Keith McMillen KMI 12 Step and MIDI Expander This is the original KMI 12 Step Controller. It can be used as a set of bass pedals, to trigger chords, samples or even drum sounds. I’ve used it with a variety of synth modules for adding strings and organ for live gigs. I’m now playing more keyboards live so I’ve gone back to my Hammond bass pedals. There is software online to hook it up to a computer or iPad but I’ve always used it with hardware and it has done the job really well. I’ve colour coded the ins and outs with tape but can remove if required I’ve also taped the note names on the unit as I found it easier to see live. I used masking tape so it’s easy to remove without much residue to clean. KMI has now been rebranded as Muse Kinetics since Keith McMillen sadly died last year. Support is still available for all the KMI branded versions of their products. It’s really small and neat compared to a traditional bass pedal controller and weighs next to nothing. The unit itself is slim and made from woven carbon fibre. I have the original (tatty) packaging for both the pedals and the expander. I’ve included a link so you can see what it does. The Mark 2 version retails at around £435 street. The included MIDI expander was bought separately for £65 as I wanted to integrate it with my outboard hardware rather than use it with my computer. Postage at buyer’s cost UK only. No trades.

Musicman Sterling 4H Bass USA & Original Case Lovely example of the earlier Sterling model (not to be confused with the Sterling imports from the East) I picked up in a trade on here this year. Made in the US in 2000 it has a recessed neck plate, three band EQ and slimmer body and neck. This is a rarer version with a black sparkle finish and matching headstock. It comes with original pearloid scratch-plate and a plain black laminated one. It weighs 3.9kgs so a nice lightweight example of this bass. Lovely balance and set up. It’s very easy to play and currently strung with D’Addario 40-100 nickel roundwounds. No issues other than a couple of hard to see dings. Great bass, only selling as it is rarely used since I prefer maple boards. Pickup preferred but I can post in the UK at buyer’s cost. No trades.

Nord Electro 4D 61 Keyboard Weighted Waterfall SW61 Superb Nord Electro keyboard - this has all the classic acoustic and electro mechanical keyboards you could wish for for live and studio performances. Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos, acoustic grands and uprights Hammond, Farfisa and Vox organs. It even has Mellotron and Chamberlain samples, plus strings, harps and guitars. This version also has drawbar control. It’s a classic in its own right but still updateable using the Nord site and sample library. Included is the keyboard, user manual, mains lead, damper pedal, sample library on CD plus a nice heavily padded gig-bag. I have added a custom ‘half moon’ switch to control the rotary speaker simulation from the keyboard rather than using a foot switch like an old Hammond. If you collect in person I’ll also include a stand. The price is non-negotiable and sorry no trades. It is feasible to post but only in the UK and at your cost and risk. See pics - I’ve not gigged it but have used it in rehearsals occasionally. To be honest it’s been used at home as a piano and the other wonderful sounds have been wasted! Selling as I use my old Korg live as I’m not worried about it being knocked about and I’m going to buy a simple piano for home use.

Washburn Vulture II Bass MIJ 1980 Classic Japanese Washburn from the Wing series. Made in the renowned Yamaki Factory back in the 80’s. The body is beautiful with a sculptured rear cutaway area, binding neck and body, through neck with through body stringing. The cream pickups look like Dimarzios but are Washburn models. The bass is all original apart from the tuners which are replacement Schallers. The originals failed and had missing parts when I bought it. There was a lacquer crack now repaired on the back of the neck/headstock. Bass plays nicely and the trussrod works. Frets are worn but have life in them. Sounds great with a wide range of tones and all the electrics work as they ought to. It’s got some dings from being heavily gigged throughout the 80s and 90s by the original owner. No case or bag. It’s heavy at 4.7kgs but I have rehearsed with it for an extended period and because it is well balanced it’s not too bad. You don’t see many of these about and they are great examples of Japanese craftsmanship from this time. I believe they were made at the same time and in the same factory as the lesser known Daion brand and share similar features. Pickup preferred but will post at buyer’s cost in UK only.

Sandberg California VS4 II Bass A lovely example German made, near new with gig bag. Lightweight with a superb comfy neck and low action. I own three of these and they have consistent quality. They have replaced my usual go to Precision basses for live use as they are ergonomic and easy to play over long gigs. This one comes in Marley Blue with maple board, push pull active circuit. I think the pickups are Delano - they sound like a Precision on steroids and great in a mix. Nice mids and lows. Strings are D’Addario 40-95 and new. Pickup preferred but I can post at buyer’s cost in the UK only. No trades, no offers sorry. Selling as my 70’s Precision isn’t shifting and I need to move some gear on. The necks on all three of my Sandberg basses are superb - very stable and comfortable to play. Price reduction pre Christmas. Sorry no offers. If it doesn’t go at this price I’ll hold it back for now. Great German made bass.

Set of Hammond MIDI pedals I used with various modules including a Moog Minitaur they also work with Hammond organs or midi keyboards. Instant Geddy on a budget. They are in excellent condition and come with manual and PSU. They are hefty at around 8kgs as the body is made of pressed steel. The pedals have a good action. Note they do not self generate sounds they are a controller and you will need to connect them via midi. Only selling as I am upgrading. I can post in UK at buyer’s cost.

These were taken from a late Fender Precision and were fitted by the original owner. They sound great and were a popular mod of the time as they could be wired to a series parallel switch. Withdrawn They work well and there is still a good length of wire to them. They have the remains of the original pickup sponges stuck to the rear of them. I can send them in the box in the picture.

Squier Precision Bass neck from 1997. In good condition, fully loaded and also comes with neck/serial number plate, screws, knobs and bridge plus screws. Chinese made Affinity from the Yako factory apparently and well regarded budget instruments of the time. It’s a modern feeling neck. Truss rod turns left and right, frets are fine. Nice neck for a project. I can post in the UK only for free if you can’t pick it up.

FS: Tokai Hardpuncher PB80 GS, 1979/80, £475 o.n.o. - *SOLD*
ash replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Basses For Sale
I’m sure all the early Tokai instruments were Japanese made - the logo had to be altered to a block version (because it looked rather like a rather more famous US brand at the time) and then the headstock changed to a more angular design around mid 80s. I’m sure Bassassin will know the correct history and manufacturing info.- 32 replies

Fender Precision Bass 1978 Natural Finish Lightweight with Gig Bag I’ve reduced the price to encourage a quick sale. I doubt you will get as nice and light an example of a classic Fender Precision from this era. I’m also interested in a straight swap for a Rickenbacker model 4003 or 4003s. Thanks for looking. Fantastic Fender Precision bass from the late 70’s the only non-original part is the pickup which is a noughties US Fender wired to a series parallel switch. The pots, wiring, and hardware all original. You can see there’s currently a D tuner on it but if it sells I’ll return it to stock as I have the original tuner. The bass is factory natural with nicely grained wood. It’s light at around 3.7kgs - amazing for a bass of this era and the neck is slim with a shallow profile. There are the usual ID marks and sticker under the scratchplate with serial number matching the headstock. Sadly no case but I have a light modern Fender gigbag for it or if you prefer a scruffy heavier duty generic one. The bass balances really well and plays easily. There is lacquer wear at the upper bout and the finish has crazed over time. The finish is rubbed to near bare wood in places but it is honest wear and not particularly bothersome. You can feel the crazing when you rest your forearm on the edge, it didn’t irritate me when playing live. Great opportunity to buy a lightweight 70’s classic Fender. I’m sorry but the only trades I may be interested in are for a Rickenbacker 4003/4003s or 4000. Pickup preferred but I can post if absolutely necessary. UK only. Bit of an update I’ve replaced the Hipshot D tuner with the original Fender and it is now strung with TI flats. Sounds great! Set up with an easy low action. Price reduced

Great little mono synth (although can do paraphonic) with an analogue delay. This is the Reissue, NOT the V3 or even the original. Sounds fantastic and comes boxed with USB lead and ribbon lead if you want to connect it to eurorack. I’ve barely used it since I bought it as I’ve been concentrating on playing piano and organ. Excellent condition.
