1. And lets not forget New Years Day is a song written around a great bassline.
2. Every time I`ve heard a Markbass/Barefaced combo it`s sounded great, congrats.
3. The Barefaced Big Baby 1 in the For Sale section would be ideal for that.
4. I`m in Hemel Hempstead, Herts (J8 on the M1, 20 miles north of London)
5. Cab-wise I`d throw in my usual Barefaced recommendations - they have two ranges, the cabs with 12" speakers are pretty flat/neutral sounding, the cabs with 10" speakers are retro voiced, hence being called the Retro series. The Retro210 weighs 30lbs approx, and is a doddle to cart around. I`ve got one - which I`m selling at present, the ad is on here for anyone interested. Amp-wise, well as Winterfire666 says, if you like your current sound why not look into a TC amp head.
6.
The Barefaced Two10 is around £500 (I think it's £499 plus postage). It's a 2x10 but with surprising volume and sounds a lot bigger than its size suggests. Get the 4ohm version and you'll be fine. If you're interested in light and relatively compact, but still loud, deep and good sounding... The Two10 is great.
I`m selling one, for £400, comes with a Roqsolid cover. Bought in Aug this year. Admittedly it`s the 16ohm version, but the "to 4ohm converter" only costs £30 from Barefaced.
7. I`ve often wondered the same, am sure many would like the option of a Road Worn Precision with a rosewood fretboard and regular Precision width nut. I know they could then get, well why not a 70s Jazz etc, but a RW Precision with regular width nut, well I`d reckon the RW series would get a fair few more takers.
8. Neither are particularly small but my recommendations would be Mono M80 or Protection Racket 7051. They`re much easier on the carrying hand than a hardcase and you can store some items in them - more in the PR7051 than the M80. I`ve not had the Mono Vertigo but only read good things about them.
9. And make sure you read the Paypal terms & conditions - apparently if payment is sent by Gift, or if the item is sent to a different address than stated via Paypal I think their insurance then becomes null & void.
10. This used to be pretty regular, not sure so much nowadays as haven`t heard of it occuring recently til this thread. But why not do it yourselves. We did a mini-tour of Germany in September, all organised by ourselves, and made enough money on gigs/merch sales to pay for it all, including hiring a van & driver and hotels for the band and said driver.
11.
who is the peanut at Fender that thinks white pickguards look good?
Probably the person in charge of the replacement pickguard section.
Black PG ordered from Thomann. Guess I've always lusted after the B/M/B combo...the Jean Jacques Burnel thing. Thanks to Lozz for the Thomann tip and PG offer...nice one!
No worries, black/black/maple is THE colour scheme.
12. I always do it, additionally even before they`re attached to the tuning peg I give them a tug so that the ball-end-thingy is properly in place in the bridge. Does it make tuning any better, no ideas as have done it this way for so long I can`t really remember how it was before.

Zoom B3

I had mine set on the Markbass amp/BB Pre-amp as this mirrored my set-up at the time. What I did find was that all of the effects are set too full-on for me - back off of the blend to about halfway and everything sounded great. I also did what many Talkbass users recommended and fully backed off on the cab sims. I really liked the B3, nice bit of kit.
14.
Have some fun there guys!! Personally I love playing Satuedat!!
Cheers Russ - what the hell was I typing there, haven`t even been on the caffeine today
15. And maybe get a highr gauge G as well, to add a bit of beef into the equation?
16. A bassist I know who plays for a rather well known punk band lives in France, so has to fly to get here for all his gigs. I asked him about what he does re flying and his advice was take it as a carry-on item, but stressed put it in a gig-bag, that it was unlikely if in a hard-case it would be allowed in the cabin. He did say every now and then you get someone being overly officious that won`t allow it on, but that at that point all the luggage has been loaded so the bass will be in on top of everything else in the hold.
17. After a brief interlude where the singer/guitarist got his dodgy ticker sorted (I`m serious folks) we`re back this coming weekend, supporting The UK Subs: Friday at CLWB Ifor Bach, Cardiff Saturday at The Fleece, Bristol Will be great to be back, been some 7 weeks without a gig, a dreadful state of affairs that.
18. It`s always been about packed audience for me. Sure the money is nice, but when I was in a covers band having a load of people dancing to the band was great. Now I`m in an originals band we`re trying to gain fans so audience size is very important, especially as we make a fair bit of our money via merch sales, so the more there the better.
19. Vid will be set - or should I say digi-box now I`ve joined the 21st Century.
20. Yes a modern 212 or 2 x 112 should handle all but the biggest gigs. And then you`d have FOH so would expect a monitor mix to help out on-stage.
21. I`ve just picked up a Jazz which has the stock Fender 7250M nickel plated steel string on and it has a very nice growl to it when you dig in. It`s changing my opinion on Jazzes as I`d always thought them too thin/weedy sounding (for me that is, love them when others play them) but these strings really react well to aggressive playing. Worth checking out imo, especially as they`re pretty reasonable on pricing.
22. I`ve just picked up a Jazz bass from the OP, we did a swap with one of my Precisions I was offloading. It has the stock Fender strings on it and to me this makes a real difference as I`ve never had a Jazz with nickel strings on before. Even though they`re the original strings that are at least 6 months old there is enough twang for me but not super-annoyingly-bright. They make a nice growl too when digging in. I doubt I will choose the Jazz over my Precision for my band but this has been a revelation for me.
23. Just completed a bass-swap, another one of those illicit ones at a motorway service station. Traded one of my 2015 US Precisions for his 2015 US Jazz. Good comms throughout, recommended. We also had a good chat about basses, amps & motorbike accidents - as you do.
