  1. That folks is a Hayman 40/40 or Shergold Modulator body with a cheap Japanese neck transplanted to it and a custom pickguard and pickups. Note the Perspex bridge. The lacquer cracking is typical of a Hayman, looking closer it has F holes so definitely a rare Hayman 20/20 ?semi acoustic body. It’s something I will definitely be having a bid on!
  2. Yes it’s a very nice cab small but robust and even missing the mid it sounds good
  3. Dr Bass 1260 cab I recently bought one of these cabs off eBay as I’d heard great things about the product - although dodgy things about the business practices of the builder. The cab arrived but had been badly handled by the courier resulting in the midrange 6.5” speaker coming adrift and being thumped around in transit. I reseated this and drilled new mounting holes. There appeared to be no obvious damage however the driver is no longer functional. I checked all connections and nothing appears loose or damaged. I have no other measuring equipment than my ears, eyes and putting my fingers on the cone to feel if it is moving, it isn’t and I can only hear a signal through the main 12” driver and tweeter. My question is about replacing the mid driver. The main woofer is an Eminence Gamma 12 presumably 8ohms and the mid is a 6.5 Eminence LA6 CBMR. This is labelled 8 ohms. There’s a tweeter and some kind of crossover, with two speakon sockets and an attenuater for the tweeter. The speaker cab was sold to me as an 8ohm cab and online info indicates 8ohms when manufactured. However both speakers appear to be 8ohm drivers so I’d expect the total impedance to be 4ohms? Even with the defunct mid it sounds really punchy so I’d like to replace the mid speaker to bring it up to full spec. So would it be advisable to simply buy a replacement mid speaker of the same specifications as a direct replacement? Will the crossover have any effect on the total load? Any suggestions, advice would be most welcome.
  4. Wow that’s a beauty Karl!
  5. YHere is my Mantra bass filter, it sounds great and is very flexible with lots of variation and two programmable user presets. It’s in excellent condition with psu, box and manual. I’m not using it as much as I intended to and tend to stick with my EH Bassballs as it’s a bit more straightforward to use live. Can post for a fiver uk only.
  6. I’m awaiting a reply 😉
  7. Hi what’s its weight please and would you post? Thanks
  8. It’s cheap and cheerful but plays really well and sounds just like a good P bass ought too. Very light at around 3.8kgs with a nice satin feel neck, maple board and thin vintage style frets. The tuners are a bit cheap looking but work fine and the bass is newly strung with rotos. I bought it as a back up whilst my trusty JV was having work done and for the price this did the job well. UK only pickup preferred but I would post at buyers cost. Only trades would be on a Markbass cab or combo with some money from me. It comes with a gigbag. Thanks

  10. I have two of these for sale - both fit my Fender US made 1979 Precision Bass however I’ve managed to repair the original ‘79 one so they are up for sale. One has an extra hole for a switch drilled that is now taped over so that one is £12 posted. The second one I imported from the US and it’s had no modification - this one is £14 posted in the UK. Both have minor marks from use but no cracks or breaks. Three ply black white black - see pics. Cheers.
  11. Interesting that - it’s been about a bit that bass. The picture of it on the rug is from my sale. You can see my Tele bass in the background. I sold it previous to you buying it on eBay my description and pictures clearly showing it as a Sterling as did this sale - I can say it’s a fantastic pro bass and certainly worth the asking price. I just didn’t get on with the five strings so sold it on quickly and cheaply. Good luck with the sale. Hopefully it will find a permanent home! PS it was absolutely covered in stickers when I bought it that took a lot of effort to clean off.
  12. Very nice basses these. The necks are excellent I had one on an old Tele bass body years ago.
  13. Nice what’s the weight of it please?
  14. I’m no expert but these crop up a lot and JV denotes Japanese Vintage. I think the difference is merely in the decal - and the price! There’s a great website about JVs called 21frets it describes all the different versions. Interestingly yours has different tuners and bridge from mine. Mine has the spiral type saddles and early reverse tuners although the serial is same era!
  15. What a mess! Mine cost me £600 when I bought it a few years ago and it was near mint my headed graphite bass was £450.
  16. Yes though I’m sure it had a different title. It’s mentioned in one of the Fender Bass Books. The author was looking for a slab bodied 66 as they were UK imports only and a limited edition. I think Entwistle had a few of them possibly used as parts for his Frankenstein bass.
  17. This amp is in excellent condition and was bought as a back up whilst my own amp was being serviced from here. This is the earlier pre amp version and has bags of punch and clarity for such a small unit. An Italian made high quality bass amp, a few cosmetic scratches to the metal case and some wear and tear to be expected of a gigged unit. Some of the pots could do with a squirt of switch cleaner but all working fine. I will post in the UK only free but pickup is preferred. This is for the amp only no trades sorry. Reduced £185. Thanks for looking!

  18. Great amps, I miss mine so very interested. What are the holes on the bottom of it for? Cheers
  19. Many thanks for posting the Markbass amp so promptly. Cheers Ash
  20. Very nice bass, what’s its weight please?
  21. 1972 Fender Telecaster Bass. This is the three bolt neck Telebass with large chrome humbucker pickup. This bass benefits from a single MIJ Jazz pickup at the bridge and a three way switch so you can use a combination of both or each one individually for a good range of sounds. There is a later signature under the hood and in the neck pocket I believe from the person who modded the electrics. You can get a massive muddy sub or articulate midrange from it. It looks like it has been stripped of the original finish to natural wood. It’s a good weight for a 70s Fender bass at 4.4kgs and comes with a rather scruffy none original old case that will protect it in transit. The modern thumbrest is wooden and one of the knobs is from a more recent Fender and the pots/wiring has been customised. The original fretboard was removed before I bought it and it had a replacement fretless rosewood board that I had fretted. The bass plays very well up the neck and is comfy and well balanced. It’s a lovely instrument though definitely not one for collectors since it’s been customised. It is an excellent players bass however. I’m open to sensible offers of course. UK only. Pickup preferred but I will post at buyers cost. Would trade for a maple neck US Precision with cash adjustment either way depending on age and condition. Note that the back of the neck is unmarked, very smooth to play with no big dings or dents, or major blemishes, there are some small cosmetic marks and minor bruises but negligible when playing. Pics added.
