  2. Put all of the strings on before worrying about that. The tension will 'pull' the neck and will sort that out for you! If there's still a problem after all the strings are on and tuned up, then a truss rod adjustment will be required. Don't worry yet though, get all the strings on and then have a look. Truckstop
  3. Put an ad on Gumtree? I'm sure there's plenty of people out there that just want to jam out some tunes! Truckstop
  4. Bolt the neck on and string it up. If there are no obvious issues to do with alignment or action (ie, if there's issues that can't be solved with a little truss rod or bridge adjustment), leave it til tomorrow and perform a proper set-up. Should be fine, no big deal! Truckstop
  5. I bloody love those Mark Hoppus basses! Truckstop
  6. ...you pretend to like all types of music and refuse to give an opinion on a recent pop record preferring instead to make a non-committal remark on the production standards. Fiancée: "Tinie Tempah's amazing" Me: "yeah, I really enjoy his syncopated vocal style and I like the drum volume." Truckstop
  7. Sliders are usually a volume control assigned to a particular input. Ie, 8 inputs = 8 sliders So, if you have 8 drum mics for example, you assign each mic to one input and you control the volume of each mic in order to achieve a good mix for whatever purpose you're using it for (recording, FOH etc). If however, you already know all of this and I'm being horribly condescending (sorry!) and the sliders aren't controlling the volume of that input, then I'd suggest something is wrong! Truckstop
  8. Do the gigs mate! You can go on holiday whenever you want, opportunities come but very rarely! Truckstop
  9. I think Ashdown pedals look really nice but yeah I'd never buy one solely because they're so big. I reckon the Ashdown bods could come up with a wicked design for a multi fx. Now that I would buy! Truckstop
  10. Plus one for Rory Gallagher! Truckstop
  11. Get a boss me20b Up to 99 customisable patches and easy to use. Usual boss quality and the effects (except the distortion) sound good to me. Wah/volume pedal is more useful and cool than you think and has a good tuner built in. Best thing is, it's tiny (as far as multi effects pedals go) and light and you really do get a lot to play with! There's a reason boss are pretty much the industry standard! Truckstop
  12. Hmmm, I disagree with you on all of your choices. The fact that they're all world famous musicians means nothing to you? All those guys have/had great style, great tone (for the most part) and have made an indelible impact on their respective bands sounds. Sorry to be boring and sensible Truckstop
  13. The tiniest touch of slapback will help to fatten out the passages when the guitarist is off doing his own thing. If you can stick it in the effects loop or have a delay with a blend control, you can keep the slapback volume nice and low to avoid it actually becoming integral to your sound, and rather acts as something that provides a little thickness and air to your sound. Truckstop
  14. Oh dear, fuzz-lust is a dangerous thing! I've been through many in my time, favourite being a Myrtle Effects Corvid Fuzz (do a search on the forum there'll be some clips). Hope you find what you're looking for soon! Welcome to the forum! Alex
  15. Bought his Marshall Echohead and homemade tap tempo for a good price and I'm very satisfied with it! Pedal arrived next day as described and very well packaged! A++++111 etc etc Deal with confidence in this guy Cheers Chris
  16. Yeah I decided to leave the frame plain because I wanted it to look like the old style Fender TV cabs/combos. I also thought that painting it black wouldnt look as good because of the contrast against the lightness of the cab covering. Maybe next time I'll give it a go! And thanks for the binding tip, I tried for ages to try to get the binding to join neatly to no avail. I might actually build a new speaker grille when I can be bothered! Truckstop
  17. Update: Speaker finally arrived today! Hooked it up and gave it a quick blast and it really does sound immense! Turned it up as loud as I dare and it really is a lovely gorgeous articulate sounding cab now. I think blocking the port accidentally has given the cab a slightly vintage vibe too; a slight thud even when I have the tone turned on all the way on the Blazer provides a really multi-layered deep complex sound. I also decided to screw on the original Carvin logo too. Why not? Everything else is Carvin branded and it finishes the looks off nicely. Love it! Was also surprised to find that the Eminence Delta is really light too. Much lighter than the broken 200w one I have lying around from my Ampeg SVT-115. So all in all, I now have a light (not lightweight!) vintage-y cab that sounds great! I'll give it a blast at a couple of gigs, and if it performs as well as I think it will, my SVT cabs will be up for sale! Having 3 cabs is silly. Anyway, thanks for all your comments and messages of support. Can't wait to get started on my next restoration project! Alex Ps. My next project is actually underway; a little pedalboard done with the same colours as the cab! Updates soon..
  18. I think it's a great idea! Guitarcables.com sent me an email a while saying that they're offering a 15% discount with a password on everything! Deleted it though Truckstop
  19. Loads of gorgeous vintage Ibanez for sale on here right now! Wish I could afford them all Truckstop
  20. Chris is a great guy to deal with! Sorts out next day postage and wraps like a good 'un. Deal with confidence! Alex
  21. I would like to try a barefaced cab with my amp and also would like to test the Darkglass with my rig! Looking forward to it! Truckstop
  22. Excellent! Will hopefully have finished y other Blazer by then! Truckstop
  23. I would buy any 80's Ibanez because I know they're all amazing. Anyway on the subject of Fenders; I'll agree with everyone else. Japanese made basses are almost always without fault. I've owned and played a few Mexicans and Americans in the past and the thing is, they work as a bass should but they occasionally have a few nighles that don't really bother me, but would drive other people mad. It just depends on how much bad fit and finish bother you! Truckstop
  24. ...ing, testing 1, 2, 3
