1.
If it's a US bass the size is very unlikely to be metric.
True point. It'l likely be something close to that though. Liam
2. Crackin' Video, Awesome song. Thats just been favourited. Thanks for posting. Liam
3. If i remember correctly the hex hole on the screws is 2mm, i can't remember the rest of the details. Liam
4. Fortunately (in a way) played our last of the year last Sunday, so we have no gig to miss. The snow here's about 6 or 7" though, but the roads are just slush. Liam
5. Buy used from the For Sale forums on here, and go for atleast a 410 i'd say, maybe add a 115 or another 410. Don't need to get a really powerful amp, 400w or so should be fine. All IMO of course. Hope it helped. Liam
6.
Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass V Active + buy the Mrs something special with the change = very under-rated brand new fiver + a guaranteed xmas blowie.
I agree. One of these with new pups and pre, and new hardware if you want, and a setup, you will have yourself a nice 5'er for under a grand. Liam
7. Bump for it being tonight. In reply to my 2nd post we are not headlining as they found another act, but we're on 3rd (Around 9:30) so we've got to put on a good show. Half original half covers (Ish) set so it should be pretty fun. Hope to see some of you there. Doors: 7pm Tickets £6 on the door. Liam
8.
However two days to get a track recorded and mixed is really getting a move on, especially with backing vocal, I can see why he wanted to minimise the fuss! I'd want the tracking done in entirety before lunch on day 1, so the lead vox can be done int he afternoon, bv's and overdubs morning day two, mix down afternoon day 2. If your drummer used his own kit (rather than just his snare and cymbals) then you probably didnt have time to do anything but the path of least resistance on bass IMO. Getting great drum sounds takes serious effort.
You guys take 2 days for 1 track? My band managed to do 3 tracks in one day, using our own drums, bass with DI and Mic, 2 guitar tracks per song, 3 takes per person per song, and backing vocals. Actually turned out pretty good (Its in my sig) Liam
9. Think the best i can put forward is my band not recieving a single bad comment at practically every gig from our 3rd onwards. Also, being told that i am too good for my band, and i need better players. Not bad for me age. Liam
10. I use pound shop cheapo gloves (Always warm) that i have cut the end of the thumb and first finger off on one glove, so i can hold a pick and i wear them at band practice, its definately a good idea. If you dont use a pick you could always just put gloves on and play like that, i found it actually gave a nice tone which is wierd. Liam
11. We do just Vocals (2) into a Behringer Europower PMX2000. 250w Per Side. Which goes into 2 8ohm 1x15's and 2 8ohm 1x12's, plenty loud for just Vocals in our pubs, anywhere else we play has PA Supplied. Liam
12.
Camera phone shot of my rig from stage left!
I'm sure i have that same flag that is hanging off your rig on my bedroom roof. Liam
13. Muse, Paramore, and B.O.B. Covers that are pretty perfect? Definative sub here. Also, Enter Shikari too, they were phenomenal last night supporting 30 Seconds To Mars. Liam
14. You should be fine, i had 5 covers by my band up on youtube. The likely truth is that your version is not the EXACT same as the original, so the WMG stuff that analyses every youtube video wont pick up on it. And its only stuff owned by Warner Music Group that ever causes any problems anyway it seems. Liam
15. I think Kasim Sulton had the best job up until early this year when he quit (i think). He was the bassist for The Neverland Express which is the backing band for MeatLoaf. I must say, i think that would be one amazing gig to have. Liam
16. How about a BassChat Tombola? We all put unwanted items in a thread and sell them for cheap (Depending on what it is) and all funds go toward the upkeep of Basschat? Liam
17.
anything by the ramones, blink 182 and greenday. system of a down is handy once you are tuned to c
Tuning to C is fine, i play a 5 anyway. And thanks for all the suggestions guys, i'll start working on them tomorrow i think. Liam
18. My Favourites: Jet - Are You Gonna By My Girl? Black Stone Cherry - Blind Man Busted - Air Hostess (just the intro) Tool - Schism Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark A Wilhelm Scream - The Horse (The first verse is an awesome tapping riff) And the one my singer wrote me for my bands latest original. Liam.
19. Anyone know any easy rock/punk/metal songs to learn by ear, as i want to learn and obviously don't want to start on something pretty hard. Any ideas will be appreciated, thanks in advance. Liam.
20.
I haven't ever (in at least 20 years) miked a cab for a studio session.
Last Time i went in studio (First time ever actually) the guy took a DI from my combo, and miked it aswell, i let him set a good tone as he knew better than me, overall i'm very pleased with the sound, tweaked it slightly and using it as my new live sound, really punchy now, just like i want. Listen to it on the links in my sig if you like, it coulda been abit higher in the overall mix though
21. Mine costs us absolutley nothing, and we have to provide all gear. Including the coats and heaters to keep us warm. If that place was ever rented out they'd get no business. Liam
22.
"to some youngsters" I'm a 17 year old bassist.

Same
Sorry lads, you've been beaten. 15 Year old bassist right here, i'm more of a youngster than you all (Maybe even the youngest on basschat) Liam
23. I had a text today saying we are now headlining this show, so Bump (:
24. We've been getting on fine here. We've only had about an inch of snow cause the pennines takes it all of us. Liam
