  1. Past hour
  2. Been fascinated by this for years, partly due to the fact that it was two days after I was born, but mainly as it is such a wonderfully 'odd' concept. There is also a longer film available on YouTube for those who may be interested.
  3. Alas, no. I really want one, but I’ve got a One10 and One10T… and I’m not in a band at the moment so I can’t justify it.
  4. Today
  5. 4 string recurve. 33 inch scale with a PB and RFB pickup combo and the uni pre. Nothing outlandish. A 50th present to myself.
  6. ...which is in the continent of North America. I think for a concept as broad as Americana many Canadian acts would fit in, as do some influences from Mexico.
  7. Neil Young and the Cowboy Junkies are Canadian, Young has spent a large part of his life in the US but started his musical career in Canada and The Junkies still are based in Canada. Just sayin'.....🇨🇦
  8. Yesterday
  9. 6 months on. EP recorded with Band - just waiting on mixes. Opposite of writers block; I’ve been writing continuously since December. The output has been of a consistent quality but it’s too much for the band to keep up with (and there are 3 other songwriters in the band so it’s busy…) 3 Festivals booked for summer. Have started a second project for my spare ideas with singer from new band. No funk, so it’s a change - just come home from second rehearsal with side project.
  10. These basses are fantastic! I feel bad for you having to sell it!
  11. I really like the Vanderkleys but I've already got a replacement cab (for now!!) so not really interested in a trade. But good thought!
  12. I've settled on a different mic and preamp combination for my DB so selling these - will take £175 posted for the two together. Fishman Platinum Stage preamp - £100 posted This is the simpler version of the Platinum Pro used by many double bassists. You get 3-band eq with a sweepable middle and a selector switch that sets the eq to cover either guitar or bass frequencies. Runs from phantom power, a 9v power supply or you can use a 9v battery. There's velcro on the back to put it on a pedal board - I've left this on but it would be easy to remove. K&K Bass Max pickup - £80 posted This is a very simple and convenient pickup that wedges under the bridge wing. The cable socket clips onto the afterlength of the strings. The sound is great - on my bass I get a very solid tone, perhaps a bit closer to fretless bass territory, with really excellent feedback resistance. I was using this with the Fishman and the combination would be perfect for someone playing DB in a reasonably loud band.

  14. Man, weird to see my own reply being the first response on this dead thread (as someone who's not exactly the most prolific of posters)
  15. I'd describe the tension as being medium, not as high as chrome's, fender or ghs precision, but not as light as TI's.
  16. That is a stunning bass and takes me back to Haircut 100!
  17. Now I have a decent sofa again, I need to do a new pic (or set of pics 😬)
  18. Hey im lucky enough to own a Sire and Sadowsky with the vintage pre. See if you can try before your buy as they are VERY different beasts ! Stealth
  19. Probably before your time, but does anyone in Leamington remember Head In A Helix?
