  3. Hi folks, Just in case any of us bedroom players wonder how to go about the replacement of that little jet engine fan at the back of RM 500 EVO & I think someone already mentioned it in one of previous posts but just in case.. It's purpose is: ,,the fan is there to change the air inside the enclosure, it does not have to provide a blast, just a gentle air exchange, to this end any fan you choose would be suitable.,, These are the words of mr.Dave Green from Ashdownmusic, who kindly responded to my query over what specs should the replacement fan be. So i am truly very grateful for his response given the original email was sent to ,,whoever,, at Ashdownmusic. Credit to them. 💗 That being said, the fan inside seem to be 60 x 60, might be 15 mm thick but i have feeling there is enough room for 25mm. So i ordered fan from RS Components, 19 Db at some 2500 rpm (RS badged, the other one with similar specs,if not slightly better, better make, was about £15 more)& if the plonkers from DHL have delivered it yesterday (it's just past midnight) i could of have had it fitted by now. Two wires to solder or just to attach correctly. The original fan is some no name stuff, the noise reminds me of APU at the back of RyanAir Boeing 737 when walking around the left wing towards rear entry lol.. Now seriously, it isn't bad at all but i like to muck about the things so hence the change, i've got Warwick Gnome iPro v2 and that is quieter then a tombstone compared to RM but then it is much smaller in size as you all know, less then A5, just over an inch thick.

  5. These are quite sought after - the Squier E serial covers the period between 1984 & 87. Looks in not bad nick for a 40 year old bass, and the fact it's been hibernating for the last 30 years means apart from the odd knock & bump it probably has little actual play wear, and is unmolested/unmodified. Originality is a very good thing for the sort of weirdos who take an interest in this stuff. I should know. Value is always hard to be specific about as there's typically very little to compare to, and unfortunaterly this one's no exception. Would be good to know if it's a 32" scale like the one @Jean-Luc Pickguardlinked, or if it's a standard 34" - I did find a couple of 32" examples for sale in Japan at quite eye-wateringly unrealistic prices, however if it is the shorter scale it's likely more rare & worth a few more quid. The scale length is the distance between the two fixed points at either end of the open string.
  6. My duo has been working for around 30 years now without one rehearsal, ever! 😁

  8. This 100%. One of the reasons I always prefer Precisions over Jazz basses. My P-Lyte (PJ pickups) has a single volume plus a pan control which works fine for me.
  9. Hong Kong Garden - Siouxsie and The Banshees
  10. Think of the neck pickup volume as your master volume, and the bridge pickup volume as the "hollow twang" knob and you'll be ok leaving it turned down. Under no circumstances should the "hollow twang" knob be turned up on its own 😆
  11. When are Behringer releasing their clone?
  12. I’ve mostly been using green preset 1 and that covers a lot of ground for me. I’d still buy it even if that’s the only sound I can get out of. It’s so hard to get a nice “chowmph” that feels organic and responds to your technique but this one is the one that feels and sounds right for me. Even my 3leaf Trifecta can only do so much. I really like this pedal! Anyway, here’s a Filipino song where i’ve used it green preset 1: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DNaJDK4Tulh/?igsh=N2FrcG1jeDM0MTVl Let me know if you can view it.
  13. Another name for either a guitarist or a saxophone player
  14. Simply wire the pickup in parallel as it's what makes the sound of the Stingray (even the fiver model) coupled to the typical 2 bands EQ preamp that the Musikding classic preamp reproduces very well. The lower the total resistance of the pickup wired in parallel the closer to an original it will be.
  15. If you want a product made specifically for piano to MIDI conversion, then https://eldoraudio.com/products/piano-audio-to-midi gives shockingly accurate transcriptions.
  16. Earliest would be these ones on me playing in a university rock opera in about 1988 - party scene where we roped in audience members. Still got and play that Aria SB700. Most recent would be this one of me with my new Sandberg at a jam night a couple of months back…
  17. It totally depends on what you're looking for, flatwound strings can be really great sounding just like roundwound strings on any bass, not only Jazz Basses.
  18. No matter the size of venue or what music im playing, if the crowd is into it then it's a top gig.
  19. This journey, into bass playing? What made you pick up that first bass at the start of this long and winding road? Sold my beloved saxophone (Conn Connqueror 30M tenor) for food to Macaris in the early 80s and he offered a bass, compo amp at cost with the bulk in cash. I'd never played a bass before, but that was it. Do you still have the same fire and enthusiasm? Do you still love it? More so. Realised I enjoy the whole process of playing live music for people, more than I did many of the jobs I had that I retired from. What has changed along the way? Your taste in music, taste in basses? Both, taste in music and basses and gear generally got wider ! Both got wider in taste. Got more into covers, less than originals though it's a treat to play with a good singer-songwriter. Realised I can be better and get myself there. What was the first bass? A black Westone Thunder 1A And what’s the latest? An inexpensive black Thomann special (5-string fretless acoustic) with black nylon tapewounds.
  20. I just got back from a first session with a new rock and blues type band. We are all middle aged and up. The lady time I played bass in a band, the bass was by my knees, but now it's past my waist. I'm old....😩 I played a Sire V5 through a tech 21 VT Bass 500 head into an Orange OBC 115. Really nice sounding, but not a lot of projection at floor level. I might switch out for a TC Electronic k 212 (also a lot lighter). The material was pretty much all new to me; my background is punk and metal but I really miss playing. Some of the stuff had been really difficult to learn , and I need to work on my charting. I'm not sure if this will last, but I'm giving it a few practices to see if it gels.
  21. Thank you @Phil Starr. I think the Deltabass will be ok. I've got a gig on Friday almost immediately after work, and I'm working a long day tomorrow. I'll probably send a signal from my pedal board to the desk and use my cab and the deltabass for front of house. Thank you again. A lot of companies are trying this on lately. I had it when I bought a dehumidifier that was as loud as a Lightening Jet. "You have to send a video to demonstrate the problem". No, I'll send it back. You give me my money back.
  22. Fixed. OP did say politely, after all.
  23. Had a rehearsal today with the local pop classics and northern soul covers band with our new dep drummer which went really well for him. We covered a couple of sets. 2½ hours of playing, 2 hours chat!
  24. There sre no right answers as it all depends on what you want to achieve. I suggest you try a compressor before and after your pedal board and see what happens.
  25. Thanks for your comments-yes a truly beautiful looking and sounding bass.
  26. A big festival that goes brilliantly for the whole band, organisers and punters! Back to reality, for the pub and function gigs I'm doing... * a crowd, that nearly fills the place, that dance and with fun banter * no gear issues, operational or transport * bandmates can hear themselves and everyone else without going out ears ringing at the end too much * we all play really well, we entertain, we sound very good and get compliments * a few punters effusively enthusiastically book us for their function and others take our details * we get paid a bonus (very rare)
