Anyone else have problems with people in bands who insist on wearing ear plugs?
No, I encourage all my band mates to wear earplugs as we all should.

I have built a very, very clean power supply that doesn't require me to have AC anywhere near my pedalboard (the transformers and bridge rectifiers sit in a box at the back of my rack, with the voltage regulators and capacitors and stuff on my board)

Very clever - good idea.

You can cover any song if you have a way of rearranging it.
I'd agree - you don't have to replicate the recording to cover a song, as Mr. Thomson demonstrates so well.
I'd assume that they were active in the same way that, for instance, EMGs are i.e. they contain active components like a amplifier.
The site's certainly short on info, might be worth dropping them a line.

I got shot of a lot of mine through the Recycling forum:

There's plenty of people on here who are happy to take a set of deadened rounds of you!

Good to know - I'll do this from now on.
Isn't the correct response to him if you think he is talking rubbish is "Right....I'll give that a go sometime, cheers !" and then swiftly go off to do 'that thing'
He is a punter after all, seems a shame to make a thing out of it...
OMMV

Another thread here has got me thinking about this. I've got 6-7 basses. At any one month-is I play 2-3 of them regularly. The others only get picked up on occasions; usually just to compare something.
My "problem" is when I decide to change things round and play an old favourite I find the strings have gone dead and they need changing. This can get crazy; changing almost unplayed strings. My solution could be to sell the bass.
What do you think /do ?
Perhaps you're more likely to change the strings on your basses du jour and so the reserves bench sound a little dull ?
Just a thought.
I put mine in the recycling, although I'm sure I read that they're very hard to recycle back to component materials.
I keep a spare set or so, and give any away if anyone asks.

So you have 2 jack casady basses now then? Well I'm very much open to receiving late christmas presents if that black JC isn't getting any play time.
I do have two - sometimes it feels a bit excessive and then I play them and, wow.
They're not the same tho - slight differences in bridge, control and socket placement and the nuts are different. Different factories I guess.
Well, I hope he didn't actually say it was sh*t !
A bit of overdrive can add a certain something to a sound without it actually sounded all distorted and guitar-like and it certainly wouldn't sound out of place in a classic rock band - cranked SVTs and all that
But it's very much about how you want the band to sound. Maybe your helpful friend just likes grindy bass and says that to all the bassists he meets !
EDIT: Pretty much what Woodinblack said !!

Of course. A lady in a white coat with some pill cups on a tray.

Liquid cosh ? That'll keep 'em in line.
Joking aside, I'm sure they enjoyed it.
