3. Yes, i would, have been for a year now, i'm not 100% happy with it, but i love gigging, so its all good. Liam
4. Yeah, i even end up on here in school sometimes, or till 3am because i'm bored and theres nothing on TV (as usual, british TV is sh*t nowadays, never anything good on, just mock the week and top gear reruns on dave)
5. I frequently gig a Line 6 Lowdown LD150 with my band and it sounds pretty good. Its starting to lack in power a little as i now have it EQ'd better and its a tad quieter, but the sound is rather impressive. I think the LD175/300/400 would be damn good gigging amps, but the 150 lacks on power for my needs. Got a Warwick ProFet 5.1 now though, much more power, just have to find some money for a cab. Liam
6.
...but if you were to stick that on tour it wouldn't last a week...
Zoltan Bathory of Five Finger Death Punch has been using 2 Relay G90 systems since they came out, on tour, every night, with no problems. I have seen a few others using them aswell but i can't remember their names. Liam
7. Usually once a week, but we havent had one for atleast a month now, we've had gigs for the past 5 weeks so fitting in band practice around school/college, gigs, basketball practice (for the other 3), and general socialising isnt that easy. We don't always need to practice though, just to add new songs and write some more originals. Liam
8. My band never have played anything like Mustang Sally and stuff like that, probably because we have a much younger audience (15-20) so those kinds of songs don't work well. We do do Country Roads occasionally, and also used to play Highway To Hell, but in terms of the usual cover band songs, those are the closest we do. We also have originals we throw out there too. Liam
9. First Bass Owned: 1994 Squier Affinity Jazz 'Go To' Bass: 2010 Squier Deluxe Jazz V Active 'Your' Bass: Musicman Stingray Classic 5/Musicman SUB 5 (Don't own one yet though, did we have to own it?) Liam
10. I'll add another +1 to the Hercules, i dont have one personally but i've used my mates at gigs quite a few times and they are rock solid, even with my Squier Jazz 5 which seems to weigh more than my amp sometimes. Liam
11. I started on a bass at about age 11/12 (Can't remember exactly when, but close to my 12th birthday), joined a band about 4 months later, then quit that band after a year to join the band i am in now. Best move i made, nearly 3 years later and i know i made the right choice. Liam
12. As many others have said, i don't need it, but i prefer it, probably because my 5 is my best bass and feels most comfortable to me, also because its much easier for me as my band go from standard to drop D quite often, and i need a few notes lower than D every so often. Liam
13. Personally i'd invest a little money and swap one of the 210's for a 4 ohm 410, that way you can have the 410+115, the 210+115 you also use, and a 210 or 115 for the smallest gigs. Liam
14. I couldn't go without my amp i don't think, not yet. In a few years i think i will be able to because we're planning on getting our PA up to scratch so we can use it for pretty much whatever it needs to be, weather its just vocals or the whole band with a fully mic'd drum kit. If we did have a decent PA i wouldnt mind just using a POD and IEM's, would save me alot of effort. Liam
15. Last nights was pretty sh*te. There was about 15 people there, if that. Last saturday though, we got a good strong crowd of about 200, absolutely phenomenal, probably because it was free and all our mates live around that area. Surprisingly wasnt all teenagers either, plenty of older people in aswell. Liam
16. Not in my opinion, but i never got to use one live, personally i would go with a Boss GT-10B or a Line 6 POD X3 Pro or Live, as that POD seemed pretty useable when i tried it. Liam
17. Mine would be considered low to some people, but if i have it higher its painful. I have mine where its in pretty much an optimal position for pick and finger playing, so either one isn't too hard to do because i use both. I sometimes have it abit lower than this, but that isnt too often, just when im playing 100% pick as i find that abit easier. Liam
18. In: Either a SBMM Ray 35 Or A Musicman SUB 5 Lots of parts for my jazz rebuild. Out: Maybe my Ibanez, not sure yet. Planning on getting some cabs and rack gear aswell this year. Liam
19. The guy from Elliot Minor was on here at one point, had a nice rig too, and they arent exactly the least famous of bands. Liam
20. If i were you i would try and find a used Line 6 POD X3 Pro and the matching FBV foot controller (The biggest one is best.) That should put you under £600 and give you a good rack effects unit, even leaves you being able to add a seperate MIDI controlled unit in the effects loop of it if you so desire in the future. Liam
21. Personally, if i could get a good tone out of it with ease and little, even better no EQing, it wasn't too hard to move, and had adequate power for my uses (And sounded good when being cranked), i would probably use it. If not, i'll spend my cash on something that i like and will be more happy to use, even if it takes me months to save up just to buy a used cab for £100. Liam
22.
I think trying a bit of both will be hard, I was advised to just play the 5 only for a while then reintroduce the 4 after you have the five nailed. It's worked for me and I think maybe it's the reason many other just move them on?
Sounds like a good idea actually. I would have done this had my 5 not break about 7 weeks after i got it, then took fender 10 weeks to get me a replacement. Biggest PITA ever. Putting my 4 in B Standard did help though, made it really easy to just pick up my 5 once i got the replacement and just play away quite easily. Infact, thinking about it, i actually had no problem with the transition from 4 to 5, and also no problems playing a 6 string either. Liam
23. Our past 2 gigs its been pretty much the openers starting at 9, finishing at half 9, and we start at quarter to, do a 10 song set, 5 minute break, 2 song acoustic set, second 10 song set, and then encore for about 15 minutes. Finishing at around half 11. If we don't have another band with us we start at 9 and do pretty much the same set lengths we do then, just with a 6-10 song acoustic set instead of 2. Most of our gigs are free aswell, so we have no problems with going all night if the manager is fine with cause its abit of fun to us for now. Liam
24.
So,you are missing an essential bit of kit if the amp isn't yours. It'll become a big problem if someone else wants you for a gig.
Its not that big of a problem as he doesn't mind me using it for my gigs, but i do have a Warwick ProFet 5.1 Head and im just finding the funds for a cab at the moment, so i wont be using it for much longer anyway. Liam
25. For me its Bass, Combo (For now) 20ft and 10ft jack leads, spare bass, picks, tuner, spare used strings, phillips screwdriver, allen keys, batteries, earplugs, towel, tshirt, deoderant, hairbrush. I can fit all that into 2 gig bags, and my guitarist delivers the combo as its his. Liam
