1. The guy from Elliot Minor was on here at one point, had a nice rig too, and they arent exactly the least famous of bands. Liam
2. If i were you i would try and find a used Line 6 POD X3 Pro and the matching FBV foot controller (The biggest one is best.) That should put you under £600 and give you a good rack effects unit, even leaves you being able to add a seperate MIDI controlled unit in the effects loop of it if you so desire in the future. Liam
3. Personally, if i could get a good tone out of it with ease and little, even better no EQing, it wasn't too hard to move, and had adequate power for my uses (And sounded good when being cranked), i would probably use it. If not, i'll spend my cash on something that i like and will be more happy to use, even if it takes me months to save up just to buy a used cab for £100. Liam
4.
I think trying a bit of both will be hard, I was advised to just play the 5 only for a while then reintroduce the 4 after you have the five nailed. It's worked for me and I think maybe it's the reason many other just move them on?
Sounds like a good idea actually. I would have done this had my 5 not break about 7 weeks after i got it, then took fender 10 weeks to get me a replacement. Biggest PITA ever. Putting my 4 in B Standard did help though, made it really easy to just pick up my 5 once i got the replacement and just play away quite easily. Infact, thinking about it, i actually had no problem with the transition from 4 to 5, and also no problems playing a 6 string either. Liam
5. Our past 2 gigs its been pretty much the openers starting at 9, finishing at half 9, and we start at quarter to, do a 10 song set, 5 minute break, 2 song acoustic set, second 10 song set, and then encore for about 15 minutes. Finishing at around half 11. If we don't have another band with us we start at 9 and do pretty much the same set lengths we do then, just with a 6-10 song acoustic set instead of 2. Most of our gigs are free aswell, so we have no problems with going all night if the manager is fine with cause its abit of fun to us for now. Liam
6.
So,you are missing an essential bit of kit if the amp isn't yours. It'll become a big problem if someone else wants you for a gig.
Its not that big of a problem as he doesn't mind me using it for my gigs, but i do have a Warwick ProFet 5.1 Head and im just finding the funds for a cab at the moment, so i wont be using it for much longer anyway. Liam
7. For me its Bass, Combo (For now) 20ft and 10ft jack leads, spare bass, picks, tuner, spare used strings, phillips screwdriver, allen keys, batteries, earplugs, towel, tshirt, deoderant, hairbrush. I can fit all that into 2 gig bags, and my guitarist delivers the combo as its his. Liam
8. B-E-A-D-G but i'm gonna get a 6 string so i have everything i want. Liam
9. Bugera's guitar stuff is actually quite good, and pretty reliable. Their bass gear on the other hand, i doubt it will be, but nobody ever buys one to test it because they all know Bugera = Behringer and Behringer = Pretty sh*te, but i would not have any problems buying a Bugera 6262 Head and matching 412 for guitar if i needed it. Liam
10. I'll add 2 more for Manchester Manchester Academy - The guys there gave us no problems, sounded decent and its not too bad of a venue. Soundhouse (Bolton) - Also a nice venue, or atleast it was when i last played there. Been told it's gone abit downhill with cleanliness but i have no proof. Crackin' house PA and brilliant sound there aswell. Liam
11. Bump for a crackin' amp. I use the 150w version pretty often and its well worth the money. Liam
12.
Ima no-life bass player for almost 2 years. I love this instrument more than anything else
I see a nice prestine Ibanez GSR200 there. I remember when mine looked like that. The 1st is from a gig in february 2010 at The Windmill in Westhoughton. My bands 2nd proper gig. Man i looked young back then. The 2nd is at Gigs Bar in Bolton, August 2010, at a heat for our local Battle Of The Bands. The 3rd was taken at a photoshoot in our practice space late 2010, and yes, our practice space contains a tractor, its a bit odd i know. Liam
13. The line 6 Lowdown LD150 is one to look at. Its a 150w 1x12 and it has no problems keeping up with my punk band without PA support. I don't know if they are over your budget or not (My guitarist got it for £280 new a fey years ago) but its definately one to look at. The effects are pretty useable too, if you desire them, except the synth. Liam
14. Welcome. The GSR200 is a brilliant starter bass, still have mine now. Liam
15. Ashdown also have a new line of Heads with Dual Tube Preamps and its sister company Hayden is releasing higher wattage versions of their MoFo valve head for guitars. Liam
16. Now that looks like something i want. I love the tubescreamer on bass and now there's a bass version. If it isnt too much i'm gonna get one of these. Liam
17. I'm having no problems myself, i have no idea what could be causing yours. Liam
18. Use Rotos on my 4 string Ibanez, always have, love em for 4 stringers. Their 5's don't have the right gauges for me though. Liam
19. Welcome to Basschat Tim. Liam
20. I really hope they're gonna do a ray 35 version. I prefer the slab body over the typical Stingray 5 one. Liam
21. I play bass in A Little Bit Outlaw. We are a young (15-17) 4 Peice Contemporary Punk band with influences such as Good Charlotte, Bowling For Soup, Sum 41, The Beatles, R Kelly and artists from all genres. Since forming in Bolton, Lancashire in 2008 under the name "Nemesis" we have had 2 name changes, and a lineup change resulting in a radical change of direction and much more success. We began gigging in late 2009 and since then we have reached the final of a local Battle Of The Bands, along with playing venues such as Manchester Academy and The Soundhouse in Bolton. In October 2010 we recorded our first EP at The Fuzzbox, Wigan which can be heard on our myspace and youtube. Join us on facebook for regular updates about gigs and head down to one of our shows to experience our new flavour of punk. 22. That looks good. Anyone got any info on it? Liam
23. To me feel is putting emotion into what your playing. As mentioned above, people like Slash really feel the music, put their heart and soul into it, etc... Liam
24.
Were you expecting something else?
Yes, i was actually expecting a japanese rick copy modded with a P bass pickup. Liam
25. This Website allows you to change youtube vids into MP3's with a few clicks, i've used it alot. Liam
