europower PMX2000 (250w per side) into 2 1x15+ horn Warrior cabs (8ohm, 300w each) and 2 1x12 Peaveys (8ohm, 200w each) for 2 vocals and possibly a keyboard. Works fine for what we need, backline handles the rest. Liam -
Buy 2 packs, always keep one pack spare in your case or bag. Liam

I've had a dabble on an old SR1005 sometime in the past, it was a good bass from what i could tell. The US have a much better range of Ibanez basses than we do here. They still have the SR100x, 200x (if i remember correctly), the SR706, the lower end BTB's. Liam
