  1. Past hour
  2. YOU WANT A YAMAHA IN TRADE 👋🏻
  3. I've a C4 already (Or I'd snap this up), powered when I need it from my PJB BG120 ... an awesome setup. Someone is going to get an amazing deal/sound with these. GLWTS. Sam x
  4. I don't regularly listen to a lot of pop music however this piece is very good.
  5. Inspired by chat about current gear prices here and elsewhere, I thought I'd share this advert, which I recently stumbled across while digging through some newspaper archives for work-related research. This appeared in the 15 September 1963 edition of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The fact that Leonards (a local department store) was putting these prices up-front in big writing suggests to me that they regarded these as competitive – they wouldn't have been simply stating RRP here. To put these figures in context, here are the CPI-inflation-adjusted conversions of those prices. They're surprisingly close to the current RRP for top-of-the-line (non-custom-shop) American-made Fenders, higher in most cases. BASSES Jazz Bass $279.50 = $2,854.61 (£2,271.66) Precision Bass $229.50 = $2,343.95 (£1,865.28) Plus another $59.50 ($607.69; £483.59) if you're a fancypants who wants a case. GUITARS Stratocaster $259.50 = $2,650.35 (£2,109.11) Jazzmaster $349.50 = $3,569.54 (£2,840.59) Jaguar $379.50 = $3,875.94 (£3,084.42) Cases from $49.50 ($505.56; £402.31) AMPS Piggyback Bassman $399.50 = $4,080.21 (£3,246.97) Princeton $99.50 = $1,016.22 (£808.69) I've had a look through contemporary used car listings from the same area, and while you couldn't get a nice car for these sorts of prices, you could get a car. Instead of a Jazz Bass you could have picked up a (ahem, stick-shift) 1955 Mercury Montclair, and instead of the misbegotten beast that is the Fender Jaguar (with case), you could be cruising around in the misbegotten beast that is the Ford Edsel. Ask yourself, what are the ladies going to go wild for – a Fender Jaguar or this fly whip?
  6. It's just that headstock. It really doesn't float my boat. Apologies from a very shallow person.
  7. Benny and Miss Diane? I remember that, although not many do. I think it was in the directors cut. **
  8. Value is a slippery thing. There are a lot of giggable bases under £300, especially with some minimal tweaks and upgrades. I find value in my boutique bass when it encourages me to play it. So does a less expensive instrument, just not in the same way. The Pedulla is no case queen, but inspires me to play better.
  9. Who, I believe, was aping the Corronation Street theme tune. It's a rich tapestry...
  10. Don't know what model Sonny Thompson's Dolph is .... being white and that. Equipboard reckons it's a mere SN, not a Pro1, Paired with a big Trace rig ...as did Nirvana.... which is an unexpectedly great combination. If only I had the space I'd have kept my old trace combo just for the dolphin.
  11. Hi all My priorities have recently changed, it's no longer realistic to continue with double basses, so up for sale is my Stagg EUB. It's in good condition and comes with it's case, which is also in good condition. Collection from South Essex nr junction 26 of the M25 please Thanks BC
  12. EHX Bass microsynth for sale. It is in pretty much immaculate condition and sounds incredible. Bought for a project but no longer needed. Runs on 9v power so really easy to hook up. No original box unfortunately but it will come packed and with be posted special delivery with Royal Mail to a UK address. Alternatively you are welcome to collect from Leicester and I will knock a tenner off the price. Would look at trades for a nice fuzz/ fuzz octave/ overdrive
  13. Today
  14. I've just received Dave's EHX Bassballs, it arrived quickly and very well packed. I've just spent a couple of hours playing with this incredibly fun pedal - cheers Dave!
  15. My bass loves those keys with open strings in them.
  16. Keep on - don;t watching eurovision in future.
  17. Electro Voice Force 10 speaker 8 ohms 150 watts. These are renowned as being a great quality series of speakers from EV, this one came out of my mate's Peterson guitar combo. Works fine, I did some research and established it would also be fine in a bass cabinet. Don't want to post so collection welcome or happy to meet within a 25 mile radius of Daventry.
  18. This the one I got. It's so weird looking! I normally play doom and black metal hahaha. It's so out of my comfort zone since it's so colourful. I absolutely love it though. Very comfortable and sounds good.
