I know how I want to sound for each of my bands, although all slightly different invariably it`s a permutation of scooping mids and adding highs so nothing drastic. What I have found is that when I get an onstage sound I like with an unfamiliar amp I then back off the bass/lows a notch on the dial, it might not make the onstage sound as pleasing but I find it then fits in the mix better.

Well you don`t see many of that range up for sale, which is a pretty good indicator of how good they are. Congrats on a good bass, in the best colour scheme.

I’ve both and would say that the JMJ has a thicker chunkier tone with more mids, similar to a Precision, whereas the MIJ is more Jazz like, lower lows and crisper highs.

The neck width on the USA is very much like the JMJ.

I was similar when in Knock Off, only used the 410 & 210 on a couple of occasions, the 410 being more than enough and as it was on wheels easier to shift than the 210.

My preference is as @Leonard Smalls says, you get great options that way, but my back agrees much more with @Downunderwonder - and this is what I have gone for.

I think of that tone being a pretty much flat Precision pickup, maybe some form of slight boost around 800 - 1000.

As Steve Jones from The Sex Pistols said, you don’t have to be best mates in a band any more than if in a football team, you still pass the ball to the best placed player even if you don’t get on with them.

Thinking about similar, I’m now teetotal (for 18 years) yet in one of my bands we have a song called Football Beer & Punk Rock, maybe I should no longer be playing it as I no longer partake in beer.

Have to admit I’d forgotten all about the JMJs (how I don’t know) but yes as in similar price range the expectation should be these will be of similar quality.

I’d be more than happy to see @police squad & @hiram.k.hackenbacker doing their respective sets, great tunes.

I have a few separate groups of friends, most of which are music related but one of which none of them have any interest in music at all, other than listening to it.

Yeah seen similar stuff, like straight people shouldn’t play gays etc. Gonna be pretty stuffed when the next film about a mass murderer gets written, who do they let out of jail to play the lead?
