1. That`s interesting to know Kevin, think `ll grab a few sets whilst still around then.
2. I picked one up on Xmas Day, at a very nice price, have been very impressed with it. I`ve used a lot of different Ashdown amps as provided rigs, loved them all, and this one is no different, for the first time in a long time I`m totally satisfied with my amp.
3. Agree, the CMD121 is an amazing little amp, but the stack of the two together produces a lot more sound than would be expected
4. Yes, they expect $800-ish in the US, so expect the same but in Sterling here.
5. I`d hope that they look at the low-mid and hi-mid frequencies as on the AG they were pretty close together.
6. I`ve had a few active basses and all were good, but for me I prefer to just have one pickup, one tone control, and get one sound and hammer away. That said, when I was depping for a rock covers band I used an active Precision that had P/J pickups and it was incredibly useful at achieving the tones approximate to the original versions of the songs I was playing so I`d say tools for the job really. More efficient to do it all with one bass than carry a load around to gigs.
7. He`s a great bassist, and yes, the Sig Precision is a great bass too.
8. You`re playing for nothing, try and sell some tickets and if you can great, but that is a bonus for the charity and shouldn`t be expected of the band.
9. Alex bought two amps from me, arranged the courier himself, payment was swift, comms were excellent, recommended.
10. I think I may finally be over in my search for tone nirvana. I`ve already found that the Fender Precision is the bass for me, and realised that the Sansamp is the preamp for me. Amp-wise I`d been nearly there but not quite and then realisation hit - the way it seems to at times - that every time I`ve used an Ashdown as a provided rig I`ve loved the "slam" that they give, as well as the tone. Additionally this seems to be irrespective of whatever cabs they`re hooked up to. Think the combination of Ashdown/Sansamp works really well, and contrary to belief, nowt woolly at all, no sheep in my sound.
11. On-stage volume is same as rehearsal volume for us. We rehearse every week no matter what, so if we can`t hear everything on stage that well it doesn`t stop us from being able to play as normal. It does seem to me that bands who rehearse less seem to need more in the monitors.
12. Congrats on the new bass, I have one of those too, and since getting it haven`t gigged, rehearsed, or recorded with anything else. Same colour scheme too, black/maple, though like FinnDave mine now sports a black (Fender of course) scratchplate. In my opinion the 2012 - 2016 Precisions are the best Fender have made, unless going into Custom Shop territory.
13. You might need to make a slight turn anti clockwise on the truss-rod as there will most likely be less tension on the lighter gauge strings, probably an eight of a turn to start, give the bass time to settle a bit.
14.
Glad I changed 'some dodgy geezer' to 'someone' in my post now!
Probably more right the first time...............
15. Kind of. For years I`d had the same eq settings, sounded great on stage, a perfect mix of low end and enough highs for clarity on the notes. And then I walked out front in the soundcheck to check the vox and all I could hear was a wall of mush. Hastily retreated to stage, upped the highs to the point where I thought it sounded a tad too weedy, went back out front and all was good in the world, perfect sound out front, no mush, no ice-pick highs.
16.
For future reference, brand new bass strings £1.71 plus 99p postage. https://www.amazon.c...=bass+strings+4

Looks like I have a new string supplier...
Yep, got a set on the way, has to be worth a try at that price.
17. Sean bought some strings from me. Swift payment, advised when items delivered, good transaction all round.
18. It has to be a choice made by ear, not recommendation imo. I`m a Barefaced owner/user and I love their cabs so would recommend them heartily, but at the SE Bass Bash a couple of years ago we did a cab shoot-out and the runaway winner was a Berg - the CN212 to be exact. Both makes are pretty high-end, so it`s down to the the ears of the user.
19.
In my experience, the best way to get a good Precision is to buy a Jazz bass, wait about 10 months, then meet someone in a motorway service station who has a Precision and swap with them. Worked for me , twice!
You may well be right there Dave
20. Did the ad say old/used bass, brand new strings. If not, file under fackwit. As others have said, unless a bass comes with the exact same brand/gauge of strings I use, they`re straight off, irrespective of newness, and a set of my preferred will be fitted.
21. Never Mind The Bollocks, by The Sex Pistols. Another 70s album as well!
22. I`d go for the NOS mentioned at £999. Fits all the bill imo. I should add that I have one of the US Standards, a 2015, plus a Mex 2012, and a Matt Freeman. All are great basses, play well, sound great but if I could only keep one, irrespective of value, it would be the US because it plays nicer and has a fuller sound to it (and I have the same pickups in the Mex).
23. I`ve played a couple of big stages without sound-check, so had to rely on the amp & cab for my on stage sound, rather than monitors. Without a nice powerful amp and efficient speaker I would have been in trouble so to speak. Sure I know the material well enough to play without hearing myself that well, but I still prefer to.
24. Current amp ticks all boxes except when pushed, get the same amp but with more power, has to be an MB500 imo.
