What are you listening to right now?
LiamPodmore replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
I'm actually listening to my mates cover of 'Your Song' on her soundcloud, i think its rather good. Jessica Smith - Your Song Liam -
Louis Foulkes of A Little Bit Outlaw, along with Matt Green on guitar and a beautiful facial expression from MJ on the drums and vocals. (No, MJ does not stand for Michael Jackson either) Liam
I just use a hollowed out Ampeg 8x10. Enough space to store the missus too. Truckstop
Truckstop, thats an amazing idea, you got any pics of that by any chance? Liam

Just because i got bored and wanted to have a good mosh whilst playing, i learnt Trivium - In Waves and Five Finger Death Punch - The Bleeding. Both really easy but really fun. Liam

Using social media for band / gig promotion
LiamPodmore replied to mrtcat's topic in General Discussion
Just something to add, a good way to keep fans interested is with sneak previews. When we have a big gig coming up we sometimes post a sneak preview of the set that we're going to be playing that night, just a few hours before sometime in the afternoon. I think it helps for getting the fans geared up and ready for a good night. Liam -
Using social media for band / gig promotion
LiamPodmore replied to mrtcat's topic in General Discussion
We use Facebook as one of our main promotion tools in terms of gigs and stuff like that. We also have a soundcloud linked up with Facebook, a Youtube channel (Which has recieved views from France and the USA) and a myspace which is rarely used anymore. Our audience are all teens, so Facebook is a really good tool for us, as its all the rage nowadays. Liam -
Smallest: 4 (Including bar staff) Largest: Around 180-200 We're a pretty young band, so its harder to get fans to our out of town gigs, as most of them are between say 14/15 and 18. Liam

One thing to remember is that those kinds of mics will pick up everything, so when you clear your throat or curse at that bum note you just hit, it will go through the PA system too. Liam

Just had a proper think about this, decided it'l be best to make myself up a small pedalboard with the VT, Tuner and another pedal or two on, and then just wrap all the cables in a shield-like thing i have to run out to the board and back. Thanks for the help anyway. Liam
Not sure I get this either? I run my VT Deluxe on batteries (which appear to last forever, even when I inadvertently leave cables plugged in overnight) and one cable? Personally I suspect you might be over-thinking this
I probably am, but knowing me i'd end up going stupidly complicated with a MIDI switched rack effects setup sometime in my future. For now i'll just leave it simple and just get a VT bass, i'll sort out what i want to do with it when i get all my rack setup. Liam
Maybe I misunderstood, but wouldn´t the 4-button footswitch be trailing cables anyway? In any case, you should be able to unless the pots and jacks are directly soldered to the board. IMO, it´s too pricey to risk f****** up on, but that´s just me. Maybe you could get a pro to do it for you?
Yeah the footswitch would be 1 cable, but running the VT on its own would be 2 cables and a power cable. I would be getting a pro to do it for me, i'm not confident enough not to mess it up. Would be much easier if Tech 21 just made one themselves, but we can't have it all our own way. Liam

What's the most you would spend on a bass???
LiamPodmore replied to Schnozzalee's topic in Bass Guitars
The max i'd spend is roughly £1000, but i would go abit higher for the right bass (Ie something like that SR5005 a few weeks ago) but i'd have to wait till i gathered the cash. Quite a jump considering the 2 basses i play now cost me £150 and £170. Liam -
This is probably one of the strangest ideas i've had, but does anyone think its possible to take the guts of a VT Deluxe, and put it into a rackmount chassis with a 4 button footwitch? I'm planning on moving to a rack system later this year, along with getting a VT Deluxe but i don't want cables trailing across the stage (Main reason i'm going wireless) because they get annoying. Its probably a stupid idea, but i'll bounce it off you guys anyway, you're more knowledgeable than me. Liam

Tone Hammer, Sansamp BDDI, MXR M80, Hartke XXL, you've got plenty of options, its just finding the right one for you. I quite liked the M80 when i tried one out, but i havent tried any of the others so i can't really compare. Liam

We can do an hour for load in, setup and soudncheck pretty easily if we want to. Depending on the gig we normally give ourselves 90 minutes to do it all, so it's pretty relaxed (Only pub gigs btw) and we get it done easily. We have a powered mixer, 4 cabs that are daisy chained in pairs, 2 vocal mics, 2 guitar amps (Guitarists are simple, both have combos, one has a distortion pedal, other has a 1 button footswitch and occasionally a wah, no pedalboards whatsoever) bass amp, and the drum kit. No mics on guitar, bass or drums. Some gigs we have given ourselves 2 and a half to 3 hours, but those we had us on, another band, and an acoustic act opening, so more amps and gear to setup, and more soundchecks to do, even then it only took 2 hours from load in. My bands singer had this problem due to only having 1 guitar. At the time we played in E standard, D standard, drop D and drop C. What he did was only ever tune his guitar to D standard or drop C, and just use a capo on the 2nd fret for standard and drop D, worked really well, till we dropped everything lower than drop D. So using a capo could be an option? Liam

Dad gave me a bass, started learning some tab and had lessons for about 2 years. Liam

I'll be happy once i get a decent cab or two, im thinking 2x410 when i have the means to move them around. I'm really happy with my head, although i hace considered upgrading to the 5.2, just because the vents on the top of the 5.1 annoy me. Liam
Having just seen a multitude of bands at local festivals.. I think more thought could go into what they play.
Local festivals near me tend to have some quite good gear on their stages. From what i can remember of the last few i went to, there has been bass gear from Warwick, Musicman, Fender, RIM Custom, Gibson, Aria, Ibanez, Ashdown, Hartke, Peavey, Orange, Aguilar, TC, Markbass, Schroeder, and Trace Elliot. They've even had Ashdown ABM 4x10 Combos and a Hartke HA5500 into a Hartke HyDrive 810 as the house amps. Liam

Last gig i played there were Squier, Musicman, German Custom Warwick and MIA Fender basses, along with Behringer, Warwick, Ampeg and EBS amps. From the guitar side of things there was Gibson, Epiphone, Fender, ESP LTD, Dean, Mesa/Boogie, Marshall, Blackstar, Peavey, Orange and Randall. Bare in mind none of these are realy boutique, except maybe the Warwick and Muiscman, but still quite high end for the most part. Liam
