1. Do you mean this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRjiMN2qJHI By the looks of it, it says 'King Rollo' - Pino's obviously a fan of the swivel-limbed cartoon character
2. Maybe everyone needs a bit of time to settle in with each other, sure you're not boot camping it a bit too soon ? You seem to be the bandleader so I guess it's up to you, but maybe you're all missing the old drummer, and that's showing in the problems the band are having. YMMV but I'd be looking to get everyone to relax, get to know each other musically and get comfortable sharing space with each other before expecting the band to back where it was when the previous drummer left. EDIT: That said, your band seems to be different to the kind of band I usually play with, so it's possible my approach isn't suitable.
3.
Some people would say this is ego. I think its a more basic need. I play because my Id demands it.
Aaaah, but your ego decides how much of your id comes out !
4. Heavy metal, or heavy rock, or is it rock ? Hang on....I don't even know the name of the stuff I don't know about ! (oh, and David Bowie)
5.
What's actually funny about this is that I was thinking about mounting all the pedals on a board with a clear perspex cover! Not totally enclosed but at least being able to ensure nothing was kicked. A bit like this idea:
I knew that, so I suggested it just to freak you out
6.
The thing is it needs work. Has a lot of noise in the signal, caps I guess and loud pops when turned off again some caps on the power switch need looking at. So I would feel a bit crap trying to give it away not working to something like that, when they would have to spend money to get it "possibly" working.
They can always say no if it's no use to them, and they may know of somewhere that could offer it a home...you'd certainly have discharged your duty in terms of 'finding it a good home' Don't junk it tho - someone will have a use for it, even for just a project. If you still don't like taking money for it, give your profit to the community project you offered it to in the first place !!
7.
Donate it to a local community music project - they're all having their funding severely cut or taken away completely so are always glad of donations.
Yep, I'd be looking for something community-related.
8. Put the pedal in a larger metal box and wire that box as a bypass pedal that bypasses the pedal inside the box ?
9. Mahogany-bodied, set neck short-scale EB-3 bass with DiMarzio Model One pickup and Hipshot Supertone bridge. Bought this earlier this year, spent some money on upgrades but have decided that I need to free up some space so here we go...Plays and sounds fantastic - the only downside is the hatchet job the previous owner did to fit a varitone circuit to the bass. To accommodate the switch they 'excavated' around the existing hole to fit the varitone. Hmmm. It's not pretty, but a spare selector switch just about covers it -the pictures show how it all fits together. Oh, the selector switch for the pickups works back to front. Maaad stuff. Bodging aside, the varitone does work quite well, allowing a number of different capacitor values to be switched in if you want the mudbucker stylings. When fitting the Supertone bridge I added an earthing strip from the back pickup stud running into the pickup cavity to improve the string earth, seen on the pics. More pics here showing the varitone and the slight over-spray on the headstock and my slightly rushed finishing of the scratchplate to fit the DiMarzio. The upper tug bar is just sticky-taped on btw This is pick-up/meet-up only in London (Tottenham) Any more info, please ask.
10. Ignore this thread, check out the real one for details.
11.
That's because those 4x10 Peavey's were awesome! I kind of wish I hadn't sold mine but then I remember it weighed more than my car.
They did a bit, didn't they ?
12. It's stay away from the preshapes and work on the EQ. It can take a while to dial it in, but as JTUK said, only use small amounts and keep the cut and boost centred around 0Bb. I had a GP7 for years and mainly used the EQ, not the preshapes
13. With no keys I'd say the best arrangement would have you on the low notes and one of the guitarists playing Peter Hook's parts.
14. Another vote for ~100W club ! I used a Trace Elliot 150W head and a Peavey 4x10 for years, never even approaching half volume and a nice, defined sound it was too. It's all very YMMV of course...
15. How about: Classical Gas - playing electric but hankering for a double bass. Ideal Gas Law - your disposable income is directly proportional to your GAS (only ever seen in textbooks, never in the real world...)
16.
Errm NO! But Carol Kaye did claim to do them when it was actually Jamerson! Fact..... Haha
17.
I think the bass line was actually played by Mark King using a plectrum belonging to Derek Forbes, along to a sequenced track put together by Rick Wakeman from Keith Emerson's sweat..
Rubbish, it was Carol Kaye. Rio, Girls on Film, Bad Boys...those synth stabs on A view to a kill ? Carol Kaye.
18. Glad to hear it worked out, I'd still get the Servisol and give it a blast tho.
19. Very tasty
20. I wouldn't like to say, sorry.
21. Have a look here www.musicmanbass.org and here specifically www.musicmanbass.org/mycustompage0008.htm I'd guess it's a 2003 or 4 SUB from the sticker on the back of the headstock. Comparing your serial number with this list would help
22. Thanks for the kind comment on SoundCloud BassBus
23. I use Cleartune for bass and acoustic guitar and Mrs. Pook's used it for violin as well. Works well for us
24.
He was possibly running out of steam....lol..
Aaaah, is that why they kept popping off to the bathroom...? To get some more steam....I see....
25.
A number of the 80s pop acts were terrific players - Duran, Culture Club, Nick Kershaw, Kajagoogoo to name but a few - but were/are scrutinised to the point of disbelieving they were actually any good because guys who make pop records can't play, right? Wrong.
Absolutely, I think some bands around that time got tarred with an unwarranted brush. It's a masterful, inventive piece of bass playing and discreet's right, it drive the tune like a rocket. I love it
