  1. Past hour
  2. Similarly disappointed. (My dad-joke on seeing "Huge carpet sale" signs.)
  3. Great review and I echo all your sentiments. This cab is seriously impressive!
  4. I prefer it in the 'new' colour, adds to the retro chic, as do the lipstick pickup covers, it looks amazing now, like a forgotten entry in an old Danelectro catalogue
  5. If my sound is dull or flat it's time to change strings. ☺️
  6. That comes as no surprise. 25x25mm pieces of wood connecting the sides to each other and the top to the bottom is the equivalent of doubling the panel thickness for vibration reduction. Three spaced around the driver hole connecting the baffle to the back does the same. 25 to 50mm thick foam or polyester wadding on the interior stops internal reflections that lead to ragged midrange response.
  7. I would buy this if I didn't already have two. I love the look and they feel so comfortable to play. This is a bargain.
  8. I've had my Bass Centre branded hiscox Liteflite for well over twenty years and it is still in near-perfect condition. My '81 precision lives in it an says it is very comfy. Such a shame to see a universally well regarded company close its doors.
  9. Great review, I`m sure at some point I`ll end up with some form of LFSys cab, they just seem to tick all points, only thing really stopping me is I haven`t had to use my own rig for years, all the gigs I do have gear already there.
  10. Too Late, Too Late - Queen
  11. For the last few weeks we've been working on nine new covers and last night we allowed ourselves a smug nod with the realisation that eight of them are finally ready to go into the set.
  12. Not unlikely. If he's been trading for 40 years, Brynn must be thinking of retirement. If he can sell the brand name and add something to his retirement pot, good luck to him.
  13. I can recommend @Manton Customs - Robin just did an amazing job on my Maruszczyk Elwood 5a Absolution, truss rod replacement for the "soviet era" rod in there after it gave up (seriously, it's not a good design) - also put carbon rods in. Sourced, aged and replaced binding for the board which looks excellent. Now playing so nicely! There's a thread for the work over here:
  14. Hmm, it would appear that my bass has seen some sun. The letters on the neck heel ("SL") and this page of the Burny/Fernandes catalogue from 1991 suggests that when it was new, it was silver... It's gone a bit gold/green/yellow depending upon the light. I love finding out stuff like this
  15. What?! This is way too cheap. Someone please buy it.
  16. These seem to be getting a bit rarer but despite chasing one of these for years after selling my first i think i need to acknowledge my back needs some lighter weight gear. Here we have a USA made SVT III which preceded the current 3pro's. This one has the much famed SVT IIP preamp couples with a big old led sled solid state power amp. 3 x 12AX7's give it a nice throaty growl but there is no full on valve distortion here just a nice old school type roar. Is missing one slider cap but can still be changed with a plectrum - not that i use the graphic EQ anyway. A few of the pots could do with a blast of deoxit as the amp has been set at my fave EQ and never really changed. I dont have a rack case or anything so ideally its collection from Bolton only but could meet within reason. Possibly consider a part ex for an Ashdown Little Bastard/CTM30 Pics to follow asap

  17. Ha! I'm not a smoker so am going to bypass that option! The iron chloride I used to stain the wood left some dark patches so I'm quite happy with that look... I don't know if that was a just a thing on Clapton's strat though - or whether other famous relics suffered the same?
  18. The early Italian Markbass R500s - are they class D or class A/B?  Mixed messages online from they ARE class D, they ARENT class D to early ones weren't but later ones are!?!?!

  19. Today
  20. Trace Elliot Series 6 AH500X, great sounding amp, has cosmetic wear that can be seen in photos, ( someone spent a lot of time EQuing ) but works fine, passive output jack is a bit scratchy, could do with a service. This is a 100V model works fine with a step down transformer, but if you are handy with a soldering iron, you can rewire this to UK Voltage. Pickup only, Thanks
  21. Good question. Will weigh it this evening and let you know
  22. Like @Musicman666, I’m quite surprised that they hadn’t already moved some, or all production to a lower cost geography. “Made in UK” might have been part of their USP but surely not at any cost. Unfortunately, businesses have to move with the times.
  23. Hey! Sorry I have just seen this, they are trim pots for the pre amp, very versatile!
  24. Pedal bought from Ashdown as I love their signature range - and It's Guy Pratt - who doesn't like guy Pratt ?? But apart from testing it it has sat unused in it's box. So lets find it a great home. Comes with all the "case candy" including the unused rubber feet. Note that it requires a good quality 18v power supply.
