Hello, I only bought this a few weeks ago but circumstances force my hand! £500's a lot of money to have tied up in an instrument, so I've put it up for sale! A wonderful professional instrument in full working order and in fairly good nick. There's a couple of dents here and there and there's a bit of discolouration on the neck from use. Frets have plenty of life left in them as does the truss rods. The previous owner had a new jack fitted and had the bass set up before he sold it only last month. As such, it's still in great playing condition with fresh strings. At work at the moment, so no pics yet. I'll put some up tonight. This is collection only from St. Albans (AL2 1QU), near to J22 of the M25. I will deliver for a bit of cash . Price is not negotiable. Trades will be considered for passive 4/5 string basses of less value (unless it's something really special!) and with money my way. Cheers Alex

You need to buy a power brake (I think they're called). Basically, you plug it in and it does some stuff to the power stage of your amp and you get wonderful driven sounds at low volumes. Truckstop

Hello all, Looking for a guitarist of moderate quality and experience to work for me in a functions and party band. Pay starts at a minimum of £70 a night. Based in St. Albans, herts but you'll play nationwide. Initially we'll need to invest a bit of time rehearsing getting the stage show right but then will be playing very regularly and could lead to more work with other agents and bands. Infrastructure (agents, managers, contacts, vehicles, PA, lights etc) already in place. Lots of overnight stays and depending on circumstance up to a week away at a time so you'll need a flexible job! You'll need good gear, preferably an amp with DI and two guitars in good condition and regularly maintained. Experience of and possession of effects and modelling a bonus as there'll be lots of pop and disco/party stuff in the set. You'll need to be ok with wearing costumes and maintaining your appearance. You'll also be between 20-30 years old but we're flexible! If you have any questions or would like to know more, please PM and we'll take it from there. Cheers! Alex

Talented bassist wanted for Hendrix / Mayer style trio - KENT
Truckstop replied to mrawlins's topic in Bassists Wanted
Best fun I ever had was with a Rory Gallagher trio tribute. Used a beat up old Gherson jazz through lots of valves and a 1x15 cab. Lovely growly tone and loved playing around with dynamics and bouncing off the drummers ideas. Hope your project takes off mate and if I was local I'd be jumping at the chance to do this sort of thing! Truckstop -
How has your day been as a bassist?
Truckstop replied to charliethornton's topic in General Discussion
Spent a few hours learning songs before work this evening. Great fun! Truckstop -
The keyboard wizard in my band uses an iPad to skip between notes and charts for each song. He just used the notepad function on the iPad and sorts the files in the order of the setlist before each gig. He just props it on his keyboard stand. Truckstop

No Roscoe love? Or Yamaha BB2025x? Truckstop

Ply or proper wood? - budget basses by big brands
Truckstop replied to Truckstop's topic in Bass Guitars
Well it's actually more to hone my finishing skills. I want to start getting more experimental with oil and wax based finishes and I think real wood would look a little better and respond more consistently than ply. I may be mistaken of course but I'd just prefer to start as I mean to go on and use real wood! Thanks for all your help! That Ritter looks awesome! Truckstop -
Ply or proper wood? - budget basses by big brands

Cheers! Used to have one of those years ago in sunburst. The first bass I ever paid for actually! Stands to reason the BK models (P copies) would also be proper wood? Truckstop -
That is an awesome way to get people to buy stuff! Always been tempted by the Lomenzo hyperdrive.... Truckstop

Voted! Very difficult decision and had to keep reminding myself that it's about the song and not about the recording quality or mixing expertise etc (IMO). Good luck to all involved! Alex

Hello, I was just wondering whether stuff like Yamaha RBX's and Ibanez Soundgear basses are made with proper wood or ply. Looking for a project to do in the shed over winter and want a decent foundation! If you've got any info on Peavey's, Stagg, Lindo etc etc would also be handy. Any help gratefully recieved!

No expression or wah though. Any particular reason why not? For me, a wah is probably the first thing I'd buy if I had to sort a new pedal rig! Truckstop

Just a quick note to say that I'm so happy with this awesome bass! Everyone should have a TRB! Used to own an RBXJM1 and I think this is even better. Better fit and finish, more responsive EQ, wider string spacing (which I now prefer having got used to 4 string basses) and a better B due to the longer scale length I guess? Used it for all my gigs and recording sessions since buying it a month ago and I can't see myself getting bored of it. Finally, I own a lovely professional instrument! Tremendously versatile and an easy player. Cheers! Alex

Ah, I shall try that. Cheers! The issue with monitoring through the pod is that I won't be able to hear the click of other tracks running through audacity. Anyway, thanks! Alex

The Mooer Pitchbox does harmonies above and below. With a touch of distortion it sounds very convincing. Clean, perhaps a little warbly? Especially the higher harmonies. It's only £50 off eBay so definitely worth a shout! Truckstop

Likewise. I got my PF500 for £250 and it'll do for many many years! Lovely Ampeg sound, fits into a laptop bag and has all the mod-cons you'd expect these days. As mentioned, the compressor sounds natural and unobtrusive (if you like that sort of thing) and using the full 500w gets some serious volume! I've always been a 'leave the amp flat and fiddle with the onboard EQ to get your sound' kind of guy so I can't really comment on the EQ. The Deep button adds a little sub if you need to fill a room with lovely creamy bass. Lozz196 will be by soon, he's owned both. Truckstop

Hello all, So I downloaded Audacity with the aim of putting together some tunes that've been floating around my brain for a while! The plan being, to plug my guitar into my Pod, line out from the pod to my laptop and record that way. Now the recording works fine, but I can't hear myself playing through the laptop. Which is problematic because I can't hear the click and when I come to do a second track, I can't hear the first one! I didn't realise at first, but I still had my headphones plugged into the pod when I was trying it for the first time. It's odd that it gets the signal from the guitar when I'm recording, but I don't get any sound out of the laptop at all, but I can hear what I've recorded already when I playback. My headphones work and also my headphone out socket works because I can hear what I've played after I've recorded it but not while I'm actually making the recording. I can also listen to songs on iTunes and through YouTube too. Getting a little frustrated because I know the problem lies within Audacity and I just can't find anything that looks like it'll help! Anyone got any advice? Cheers Alex

My bass is 'Bass Of The Week' in No Treble Magazine!
Recently I've been getting GAS for one of these... Never used to, but I've recently started to love the look and design of these. Everything about them seems to suggest that they would be ideal for me. Where's the best place, if any, to try them out?
Unfortunately I think Dan's house is the only place you can try one [/pedantic] Truckstop -
It's also supposed to help bassplayers that can't cope with resting their thumbs on the pickups and need to anchor somewhere else. Man up or develop your floating thumb technique like everyone else! Truckstop

So, I'd just need a 1/4" to 1/8" cable? Thanks again! Alex
-
Cool! And how do I connect the outboard stuff to the computer? Is there a special cable I'd need to buy? Thanks for your help! Btw having got in from work and had a listen I'm amazed at everyone's contributions to this competition! Alex

Can anyone recommend some software for this sort of thing? Like up to 8 tracks with a few built in effects? I plan to use a line6 pod for guitars and a gtb6 for bass and just use various percussion type doodads for drums. I don't have a particularly powerful computer so something that doesnt need loads of power would be great! Cheers Alex
