1. Still up for sale.
2. If I remember correctly, you can use the same centre hole, but will need to drill new holes for the outer two.
3.
Saw them in 1989 supporting Firehose, great gig. I remember he was playing a Westone Thunder 1A just like the one I had.
That's right, and a Jazz bass if I remember rightly. Still got a very soft spot for them.
4. /Wakes up from sleeping in over-stuff leather armchair/ What ? Tone is in your fingers. Yaaaarrrgh ! /Slumps and falls asleep, snorring/
5. Five it a decade or two and it'll be 'license' everywhere and for all meanings, so let's not get hung up. Like I did earlier
6. LicenCe !!! I've used Reaper a few times, always struck me as very straightforward. My machine seems to struggle with the DAW I use at the moment, so maybe ti's time to have another look at Reaper.
7.
I am happy being 'dumb' and 'uninformed' about lots of subjects. Otherwise people ask questions about those subjects and expect answers.
...a prison for oneself.
8. I was listening to my wife's gentle breathing as she sleeps on the couch, but as you can't hear that.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQ712S4LYpU
9. Used his lessons quite a lot and learned loads. He's got a very laid-back style of teaching, which I like.
10.
Yes, if it needs it. I'll always check the intonation & neck relief when I put new strings on & adjust it if necessary.
I'll check the intonation as a matter of course after new strings, but not so much the relief as I only really judge that by feel and eye.
11.
Though if I were you I'd probably leave the pores and have it feeling a bit more natural, that's supposed to be what an oil finish is all about anyway . Looks like a fun project, good luck! .
Thanks This is really what I'm thinking. All my other basses are glossy (black) finishes, so something very 'wood' is quite the ticket, but all thoughts are very much welcome.
12.
Without reading all the posts have we reached a conclusion yet? Do the Aye's or the No's have it?
The headbands do not "have it", nor have they ever
13.
You should have heard him slap
Yeah, I'd heard he was quite the smack bassist
14. That's simply...stunning. I think I may have done a sex wee.
15. Damn, you nicked one of my fantasy band names !! Good luck all the same
16.
OK, it's official. I must live in a different world than most. Blue
Everyone does.
17. I've never seen a picture of him in a headband, so that's a big plus.
18. And sold. Many thanks for all the interest.
19. I'd read about beeswax for a final finish would make it more durable ? OK....something else to bear in mind. Thanks again.
20. Thanks for the advice Harry - I'd read about the slurry method and was still mulling over whether to try that (all work is forbidden on the bass until the final cupboard's up in the kitchen !). I don't mind a more 'open' feel to the wood though, so I'm still 50-50. Top tip for the filter papers - I'll give that a try.
21. It's a great bass - I did the mods (new pickup, EQ and coil tap) and they added so much to an already very playable instrument...lovely neck. If I'd not forbidden myself from buying any more basses I'd be nabbing this back as I do miss it GLWTS
22.
Its a structurally perfect, exquisitely detailed empty vessel.
/aside/ What a lovely turn of phrase.
23.
I think we are all groundbreaking bassists. One Love.
Awww, ya big lunk
24.
Did someone mention aimless noodling?
Wow, I didn't realise they used real toddlers in their Peri Peri Kiddie flavour.
