1. Cafe Oto's a lovely venue. Break a leg !
 2. First gig with a new band last night, lots of problems with the sound and general setting up, leaving to lots of delays and us going on very late. But we soldiered on, accompanied by live illustration projected behind us as a backdrop and three dancers improvising around us on stage. I'd like to add that I performed the last half of the set clad in a silver knee-length cycling cape, which set my blue wode-style facepaint off rather well. I do hope there are some photos...cos when I write it down, it all sounds kinda flashbacky.
I have just stumbled into this thread by accident. I feel as if I have entered a parallel universe.
Can we mod him.... ? Please master...can we ? We'll tidy up the mess this time....
 4.
I posted regularly on several music related USENET groups, but only rarely on that one. I may have posted a bit more on rec.music.makers.bass, but I don't remember either one as being all that useful, in all honesty. I was quite active on rec.music.makers.guitar and alt.guitar.amps and a few of the recording related groups though. It was pretty amazing how rude people could be to each other back then.
Wow, those group names bring back memories....
 5.
Kate Adie?
Christmas 1988, Newcastle Branch of WHSmith, I served Kate Aidie, she bought 4 big batteries, D - that kind of size. I thought of her using them in a radio or something when she was off corresponding in a flak jacket somewhere. She was really nice.
 6.
That helps a lot thanks very much. Yeah I'm keen not to drill any new holes to be honest
No worries. I think I'd be going for the path of least resistance as well.
 7.
Is it a case that it tracks for guitar and not for bass?
Mine seems to track faster, but it's still not great. Fine for the living room though !
 8.
Thanks guys! Although the lean is definitely there, it's not particularly serious...Although nothing was apparent when playing the bass, I guess I'm mainly concerned about whether this is likely to cause me any issues sound-wise, etc?
I guess it's a weird one but it's not going to make a huge difference unless they're really canted over.
 9. Ok...um....are the screwholes sunk into the body nice and straight ? (Sure you've done all this tho....haven't you ?)
 10. That's weird...are the pickup covers bent or mis-moulded in any way ?
 11. Depends on how you want to control the pickup pan and volume If you stack the vol and pan you could use the OBP-3TK/PP, if you keep them separate you could use the OBP-3SK/PP. These two options mean you could re-use the original control plate The other two options would require you to drill a hole in your bass or the control plate to fit a switch. That help ?
 12.
Wire have released some great albums in their reformed incarnations following their initial dissolution after their classic late 70s trio - Pink Flag, Chairs Missing and 154.
Good point, well made. Chapeau, mon amis !
 13. A violinist I play with uses a Snark and it seems to track bass really well - bought one of a mate as a present he loves it. I've got one on my birthday list !
 14. Any more pictures ? I'd love to see the grain in the body
 15. Yeah, they're not great are they ? If you mute the note and strike it again it tracks in better...but not much cop really. Mine lives on my acoustic guitar, which it's OK for. Some of Joyo stuff's great, some....
 16. Lovely piece of work !
 17.
FWIW, the reformed ahpook puts out better posts than the old one.
Brilliant, especially as I used to be an alcoholic !
 18.
I posted a little bit but lurked more, Can't remember many of the names from back then, I think Dude Barr was on-later of the Dudepit (Use to hang on there too)
Same here - read a lot more than posted. Seems like a loooong time ago.
 19. Makes me wonder if the 'I' that liked the original material would like the new material as well, or has everyone aged and so no direct comparison is possible. Make me wonder if I think too much as well.
 20.
Big fan of the film and never seen that before?
No ? Maybe it's not in every version, there's loads of edits.
 21. Only with heaps of swirly chorus.... And a weird spinny thing at the end !
 22.
Hey dude! Looking good my friend Have you settled on the control layout yet? Are you going with the standard VVT controls? I found that modding my Ibanez Jazz clone with a series/parallel switch brought out some lovely mid tones that aren't as obvious when in normal parallel VVT mode. Should be a fairly simple mod with a pull pot or toggle switch.
I'm sorry - I missed you question, my apologies ! I was going to go for the standard VVT, but as I have a couple of stacked pots in my bits box it's possible I'll use those instead.... Not sure really ! The series/parallel sounds interesting tho.
 23. And here it is today, third coat drying When I started this morning my worst fears were confirmed - I'd missed a patch about the size of a playing card on the ribcage contour and it was now a shiny patch. That and a few odd dots here and there.... Hmmm After some reading up on the Web I tried a little bit of wire wool...very gently on a patch which will sit under the neck plate...and the patch slowly disappeared and the finish wasn't affected, so I tried that on all the patches and eventually gave the whole body a once-over and it evened up the finish. The third coat went on in and most of it came off ! Endgrain was still pretty thirsty but filled up eventually. What you see above is Mrs. Pook very kindly holding up the bass as it is now in the wan spring Tottenham sunset, and it looks lovely. The finish has smoothed out beautifully and there are coppery hues in there and greens/browns in the endgrain. Next step..Beeswax polish after a few day's drying off.
 24. Here's one from this afternoon, whilst applying the second coat...bit of workbench porn as well.
