Yesterday morning I picked up a few items that had fallen out of the recycling bag. A bean can lid made a big slice along my ring fingernail. Spent all day with it plastered up and it appeared to have sealed, but I touched it up with superglue just in case... Last night's Fortunate Sons gig was for the Rusty Sprocket MCC and locals at a pub in Rumney. Usually the band play their festival every year but this year the dates didn't work, a shame as it's an event I'd love to play. Setting up this happened... yes leaking either side of the glue patch. It stopped bleeding but a rummage in my hits box later and it opened right up, about 4mm deep and 15mm long. Luckily th drummer has special 'wrap' elastoplasts with long tails. I've still got it on and will leave it for a couple of days. Gig itself was good although I made a few fluffs, only partly due to my padded ginger ... like remembering to tune back up from D but not switching myself off standby. Got an immense sound from my Epiphone Embassy with a nice overdrive when digging in. Great reception and possibility of a slot at a big bike festival in the summer.

Ah right, I stand corrected. I thought that Direct Drive wasn't ideal for hi-fi and the 1200 types were all DJ focussed. Either way, years of DJing and playing in bands means my hearing wouldn't tell any difference between hi-fi and fisher price!

No. The rest of us needed someone clever to spot it as well. 🤣

I have a Mk1 and it has the opposite problem, the FX loop runs extremely hot so most pedals don’t output a level as hot as its own tube preamp. Then again, I’ve never felt the need to use the fx return. Bass Gear mag measured the preamp to be pretty much flat with the bass/treble knobs at minimum and the mids at maximum, so you could just set it like that and use the main input if you wanted a flat power amp. Although I understand the Mk2 preamp differs somewhat so the flat EQ positions may well differ.

Upgrading is possible, if you have a basis for comparison. At a minimum that requires testing your speakers for frequency response, and knowing their T/S specs.

Humour bypass going ok?

I used to DJ quite a bit back in the 80s & 90s. The majority of the time was on 1200/1210 decks. I know that they're associated strongly with DJing rather than home HiFi, but from the research that I've done on the Mk7 decks, the GR2 and the G are more aimed at the HiFi market (they do a standard version for about £800, which is more aimed at the DJ market). HiFi shops sell the GR & G, but rarely the standard & DJ shops rarely offer the GR or G (some do, but not many).

Has it been shipped? If not can you not just cancel your order and then order again?

If I recall the Orange Terror amps have some quirky thing going on with the FX loop. I’m sure I read something about it on in here a few years back where the master volume doesn’t work although the mk1 did Perhaps try a dummy jack into the input as I recall another amp brand did something odd if nothing plugged into the input jack even though you want to only use fx return

Conversely, I've just had an hour long meeting with a couple of people I don't know very well on a personal level. We discussed something very important to all of us and required every ounce of my emotional intelligence to learn and pick up on their micro body language and inferred language. I'm ready to go back to bed. I certainly couldn't do that regularly for very long. When machines have learned to do that, we are in trouble. Until machines learn to do that, they are not going to be much of a problem to us.

I was fortunate enough to play with the Skids, two things struck me, first Richard Jobson is such a nice bloke, second was that although I was never a major fan just how many of their songs I knew. If asked I’d probably have said 2 or 3 max but ended up knowing well over half their set. Sign of a good band that.
