There is no fabric to my knowledge that will support 31kg of weight placed onto a small rack screw! SKB moulded flightcase or similar would be your best bet. I used this with my old SVT 4 PRO to no ill-effect.

    For me - Ashdown. Great UK-based customer service, long warranty (I think 5 years if you register with them) parts easy to get and therefore quick to repair. To be honest, the Ashdown warranty alone has made me buy their stuff over other trendy brands.

    Went to see them in Belfast - amazing playing from Sting and Bakithi and Vinnie Colaiuta on the drums was superb! Michael - your mate on fiddle was brilliant, did two amazing solos and Sting introduced him to the crowd on both occasions.

    Hi all, Simple question - does anyone use flatwound strings on their Stingray? Going to swap out my rounds for some this week. I use Thomastik, LaBella and Rotosound flats on other basses - but not sure they would be the most appropriate for a 'Ray? What ones do you use? Tone-wise, I'm going for a Bernard Edwards-style thud. All opinions heard and respected Danny

[/quote] Unfortunately he is only under obligation to answer police questions if under arrest. He can feasibly not turn up to interview, or give a 'no comment' interview, unless there is enough evidence initially and he is charged with theft.

    +1 to the above post. Country music rarely requires anything other than the standard Root 5, along with the relevant passing tones between I IV V, II etc.

    Three gigs this coming weekend - Friday and Sunday are bar gigs with an acoustic bluegrass 4 piece (bass, vocals/guitar, lapsteel, banjo). Saturday is a larger concert in a local community hall - ticketed affair with an Irish folk rock 6pc band. Big stage and good fun! For both gigs I'll be using my Bravewood stack knob Jazz bass, Ashdown ABM 500w head (DI'd to PA) and BF Big Baby 2 cab for onstage monitoring.

    Hi all, Just a quick question! Looking for recommendations for an electric/acoustic bass with an upright sound. Been looking at those Kala U-Basses although open to options. Would something like a fretless Hofner do the job? Not really interested in an EUB as such - just trying to get some options Thanks in advance for advice or opinions Danny

    Played an NM Precision once and loved it! Really edgy tone with rounds, perfect for pickstyle! I'd say it would sound awesome with a nice set of flats too

    Do the simple things well and don't overcomplicate - you'll want to listen back in a few years/decades and be proud of what you've recorded! Don't be afraid of chopping and changing sections if you are having trouble getting a full good take (requires a click track!)

    Hi all, Been looking at these cabinets as an option to use with a Tonehammer 500 head. What's the general feeling on here about how they compare to one another? I know the SL112 is a lot lighter but weight isn't an issue. Planning on using two matching cabinets for most stuff, with one for smaller gigs. Tone wise I favour a more 'vintage' style sound with emphasis on low mids. Any experiences more than welcomed Danny

    I think the only route to lightweight valve sound is valve pre/digital power amp!

    I don't like the way they seem to be going towards a full graphic EQ a la the TE stuff. Personally I'd prefer a simple 4 band EQ (bass, low mid, hi mid, treble), but I understand that the versatility of this new EQ will appeal to more players.

    It all depends on the terms of the management deal. I remember a few years ago, when Snow Patrol were slowly becoming a household name with 'Chasing Cars'. The members of the band were only getting paid £200 a gig each, although all expenses were covered from the moment they left their house to start the tour until the moment they returned. This included instrument costs, clothing etc (both of which were provided as part of endorsement deals) So, in essence they would earn £4k for a three week tour per man. Not bad really, plus royalty cheques every few months which inevitably only got bigger each time.

    I'm sure it's been said already somewhere on this thread that most pro players wouldn't have time to contribute! I know when I've been on tour there have been periods of up to a week where I haven't been anywhere near a computer!

    In my experience - if I have to chase a gig, I'm already at a disadvantage. I'm very happy to let a promoter show their interest in my band and for them to make the first move to rebook. A manager/promoter will know what he/she wants, and if you are lucky enough to fall into that category then you will get work. For every promoter who loves your band, there will be one who is indifferent. Better off not wasting your time with the latter IMO.

    Hi all, It is with great regret that I am putting up for sale this wonderful bass! However - I just don't have a use for it any more due to playing Jazz basses exclusively. If there is no interest I will keep her but this beauty deserves to be played. These are the licenced copies of Ernie Ball Musicman Stingrays and they feel identical. To be honest this one is a little lighter on the shoulder than an old EB Stingray which I had previously. Anyway - I bought the bass second hand (stock) and had some modifications performed by a luthier: - John East MMSR 2 band EQ (based on a 70s 'Ray) - Nordstrand MM 4.2 pickup (based on a mid 70's pre-EB 'Ray) - Cream scratchplate (made by The Bass Doc of this parish) - Full setup and fret dress I really wanted to emulate that Bernard Edwards, mid-70's Stingray tone and to be honest, the modifications absolutely nailed it! The bass sounds so funky with the treble rolled off (think 'Good Times'), and when the treble is maxed there is a lot of definition with a lovely high end zing for slapping. The new scratchplate was just an aesthetic thing but it looks really good against the natural/maple combination. Unfortunately, as I said above, I'm pretty much using one of two Jazz basses for my gigs now and I don't believe in having good instruments sitting idle and not being played. Overall this cost me £150 for the bass, £110 for the preamp, £100 for the pickup and £40 for the scratchplate. Total cost of parts - £400, plus labour on top. I will take a little less than that at [u][b]£280 INCLUDING SHIPPING[/b][/u]. The bass will also be restrung and setup with a new set of Rotosound roundwounds. I will package the bass meticulously and send it via courier. Prefer payment via Bank Transfer to save on PayPal fees - see my feedback thread and buy with confidence.
