  1. Great video! Cat wait to get back from work and have a little lesson later! Truckstop
  2. Very cool! Used to have one years ago and loved it. Don't be put off by the Korn connotations. It's a great bass in it's own right! Excellent Ibanez build quality, flexible pre and a nice slim (but not too much) neck. Truckstop
  3. Yeah I found the EQ on the ME20b to be quite sensitive and certainly worth a tweak if you're not quite getting the sound you want out of the synths, OD and drives. Another pluse while I'm thinking about it; I love the no frills chorus/delay patch. Truckstop
  4. I'm well annoyed I sold mine a few weeks ago. Bought a Boss GTB-6 which of course is a lot more versatile and in my opinion essential, but I miss the simplicity of the ME20b just for messing about with. Especially as it fits in my gigbag and can run off batteries. Might have to buy another one... Truckstop
  5. Maybe buy a Behringer BDI-21 first? They're £30 new and in my opinion are just as good as a Sansamp. Can't comment on the DHA though, but the BDI-21 gets a thumbs up from me. Truckstop
  6. Skint, strapped, penniless etc! This is the first F bass that I've liked the look of. Very sexy indeed! Truckstop
  7. These are awesome amps! I used mine for 4 years non stop. National tours, rehearsals, recording etc never missed a beat. Great tone and loads of volume. Nice and compact too if you'd prefer to keep it out of a case. This is a bargain. IMO, a professional bit of gear for no money at all. Its only restriction is its lack of serious power. If I were after a back up, I'd nab it straight away! Truckstop
  8. We used a dep last night (cum audition) and it was ok. The dude knew the songs and coped very well, but he overplayed everything and just had no sense of dynamics whatsoever. He was either completely silent or far too loud and fast! Oh well, that's what you get sometimes! Truckstop
  9. God! 6 gigs in two weeks for me. Tonight will be the last for two weeks! Did three dep jobs for a mates holiday camp functions band and had a right laugh! Took full advantage of the facilities at the holiday camp and had a lovely little mini break at each camp! Went for a swim, used the gyms, had a quick cook in the saunas....bliss! All the shows went very well indeed. Great turnouts, great sound and am now thinking of starting my own holiday camps band. I've played at 6 now and they've all been great! Light shows, great PAs big rooms and plenty of cash.! Thursday and Friday night played with my pub band. Thursday was ok, nothing special. I think we're all a bit tired. Been up all week recording a little demo so probably sick of the sight of each other by now! Last night was epic! Played a charity do and it was rammed. Asked to trim the sets to 2x45 but ended up doing 2x45 and then another half hour encore! Hopefully the venue will have us back! [/rant] However, getting really annoyed with the band. This charity do was £20 ticket entry in a really really posh wedding/functions venue. This was the first time we'd managed to get out of the pubs. Now we all knew this and we all knew that the venue's looking for new bands to add to it's roster. So I was really trying to impress on the guys that we should dress as smart as possible and use our smart instruments for the evening to give a good impression. Did they bollocks. The bloody staff were smarter than us! I came in trousers, shoes, shirt and tie and everyone came looking like they'd just rolled out of bed. So embarrassed! We blew the lid off the place so I'm certain that if we don't et asked back it'll be because the guys didn't make any effort at all. Very annoyed [\rant] So, got another gig tonight with a dep drummer we've never met because our drummer told us last night he can't do it anymore. Nice. Truckstop
  10. Another fan here! Kit's also quite foxy. Truckstop
  11. Yes! If you can get hold of a Firebass 700 with a matching 4x10 it'll last forever and you'll sound like god. So much power! And you'll probably spend no more than £250. Most peavey amps tend to go down to 2ohms so can power 4 8ohm cabs! However, Peavey stuff is not for the fainthearted. It is a bit on the heavy side and is pretty much as big as it can be! If you can stand the size and weight you'll be very pleasantly surprised. Personally I wouldn't go for the Mk 1-4's as they're getting quite old now, but the Firebass 700 and Tour 400 are solid buys. 12. Bought Pablo's beautiful TRB6II off him and it was a completely stress free transaction. Bass was exactly as described and got a good price too! Alex
  13. Beautiful! Taken me a while, but I really like the Elrick headstock shape and this bass in particular is a lovely classy deal altogether. Good luck with the sale! Truckstop
  14. I only use a compressor when I run all my effects. Helps to smooth the signal going into octaves and delays and stuff. I wouldn't use one if I'm just playing straight into the amp, don't need it! Truckstop
  15. I wish I could see it in the flesh. I reckon it'd look awesome! Truckstop
  16. Welcome Ste! Any pictures of your homemade bass? Sounds interesting!! Alex
  17. PM'd! Truckstop
  18. Yeah the deep button ftw Truckstop
  19. I think it's purely a money issue with the patrons in various areas. I live in a fairly affluent area (1 bed flat costs around £175k) and our live scene's in rude health. In my village alone (not mentioning nearby St. Albans proper) we have 3 pubs that do live music every week and there's always a crowd. Of course some of the more commercial bands attract a bigger crowd, but even for jazz and blues acts we still get a respectable audience and fees of up to £400 for 2x60 minute sets is common practice around here. The pubs have worked really hard to maintain the quality that ensures that the same people keep coming by every week so that whenever we introduce a new act, there's a good crowd. I have no doubt that if this were a poorer area it'd be a different story entirely! Sorry about the gig dude Truckstop
  20. Come on, mate! Man up! Turn the blend on full and just destroy everything. People don't want to hear sweet buttery bass; they want dirty synths and fuzz and pitchshifting and ridiculous sub tones. You've got some wick effects and it's taken you a long time to compile them. Truckstop

Pleased to say I just completed my second deal with Martin and once again was an entirely pleasurable transaction. He'd paid me my money instantly and kept up great comms even though it was he who was buying something off me! Would not hesitate to deal with Martin again (AAAAA++++++ etc etc) Lots of love, Alex
