  1. Past hour
  2. Future Impact V4 or V4 VIP would allow you to trigger the synth oscillators using your bass.
  3. Just filling in with my brother-in-laws band Goo supporting Marmozets. Such a fun gig! Gutted I didn’t get more time in Bristol, we had to shoot off early.
  4. Oops sorry I don't know how that double-posted! Thanks for answering anyway
  5. Currently on BBC4. The Who from Glastonbury 2007. Pino doing a fine job on bass with a massive sound.
  6. The handles on the 112 are not in the right place for a balanced lift and carry.
  7. Do not underestimate this make of pickups, Delano are excellent,
  8. Yesterday
  9. I'd seriously love to relieve you of the burden of bumping this, but now is definitely the wrong time for me to be weighing out for this. I'll keep coming back to it just to torture myself though. Somebody buy it - please!

  11. Argh, I just accidentally lost the best FM bass patch I’ve created so far. Dexed always defaults to slot 1 when saving and I clicked too hastily. So annoyed.
  12. You already ask that earlier in the thread and I answered:
  13. Ashdown amps are usually flat with the controls at 12 o'clock.
  14. Do the modern Ashdown amps have plenty of treble bite and high end sizzle?
  15. Had some messages and interest, but nothing has come of it surprisingly! A very pretty brilliant sounding passive Stingray in a noice colour. I tried to see if you could only play rage on it, and it turns out you can play other things!? Plot twist of the ages! 😉 But seriously, this is a really nice bass that actually proper surprised me with the sound. It’s got some beef behind it. Even an inbuilt boost.
  16. Hi Steve, It's great to know you're out there somewhere and there's still interest in these basses. I bought a Chieftain from an auction a couple of years ago. Serial number P.010. It was in a very sorry state but I've almost got it playable - just need to sort out the electronics and dress the frets. It's a great bass and I can't wait to get it gigging again. Thanks for all the info.
  17. Wenge / Elm bass update: it lives. Thought I’d share a quick resurrection story in case anyone else needs reassurance that instruments can come back from the brink. This one very nearly became “that bass I don’t talk about”. What started as a simple refinish escalated into: poly having a meltdown heat gun decisions I immediately regretted a drop-top seam briefly auditioning for independence and a small chunk of wenge making a bid for freedom near the pickup route At one point I was genuinely Googling “is relicing a legitimate coping mechanism”. Anyway… slow down, walk it back, glue where glue belongs, patch where wood went missing, black grain fill doing some very heavy lifting, and a lot of patience later — it’s back on its feet. Still some sanding to do to remove the grain filler then oil and shellac ready for nitro clearcoat. I also took the opportunity to do a comfort carve into the wenge to make it more hmmmm. The seam is solid, the top is flat, the grain is doing that wenge thing again, and structurally it’s absolutely sound. More importantly, it looks like a bass rather than a cautionary tale. Lesson (re)learned: Heat guns are not subtle tools Wenge forgives, but only if you apologise properly Fixing your own mistakes is annoying… but also oddly satisfying Onwards now to finishing, hardware, and pretending this was all part of the plan. Builds aren’t always about the glossy photos at the end — sometimes they’re about dragging something back from the dead and quietly nodding at it when it survives.
  18. Just watching The Who live on TV at moment. From their Electric Proms at The Roundhouse i think 2006 era. BBC4 Jings they were good. Dave
  19. If you were prepared to overlook pedantry, you could have celebrated twice. Like I did.
  20. Hello again, Few more sounds about the Vari-mid tweaking: for each pickup position, I've set up bass at noon, treble a very little rolled off, and the Vari-mid at +50% level. Then i've started to play with the Vari-mid to high-mid maximum, and slowly came back to low-mid. I've played the same thing each time to clearly show differences. Enjoy !
  21. I'm not an expert but I think you can adjust the input level on the audio input of the Minitaur with a MIDI control message. No idea about the Grandmother. You could try using a DI box, that should give a line level voltage instead of instrument level. If you want to plug into the audio input, the Sonuus Midi converter is not the solution since that will give you a MIDI out signal. If you do want a MIDI signal, there is so much latency with a bass guitar that the Sonuus units are almost unusable. They're a lot better with guitar frequencies. The best solution is to play the basslines on the MIDI keyboard and forget about the bass guitar.
  22. Thomann no hidden costs.
  23. But what will you do when your 3rd party plug-ins need to be upgraded because you've upgraded to a new Mac or MacOS or a new version of Logic and old ones don't work any more? Or if the developer decided they don't want to develop a particular plug-in anymore or they go out of business (cf Native Instruments)? And what do you £1800 worth of plug-ins do that you couldn't do already with the massive number that are part of the standard Logic install? Logic already has more quality effects and instrument plus-ins than most of the studios that produced some of the all-time classic recordings. Wouldn't it be prudent to spend the time learning to get the best out of what you already have first? It strikes me that there are a significant number of users for whom the main reason to get a new plug-in is the vast number of pre-sets that come with it rather than learning how to create something new of their own.
  24. Someone on a newsgroup I'm on has been using Claude Code to diagnose issues in code, as well as generating code.
