1.
Mmm.. Not quite Haven't heard anything by them , but they seem to be around for years .
Never my cup of tea, but a few tunes were big floor-fillers back in the goth disco days. Who did you mean ?
 2.
S.o. D first album is what I could' do with.
Spear of Destiny ?
 3.
Lost yet another cord last night... Love AKG headphones . The exclusive cord fitting is annoying tho'
Sounds like you're getting a bit Moody
 4.
That's... expensive.
Maybe you can get it on tick.
 5. Looks very impressive, thanks for all the info.
 6.
It the old drawing office, upstairs in the old Morley Coachworks building in Byker, if that helps!
Um...nope, but thanks for the info !
 7.
In our rehearsal room. When I say "our" I mean we pay for the use of it every wednesday, not that we own it or anything...
Aaaah, OK. I lived in the North East for many years and the room looked familiar...just couldn't place it. Thought it might have been somewhere I knew.
 8. Hey, excellent. Good for youse. Where was it shot ?
 9.
I have it on the best authority it smells like a cross between the Bakelite factory and a used kayak. I can hardly wait!
Early plastic olfactory. Awesome.
 10. Very cool. Bet it smells fantastic
 11. Hey, good work. Sounds like a lot more fun now.
 12.
I absolutely love Jazz basses.
Oooh, very swish.
 13. Hey, nice one...what you did took a lot of courage, you should be proud of yourself. I'd agree with what Happy Jack says - if things seem too tough at the start, simplify them. If you're playing roots to drive the tune along then that's fine....whatever you can manage is cool - you can add the more complicated stuff as you go along. It's how everyone learns Get some practice at home to get your head round the tunes before next time and get down earlier next week !!
 14. Very tidy indeed
 15. Quite partial myself....
 16.
I've posted on here before, that I think we play too loud.
You are not wrong.
 17.
I still have the 150w (I think) 1x15 Series 6 Trace Combo that I toured with extensively in the 90s, pubs and clubs, huge military marquees, Stadthalle in Bielefeld being the biggest venue I wound up in... PA support where it made sense obviously, but while I stuck another 15 under it for the sake of appearance I never once plugged it in, and never had a volume problem, not even close. Ymmv... etc.
Maybe it's a TE thing - I used a Trace Elliot 150W head for years, never had a volume problem even through various not-top-end cabs.
 18.
Dear god, not my point at all, more based on high profile players of posh basses tend towards a certain style of music and imagine people who aspire to such instruments aspire to such styles of music.
I think you could be making connections where there are none - posh basses cost a lot of money, you either have the money, in which case you can buy what you like even if you're not a world-class player or maybe you're a serious (perhaps professional) player who wants to have the tool they use the most just the way they want it. End result - a bassist who has a posh bass, but totally different bassists.
 19.
it's a question re how on earth (or whether) your average bass-player-in-the-street finds opportunities to play contemporary jazz fusion, experimental post-rock, or other quirky characterful intelligent music which seems worthy of such instruments.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest. If the bassist who buys expensive basses can afford them and enjoys playing them then my opinion is really of no relevance whatsoever. If I see someone playing a nice/expensive bass I don't then immediately judge them for whether the music is 'worthy' or not. I generally think 'nice bass' and leave it at that...it's their trip, after all.
 20.
It sometimes is, I've had it before where I've turned up and have played through things yet struggle to hear the influences, or even feel them as far as rhythm goes. Some bands are then shocked when I ask where the influences are that they listed as what we just played fit firmly in one genre!
Yep, been there too...it can be a leap of faith, can't it ?
 21. I think you need to be a bit more assertive, sure try out a more aggressive sound, but that's only going to show up at the end if you make sure whoever's working the knobs knows that you want that kind of sound...but remember the bass has to serve the track, so (just like life !) a compromise might be needed.
 22.
This is what I find happens with a lot of bands advertising. They all chuck their influences together and list out something hoping to draw from as many as possible rather than just being too the point.
It's good - you're a good way to creating more interesting music starting with a wider span of influences
 23.
I'm thinking James playing Hot Love on a fiddle while shouting "Oi!!!" occasionally.
Well, now you come to mention it....
 24. I can imagine "an alternative/pop/folk/punk band" quite easily, in fact the folksy band I play with could fit that bill. The second one....well, it's a broad net, but adverts can be tough to write - I think they've summarised their own influences instead of written a person specification
 25. Looks superb, just listening to 'Housewives'.
