  2. By my understanding this one can be justifiably called rare (although, more than happy to be corrected). It’s an unusual factory special order PB70US in Capri orange. The ‘US’ in the title refers to these having the USA precision pickup. I was going to upgrade the pots but never got round to it as it sounded bloody marvellous anyway, but will include these in the sale. Comes with the original white pickguard and Japanese paperwork. Pickguard has been changed to black (looked more 70s that way) and bridge and pickup covers added. It’s got a lovely dark rosewood fretboard and is a joy to play. Currently sporting flatwounds (and a lump of foam for that Motown sound). Includes the fender gig bag. Condition is pretty good used condition -odd mark, scratch and light ding, though nothing major, have tried to capture these warts and all in the photos. Happy to share more and answer any questions if you’ve concerns. Would prefer buyer to collect from north Northamptonshire (just off the a14 near Kettering), or can drive to meet. I do have boxes, but not having a hard case it won’t be insured, so would prefer not to go down that route. Open to sensible offers on price and will entertain trades too.
  3. Had our triannual meeting at Sheffield station, always a pleasure doing a deal with Alain.Best Rich😊
  4. Well @Rayman, is there another cream one on the way? 😉
  5. The first bass I bought in 1989 was £350. That would have been close to my months take home pay as a school leaver. I think I was paying 33% tax on £6kpa.
  6. If this bass is in otherwise good original condition - especially if it it still has the Shaftesbury branded TRC - it is probably worth more than £100. Unless you intend to keep it forever and gig it regularly, any modifications you make (especially non-reversible ones) will devalue it should you ever want to resell it and you'll probably find yourself mocked in the eBay forum on this site should you do so. Without seeing the actual bass it's impossible to give a 100% definitive answer, but I'd consider getting the pickup issues sorted out in the least intrusive way possible, and if it then turns out to be not for you, you should make a decent profit when you sell it which will allow you to get something that you will use. Paging @Bassassin
  7. I have a 3d scanner that I brought off kickstarter, still sitting it's box under the desk. I keep saying I'll get it working but so busy these days. Stuff like thumb rests are pretty simply. Designing a thumb rest to fit onto a standard scratchplate into the right holes is no effort at all. perhaps there's a business there
  8. And a much better amplifier, that 6 1/2 “ speaker won’t do you any favours.
  9. A local chap in our village has a glorious yellow Edsel convertible. It’s a huge impressive looking boat of a car.
  10. Only time I've ever been breathalysed in nearly 29 years of driving was when I was living in Dublin and had been out for dinner for my birthday. I'd had one Guinness and some JD sauce on a steak, and the young garda who pulled me over looked more amused than anything as he let me drive the 100yds or so I still had left to go home.
  11. Genzler Nu Classic 210T Padded Cover £55 Posted. One of these would cost you cost £95 + shipping if you wanted one for your cab, this is totally brand new and unused.

  13. @castlemaine22 has designed a few things like that - they were very cool
  14. Price includes shipping, great condition, barely used, comes with original box. Any questions let me know. Thanks Dan
  15. Best of luck. Get started and give it your best shot. If you find you are enjoying it all, you'll be hooked for life. Let us know how you get on.
  16. I know a few local musos who regularly drive after a jazz cigarette or two, and don’t even think it matters as anything like as much as drink driving. Doing long journeys all over the UK for many years, I’ve witnessed so much bad driving late at night that could only be explained by drink and drugs. It’s certainly appeared to escalate over the last couple of years too.
  17. I’m happy to say I don’t have tinnitus but I am slightly deaf in my right ear. I use KZ ZS 10’s at home through a Focusrite for practice and sometimes hear the odd flat sounding note. But the same IEM’s fed through our mixer on a gig present no such issues. The world is weird sometimes.
  18. Thanks for that, appreciated. It's on Facebook, that's where I seen it. I work in newcastle at the Marie Curie hospice in Elswick, so I'm calling in on the way home to have a look at it. I'm gonna do as suggested earlier and just put a wrap on the pickguard....I really can't have it black and white (smiley face here). I'll hoy some pics up if I buy it.
  19. Its a thing i've never done. I've never smoked and always found it disgusting so i guess i was never tempted into it thru smoking unlike many guys i knew from back in 70's who are now sadly long gone thru escalating drug misuse. Dave
  20. Hi Rob I deal with additive manufacturing as part of my day job so definitely of interest for me. I keep thinking about the ZeroMods parts and how expensive they whether I should just buy a few and scan them....
  21. I don't use IEMs but something similar happens to me, generally towards the end of a gig on the occasions that it does happen. It's not specific notes, it's any note, and I finish up checking that I am playing the right note as it sounds so out. Fortunately it didn't happen when I played exclusively fretless, but now I play fretted and it does.
  22. That is an option - but I have one already and kind of like the P aesthetic.
  23. I remember when i first moved into our village i was down at the one and only pub at Hogmanay and after the bells the local Bobbies came in, had a look around , had a wee dram each and left. Was breathalysed once during day at a road side stop where they randomly picked people to stop. I hadn't been drinking night before so was ok but that was way back in late 80's. I've been stopped in middle of the night when attending call outs for work but guys were fine when i explained what i was doing and where i had been. Was just a routine stop and search, i was pleasant enough to them and they responded same. For me i thought "at least they are doing something" Pretty sure that its a zero tolerance limit up here in Scotland, not sure about rest of UK. I very rarely drink these days and i'm happier drinking bottled water at gigs than beer. I've mellowed with age. Dave
