  1. Past hour
  2. Probably the best bass amp I’ve had. £300 short…unfortunately
  3. Good luck with getting gigs with that project! A Max Webster tribute would be a blast! I'm definitely up for doing a Kim Mitchell tribute if anyone is thinking of putting one together...!
  4. Today
  5. Decent gig tonight in Blackwood. Took my Thunder 1 and used it for the first set. Was a biker pub so the blues rock went down well. We knew dj on later, and about 20 minutes after we finished the jukebox got cut off a short way into a Metallica song, and awful club music started. By the timecwe finished packing up the clientele were almost completely different. I wore my Ryuk/Deathnote t-shirt I got sent from the USA which always gets more compliments than my playing!
  6. Just recently bought a Musicman Sterling Sub Series Ray 4, from Gear4music. It had an insignificant dent on the back so was sold as B stock, reduced to £230 from £419. I prefer the Jazz Bass style neck on the Sterling to the neck on my USA Stingray and it sounds just as a Stingray should with it's 2 band EQ.
  7. That 63 is something else, just pause before you do sell. Would take a lot of getting back - is that the one you swapped the Wal(s) for?
  8. I'd enjoy being in a tribute to Gong or Soft Machine (early stuff only). 😁
  9. I did a similar thing with a Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer, as used by Mark Knopfler and Steely Dan. Bought it for around £25, and sold it for £200 just before the (inferior) reissues came out. Also sold my 80’s Tube Screamer to a dealer a couple of years ago. Think it cost me around £30 new back then, got £250 for it.
  10. John (Noakes) I'm Only Dancing — David Bowie
  11. I'll echo what folk are saying about David and his basses; it's all true he really is a gent and the basses are great 😀 My first Retrovibes were a white Evo and a red Zygote, that was in 2014. A 5 string Vantage soon followed then it was an RV-4, next a Super - P came my way. All came nicely set up , looked great and were fun to play. As to the man himself, he's a gem 🙂 When I was hunting for certain Vintage bass, David spotted one and passed on the link. Once a Retrovibe beanie turned up unannounced, simply because David had ordered a batch/ knew I'm bald as a coot and that Scottish weather is 'changeable' 😄 The Super-P arrived with a series/parallel/tap mini switch, those weren't spec but our man knew I played T-40's and thought I'd appreciate the option 😎
  12. Not your fault. It sounded good from the car park. My fault for leaving it too late.
  13. Hi - looking to move my Epiphone on. Not sure how exclusive the Custom Shop is, but from what I've found online is that this was a limited edition short scale version of the Gibson EB3 which is a lot more faithful to the original than the current long scale model. Love the white finish, which again doesn't seem to have been produced in large numbers. Plays really well with a set of La Bella flats & sounds pretty authentic. Comes with a gig bag, but won't be able to post so looking for a cash/collection deal in Newcastle upon Tyne & open to offers. Would possibly consider trades for another short scale bass with cash either way - give me a shout if you're interested... 😉👍
  14. I use a Zoom H4 essential for ambient these days, but i was using a cheap Behringer B-5 mic in to a small mixer before that and it worked really well. Once i had it sorted out i felt much more comfortable with IEM’s. I guess one question is do you want stereo or mono? Personally i find stereo much more natural sounding. Even though the bass is mono it’s nice to hear a bit of spread from the room IME. You could get a small Behringer mixer and a pair of Behringer C-2 mics for around £100.The mics even come with a mic stand holder that holds both.
  15. Oh heck, sorry Rob. It was a pretty good gig, but our gig at the Rose & Crown later was better. The Aspinall was absolutely rammed with people. They must make a mint.

ZOOM B6 recognizes Guitar Lab for windows. Always has.
  17. I think we may have played on the same list as Katy, although I'm not positive. We definitely did something with Gasoline and Matches, although it was only the "front three" of guitar, vocals and violin.
  18. Little update - added a preamp for my fretless ABG to hopefully tame it at volume.
  19. I had a mint, still in the box with manual, Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal that I bought for 68 Euros. Then John Meyer started using one and the value went through the roof. Sold it just before they announced the reissues for £650.
  20. Great basses, the 63 is killer though, I loved that bass man. I know what you mean re gigging values though, sometimes it doesn’t make financial sense to take something so valuable
  21. I use a BB2 and a Super Midget. That gives me a choice of three rigs. For most gigs it's the BB2 on its own. Frank.
  22. This one runs the tubes/valves on 300 Volts, should work different from the Streamliner. Hopefully I get mine delivered tomorrow. It should have been here Friday 3rd, but the sh*tty Fedex changed delivery time from "before 18.00" to "not specified".
