FOR SALE: 90's Encore Precision £40 collected
Truckstop replied to Truckstop's topic in Basses For Sale

Updated: Signal chain: Bass - Fender Vol - Artec Big Dots Tuner - Marshall Echohead (w/Tempo) - Marshall Guv'nor 2 - Mooer Pitchbox - EHX Octave Multiplexer - Boss SYB-5 (w/Expression pedal) - Yamaha NE-1 Parametric EQ - Boss ME-20b. I've experimented putting different things through the effects loop and bypassing this that and the other and putting things in different orders, but it all works for me right now so it's staying as it is. I mainly use the Boss ME-20b for a super dubby digital octave (I use the EHX for analogue octave sounds), reverbs and wah. I like using slapback effect and messing around with the auto-wahs and fretless simulator. I well recommend it, it's a good piece of kit and it's a really good size! I'm gassing for a tremolo; looking at either the Mooer Trelicopter (purely for the size and also cos you get a sticker in the box) or the George Dennis GD120 (because it looks cool and can also fill in as a volume pedal so dont need to make room on the board). When I'm happy i'll get some George L's and make it all tidy-like! Truckstop
Cheap and Small never equals good.
Quite. My backstreet penis reduction was a disaster. Truckstop

Build your own! Everything I can think of would cost more than that. Even if you look second hand! Truckstop

The last couple on here have been around £100-£140. How much have they been going for on eBay recently? Sounds to me like you're penny pinching!! Great amps, used to own one and loved it. Just couldn't get over the weight Truckstop

Octaver pedal in 'micro' size? Does any exist?
Truckstop replied to 1976fenderhead's topic in Effects
GAS! Still want a Trelicopter first though. I already have like 3 octavers! Truckstop -

I use a Fender volume pedal (great build quality) and I use it before my effects chain to control swells in conjunction with reverbs and delays etc. I have other means of killing delay trails if I need too so I'm happy with having the volume first. I would say that a volume pedal is probably not the best way of dropping volume anyway, I'd rather just play lighter or use an equaliser pedal with a low volume/gain setting instead. Truckstop

iGiG G515 Black - Ultimate Gigbag!!
Truckstop replied to DaveMuadDib's topic in Accessories and Misc
Hello, You should probably put this in the For Sale: Accessories and Misc. forum! Might get a better chance of shifting it! If I had spare cash I'd be after it in a heartbeat, I need some decent cases. Good luck with the sale! Truckstop -
Ooh I want one! Would be. A worthy addition to my collection! Truckstop

What is your favourite song to play live?
Truckstop replied to garymilitia's topic in General Discussion
Yeah Whole Lotta Rosie's got some balls to it that's for sure! Also like Alex Harvey's Delilah, really fun! Truckstop -
80's Roadster? Maybe modded to have jazz pups rather than the more usual MM style pup? Truckstop
-
Or maybe the Trelicopter. That's a great name for a pedal. Truckstop

Used the Pitchbox for a couple of gigs and rehearsals and I love it. Sounds proper digital and bit-crusherrrrr like! I mainly use the detune function because the chorus sound quite 'steppy' and is perfect for dubstep type lines and drones. The chorus on my ME20b is rounded and smooth in comparison. The harmony function also sounds quite computery, but used with a little fuzz rounds it off nicely and is well usable for huge epic soundscapey type stuff. I just love the electronic sound these give off, love the size and I especially love that you get a sticker with it! Shimverb next on the list! Truckstop

Well on the ME20, there is a delay/chorus setting. The chorus is generic and you can only change the parameters of the delay however. Not sure if it's the same on the ME50? Use the wah to create a similar effect maybe? Truckstop

SOLD - Washburn XB600 6 String Bass (with Duncan STC-3 Preamp)
Truckstop replied to Shaker's topic in Basses For Sale
I used to have an XB600 bantam in red which really was a great bass. Had it for 6 years and it travelled the country with me and never put a foot wrong! I'd love to have this if I was allowed to buy another bass. My fiancée would have my nuts; we're saving for a wedding innit Good luck with the sale, this is a real bargain! Truckstop -
I wonder if the people that have £1000+ rigs sound better than the ones that don't? With my £500 rig I can play anywhere and sound great. Is it essential to spend more than double that? Not trying to pick a fight, I'm just curious as to the benefits of a £1000+ rig. Mine's reasonably light and compact and I have a good DI and compressor built in to the PF-500. I've upgraded the driver (dont worry, included in the rig value) so I can use it on its own for big pubs and the ME-20b is all I need for pub covers. Truckstop

Got my PF500 for £250, spent £125 on my cab, £100 on the Boss ME-20b and probably £25 or so on cables. I'm not counting my other stuff cos I don't gig with that stuff....yet! Truckstop
-
All £200 or less my Ibanez are. But I love them all dearly, so for ultra rough gigs I take my Encore P that cost £50 and a set of strings. £200's a lot of money for me to find if anything should happen to one of my basses! Truckstop

Why do people bother with power bricks when the Gigrig Generator can power more pedals and it has a smaller footprint than a pack of 10 cigarettes? Granted they cost more, but so good!! Anyway, those cables linked in earlier are amazing. When they get more in, I'll be after a few too! Truckstop
Just wanted to point out, I do believe there are fairly important differences in sound between different pups (though not as important differences as you get from changing amps/cabs or strings). But I'm wondering if spending money is necessary to get that difference. Anyway, as I was looking for a split coil jazz at the bridge, and there are nothing but £100+ versions of this that I can find, I'm going to have a go at winding one myself. Always love a new project.
Cool! Diary please! On a personal level I'd rather change the strings or setup the bass differently before thinking about changing the pickups. Truckstop

Already got some. I'll sell them to you for iHGx[3//] PM me your details. Truckstop

My advice to you is this: It's ok if you don't like a pedal. If you buy something and it doesn't quite do what you want it to do, move it on! There's always something out there that's better. I've been through 4 octaves, and I've settled on the EHX Multiplexer because I love it's synthy kind of tone. I held on to my first (Boss OC-3) for ages and I just didn't like it, I felt like I'd be some sort of failure if I admitted defeat and sold it! Also, learn how to make your own cables or invest in a George L's kit or similar. It'll make your life so much easier! Ooh, and don't listen to what anyone says about putting pedals in a certain order. Experiment and you'll find out what works and what doesn't with the pedals you actually have, not what some other guy on the internet has! Good luck!!! Truckstop
