  2. Mrs667's dad was a miner. See what happens if you say COPD is self-inflicted to him or one of his former colleagues. But this isn't what your thread is about. I have very extreme relationships with everything. I used to ride bikes to the level where I believe it was unhealthy. I had a resting heart rate of 43 and rode 300+ miles a week. I would routinely drop 16 year olds on mopeds. It took over my life. I fell out of it after a crash, then a summer of booze and depression. I have a much better relationship with excercise now, and I'm mostly off the booze. Just do the right thing 75% of the time and you're ok. I really love my electric bike. There are impressive hills in the peaks - you still have to excercise with the ebike but it effectively levels the hills. I still get a workout, but I'm not knackered. It was a kit that cost about £500. I genuinely believe electric bikes are one of the best inventions of this century. Add to that gardening and a bit of yoga. I used to do a lot of walking but my dog is now really old and walking isn't the same without a dog. In the future there will be another dog so hiking will be back in.
  3. Def the Fender. Even though the general sound of the Yam is what I aim for I prefer to sculpt/remove from the warmer more rounded Fender sound, figuring I can remove what is there to whatever degree needed, but can’t add what isn’t there in the first place. When I have the Fender as I want it it still retains an overall warmth which the Yam lacks.
  4. Firstly, sorry for the loss of your cousin, that is terrible that it was so short. I agree with everything you said, but would add the caveat that it can also be the opposite scenarios.
  5. Pickup has a vintage voice with about 1/3 extra volume (passive), which is helpful for muted genres like Reggae or Oakland Funk etc and then just roll back for normal.
  6. What mic is it..? With the quality of many current new mic's being so good, is the replacement justified..? If it's a quality mic from a Big Name, a replacement from the factory might be the best bet, but a new Superlux starts at £30. Not an option..?
  7. just in case anyone is interested, i found this... warning,,, this is real cork sniffing stuff !
  8. Poor Twisted Me - 'tallica

  10. So do you have a preference between the natural sound of the two? I understand the Fender will probably be the more familiar sounding of the two but if you could only pick one based on personal preference?
  11. Point of order, not all COPD is self inflicted.
  12. I find the difference between my Fender Precision and my Yamaha BB1100s is that the P pickup soloed on the Yam sounds like the Fender after it`s had a bit of eq or compression applied, a bit crisper on the highs and less in the low mids/tighter in the lows. This at home practice levels playing along to YouTube, I doubt I`d notice at band volumes.
  13. cool, I'll check you guys out if you come my way at all
  14. Still available.
  15. Welcome Gremlin.
  16. I Need A Dollar - Aloe Blacc
  17. IME scale length does make a different on a 36" Overwater Original or the 37" low-B on a Dingwall, but 35" on a budget bass not so much. If a manufacturer can make a 35" scale bass with a decent sounding and feeling low-B they can probably make a 34" scale one too. Neck construction, stiffness and the rigidity of the neck joint (if it's not a through-neck bass) are the most important factors.
  18. We only gig about once a month. I do sod all exercise really but am trying to do more walking as I now deal with all the pa gear and am starting to feel it in my bones. Being a truck driver sitting down for long periods isn`t helping either. My main problem when gigging is the first 2 fingers on my right hand. As we play pretty hard and fast (too fast sometimes thanks to drummer boy) my fingers end up chewed after the first set (we usually play for 2.5 hours). I`m trying to get used to playing with a pick but find it hard to get the speed and keep it consistent.
  19. I don't think you could go wrong with this bass, as long as you don't plan to jump up and down on it mid-song like Lee Rocker. These are fully carved I think, so if you want to use it for jazz & other non-slap styles as well as rockabilly, you'd have the tone you need with the right mic or pickup. I used to have a Stentor 1950, ply back n sides, which was small bodied and light, perfect for tight gigs.
  20. 34mm condensor mic capsule replacement has anyone done one ? iv been using mine for 30ish years now and i think the capsules need replacing mainly cutting out while singing with anything breathy, even though there is a pop filter so to my question which ones are good ones ? there are loads on ebay all about 20 to 30 quid, but are they any good ? has anyone done one ? if so which one ? and was there any difference in sound from the original ( when it was working ) cheers all
  21. I doubt it out front. It is probably one of those things we notice, solo, in a studio environment. I really like the way the P bass sits in my current project, but nobody else would/does or cares 😂 Similarly, for functions stuff I’d pick the BB because I prefer the slap sound… but as above, non-bassists wouldn’t notice.
  22. Could only be a few weeks/months. People die at different ages every day and sometimes family members are keen to liquidate assets. Sudden heart attacks, hit by a car. Heck, my cousin (early 40s) died within two weeks of a brain cancer diagnosis.
  23. Lovely bass, I'm a lefty as well, chose to learn right handed instead, certainly more instruments available.

  25. Huge thumbs up for Vanderkley cabs - currently running a pair of 210MNTs (Eich T900)... by far the best cabs I have ever owned and used. You won't need it, but GLWS anyway🤣
  26. Admittedly there are. Even in your scenario though, how long has the instrument been left untouched? Theres risk involved in any second hand purchase and I choose to risk as little as I can.
  27. My American Fender Jazz body has the same pickup hole sizes.
