David Morison started following What's bigger than an Elf?
-
If you really like the tone of the Elf & don't mind carrying both and you weren't needing the Elf's DI for normal FOH feed, you could run the Elf's DI into the fx return of the Eden to take advantage of the latter's increased headroom. Would need an XLR to TS adaptor cable, and it's a bit clunky, but might get you the best of both worlds.

Can anyone identify this 8 string bass (with trem!)?

This is one of my favourite videos on YouTube with Abe Laboriel Sr on an 8 string Ibanez I think -

Hi, did Julia get back to you? I've a B3 and would love to try the settings. And have you seen the newly released MXR Bass Synth, shaped and promoted by Ian Allison? I'm sorely tempted but its a lot of dosh.

Not mine, but saw the ad and thought of this group https://www.facebook.com/share/1DbCrhekso/ -
Ordered mine from andertons on 3rd may. Official line is still September from them. Got to factor in that scandanavia is shutting down for the next month I guess…Should have bought from guitar guitar when they came up and cancelled andertons but never mind!

kiat started following New MXR bass synth pedal released
-
As a covers band player with a Zoom B3 multipedal this is the only pedal I've been tempted to buy, very tempted. In the USA its $270, that's about £198 at today's exchange rate - but £289 everywhere in the UK. That's a big mark up in MRP. That Ian Allison promo video is exceptional - he's unique! Very talented, direct and likeable.

I always used to smile when I saw early photos of Pat Metheny playing his Gibson Es175. He suffered a broken strap button early on in his career and did a temporary fix with a toothbrush. It stayed like that for decades.

Aimed primarily at the country market but I don’t see why you couldn’t fool it with a lower tuning

Well here’s a thing apparently ”It appears in that video that you have two options for running stereo- TRS from the main output or using the second jack.” So you can in fact have stereo and expression.

Remastered doesn't mean its any better
PaulWarning replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Remixes can make a big difference, remasters not so much, most remixers/remasters I've heard involve the bass being boosted, no bad thing IMO -
They should have kept the S-1 series/parallel switch found on passive American Series Jazz Basses. As it was so unobtrusive it would be up to the user to ignore it if they wanted it in parallel the whole time. Nothing lost there and an extra sound palette for the series switching fans. In fact have it on even the active Jazzes. Didn't see the point of it as much on P basses however.

I've got some good remasters & remixes and some not so good. The Beatles Giles Martin ones are really good (though you can tell that Macca was involved and Ringo wasn't!). Steve Wilson does some good stuff, but sometimes he's hampered by whether the originals are available to work from (a couple of albums are missing bits). Rush ones can be variable - one of the albums was deliberately recorded to sound good on cheap radios and the information simply isn't there to get back. I think some of the remixes/remasters were done by people who've lost the upper ranges of their hearing, because they can be like sandpaper on the ears. It's all very much a mixed bag. -
My wife has bought me an acoustic bass and a Tele. We are not rich but we both work and don't question each other's purchases.

Band Mule: A calendar app for bands Anyone using it?
PTB replied to Phil Starr's topic in General Discussion
We use BandMule in the tribute band. Never used anything similar before and I like it. It's been very reliable for us. Our Manager updates the gigs section so there's no double counting/confusion and band members just enter our dates when we are unavailable. -

I'm gonna try again this month. I have a bit of time. Gonna go with an idea of twisting something as it goes along and have some mystical elements. -
I cannot confirm or reject that as i am not willing to operate a 6 string bass. 😂👍🏾

I'm impressed, the Ruf Guitars website is absolutely dreadful. The Status one was very 1990s with its click to enter design, but Ruf is so much worse.

I'm with you on that one as 'Raw Power' is one of my favourite albums of all time. The accepted reason for its poor quality for a long time was that the rhythm section tracks had been bounced down and were therefore all Bowie had to work with when he did the original mix. Obviously Iggy's 1997 mix blew that fact out of the water but that remix is such an utter piece of garbage that its unlistenable. 'Raw Power' really deserves to be remixed by someone competent. So do the pre 'Raw Power' demos of all the great tracks that Main Man rejected ('I Got A Right' 'Scene Of The Crime' etc) although, as demos, the chances of those multitracks existing would be slight, I would suspect. Mind you, even in their current state they still sound better than anything on any version of 'Raw Power'. -
I’ve got a TC RS210c 2x10 cab for sale. This is the cab used for the TC RS combos. The shelf is also the right size for a Markbass head. Decent condition - a few scapes in the bottom as to be expected. Comes with a cover and the trolley handle. I also have a TC BG250 head for sale separately. Trade wise, I’m looking for a 4x10 cab - thinking Ashdown ABM but not too fussed. Collection from Tewkesbury as I don’t have anything to ship it in
