  2. Great news to hear Bruce intends to perform live again during early to mid 2026 after previous anouncements about "stepping back" from performances in late 2024. He's looking good when he mentions the tour in a brief Facebook reel: facebook.com/reel/1281577059782350 Detail on the band seems v sparse at time of post so if anyone can share some info it would be appreciated - especially about the other musicians in the All-Star line-up. Thanks

  4. Its sold, to me :). great bass and unreal neck. Pick guard was just random piece but yes covered the cable route.
  5. The wiring is finished! Last night I wired up the master volume, and I've just now finished doing all the heater filaments. I had put the tag strip with the heater balancing resistors next to the pilot light but that turned out to be stupidly inaccessible for all the connections I had to make. I moved the tag strip to a better location and got to it. I'm a little way from plugging in though. Next session I will compare the built amp to both the layout and the schematic, and buzz out all the connections with my test meter. Then I'll think about applying power...
  6. Here is my fender Mex P which i purchased brand new in 2021,it's in excellent condition and it's only been played at home. I never really took to the neck to be fair,i'm more of a Jazz bass neck fan. Anyway it's not being given the playing justice it deserves so i'm moving it on to someone who'll actually play this lovely Bass. I upgraded the Pickup in 2022 to Fender pure Vintage 63 ones. I also changed the pickguard to the tort one seen here. I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINALS FOR THE ABOVE WHICH CAN BE ADDED FOR £60 ON TOP. I have added the Fender specs for clarity also. The guitar can be played and inspected and picked up at my home address in Derbyshire So it is COLLECTION ONLY on this one. So it's time to treat yourself. This is a CASH ONLY SALE payable at the point of collection. The original white scratch plate is available at no extra cost if required.

  8. Nothing outstanding but here is some Animal by Def Leppard
  9. Great basses. Beautiful necks. I’ve got a Precision that I took the neck off and replaced it with one from one of these. Perfection 😁

Picked up his Clayton Jazz Bass on a wild ride of impulsive behaviour and serious sherwood green GAS. Super prompt response, no messing about, and was really helpful throughout the whole transaction. Even drove halfway to meet me under the threat of rush hour traffic. Nice natter before we went our separate ways. Pleasure to deal with and very happy with the bass!
  11. Yep, they're branded Neutrik, but I think that's just the plugs. They're made to order but I can't remember where I got this from, maybe someone else can advise. 🙂
  12. Happy to help. As someone who struggled to get survey responses for my masters thesis I feel your pain (yes, that was a very bad pun)
  13. i don’t need another bass!! I don’t need another bass! I’m digging this colour and the red one. Pino and Hurley vibes
  14. As others have said depends entirely on where you live. I live in London so it's possible for me to get to rehearsals or gigs fairly easily by public transport. Like others here have mentioned, our band has a permanent rehearsal room we rent and share with a few other bands, so all the bulky difficult-to-transport equipment stays in there. Which is just as well because we use massive 100W Marshall heads and I've got a Peavey bass head that weighs more than a collapsed sun. Plus cabinets, the PA, mic stands etc etc. We can even keep guitars in there so that we don't have to take those. I personally drive to rehearsals just because I'm lazy and it's easier than public transport with my huge pointy bass getting in people's way on the tube. The rest of my band members make their own way but I usually offer to drive two of them to the singer's house since it only adds about 20 minutes to my journey home. As others have said - it's possible to deal with by a combination of taxis, public transport if applicable, and lifts from other band members, mates, family or friends. It might be a lot of hassle but it could be possible. If you can fit all your gear into a bass case then you should be able to make it work. Having to transport more gear (like amps or cabinets or elaborate pedalboards) will be tougher but if you're clever with getting lightweight stuff you mayyyy be able to get by. At this point though you might have to start wondering if it's at all possible to think about at least learning to drive since it could be less hassle and potentially cheaper than buying new lightweight gear and getting taxis everywhere etc.
  15. Nice score. Jon makes some stunning stuff, the fretless Uberhorns being probably the stunning-est.
  16. I should have quoted the post, sorry all.
  17. Learnt my lesson. I'll keep an eye on their domain name and if they forget to renew even for a few hours, that might be unfortunate. I'll break the unit open and if nothing else I'll have a 12" speaker and tweeter to play with. It might be an easy fix, but suspect its junk. Of course if somebody has a broken case and a working set of internal bits, that could be useful Rob

    Roland VB99

Yes I’ve been using one for a very long time now. I don’t use the synth parts any more but instead it’s my audio interface and multi fx for my basses and for driving my headphones and Bassboard. I love the form factor and the usability (though probably only because I’m so used to it). I think it’s a fantastic preamp with superb effects built in. I haven’t felt the need to to replace it despite its age - if it sounds good, it’s good.

  20. Wow, beautiful! GLWTS!!
  21. I just took delivery of a CMC Prototype V2. It's a great tube/amp sounding low to mid gain drive, with some great tone shaping controls. Similar to the OG Jive in some ways (though a less fuzzy character), but with more control over the drive sound. I apologise for not providing pictures.
  22. This looks an incredible bargain, please someone snap it up. I've already got too many basses and I'm currently building 4!
  23. need to watch an actual review but had a fun 30 min playing around with it on Neuro app on my laptop. Does some cool stuff
  24. If I recall, @ped used to rock the VB99 as his go to for quite some time and used to swear by it.
  25. I haven't had the chance to compare to a Bassman 50, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be in the ballpark since it's also a fixed bias push-pull 6L6 pair with the same nominal power rating. We have a drummer with reasonable dynamics who's not a shed-builder, and our guitarist usually uses a Blues Junior, and in that context it does fine. Running the midrange control most of the way up helps things to be audible too, an option you don't have on a Fender tone stack. I can hear that it's starting to grit up and squash a little on louder notes when I get to around 2pm on the master volume, though that was at a gig where I was running into a single 12" without PA support and the guitarist had a larger combo than usual. I had it running into a venue's house Orange 8x10 on Friday, and it felt plenty loud that way!
