  1. Past hour
  2. So after 3 months of waiting it’s arrived, I custom ordered a Precision Bass by Luca at Alnus Basses. (Insert joke about name here) There wasn’t an awful lot of information about them on the web, so set about tracking down owners across social media outlets, general consensus was he made lovely basses. I’ve always wanted a lime green metallic P Bass but Fender custom shop prices were out of reach for me especially when buying blind. I contacted Luca and gave him the specs I wanted and went through step by step with him in regard to colour shades/pickguard colours etc. I liked the fact he made the necks and bodies out of raw materials rather than pre made husks of the shelf, all paint/relicing and pickups were done in house and I liked the thought of a bass being built in a lovely Italian village (My family originates from Italy so this was a little piece of Italy). So for the result, it’s beautifully made and very resonant! The colour may not be to everyone’s tastes but I’m really happy with it, it needed a little setup to get it how I wanted it and it’s lovely. Just waiting for amp to warm up before plugging it in, if the pickup isn’t my bag I have a couple laying around including a Fender PV60 and Seymour Duncan Quarterpound. I will more than likely fit a badass 2 bridge to it aswell which I have spare.
  3. The Pedaltrain Nano is the smallest Pedaltrain currently available and perfect for the absolutely bare essentials: a tuner, overdrive and delay. Even guitarists with bigger pedalboards can benefit from a Nano loaded with their most essential pedals so in a pinch you'll never be without your core tone shapers, even if you have to catch a plane to get to the gig! The soft case makes it very light and portable while offering protection to your pedals. Has served me well and is in good condition as is the case, moved up to a Templeaudio board hence reason for selling. Price includes postage
  4. Rounds with a light overdrive works every time for me. Can't hurt to boost a little at around 200Hz either.
  5. For sale is my TC Electronic GMajor-2 multi effects unit in fully working condition and updated to the latest firmware. Pictures show it in its usual rack home (rack not included). Although most of the standard effects are aimed at the guitarist I have found the compressor, gate, flanger, phaser and octaver (up and down) etc. to be very useable for bass. I can either factory reset before shipping or leave the presets I have created intalled. It has built in EQ, noise gate, compressor, reverbs, delays, wahs, octaver, tremolo, phaser, flanger etc each of which can be switched in / out from the front panel as required. I have been using this via my amps effects loop and found the compressor (and all the effects) just add their effect without changing the fundamental sound of the bass. Comes with original box and operating manual. You can use the unit in your DAW as well as with your bass / guitar etc. Patches can be easily selected from the front panel or attach a midi-pedal (I used a MidiMoose). There is also some Vyzor software you can download from the net which allows you to interface your PC with the GMajor-2 to edit and backup your user patches. I have also attached the GMajor-2 and Vyzor manuals below. tc_electronic_g-major_2_manual_english.pdfVyzor_G-Major2_Quick-Start.pdf I estimate UK shipping about £10 to £15.

  7. Selling my mono tick as my board won’t fit anymore. Bought brand new from Andertons. Postage included!
  8. Thank you for sharing that. I am so used to bass guitars and my Boss TU2 footpedal, and my 30 year old acoustic guitar without an inbuilt tuner, that I hadn't realised that acoustic guitar technology had moved on. @Jack ignore my anachronistic comments about tuners. But i think that the guitarist should go old-school with a 1970s beard, and a silver jumpsuit.
  9. Well, I don't know the Hartwood. I do know the Harley Benton and that is absolutely excellent. Even the pickups are fine. It's not available in black ATM but if the colour isn't a huge issue, you can go for a seafoam green or daphne blue one. I'd definitely go for the HB.
  10. Hey there, thanks for asking. I'm going to be honest and say that the solid resin core necks don't offer any weight saving vs wood. I can make them lighter but then they become more resonant which means they might not sound as good...or they will need more R&D to offer lightweight and stay sounding fat. Fingerboards typically affect the metallic sounds in string attack, like fret noise, say 1.2Khz and above depending on other materials. If your standard for timbre is a maple neck then you could try a maple fingerboard on our necks and make sure the body has a significant proportion of maple (ideally softer maple) in it. Then you might still preserve some of those compressed qualities but with the advantages of graphite. EDIT: The best sounding bass I own is all maple - the Spector NS5CR. It's warm but not woofy, it's bright but not brittle and there is a little compression to the highs. So I totally get where you're coming from.
  11. Lovely, I’m sure this will be gone in a flash
  12. Behringer BDI21 should fit the bill.
  13. I did do a board of Boss compact pedals, it was quite addictive tryting to get the colourful collection. The Boss compact hardware is really good and I found there are certain pedals that Boss do really well: Tuner, compressor, limiter, chorus, flanger, octaver, space echo, and the BB1-X. .....but then I wasn't such a fan of things like the AW-3, SY-1, GEB-7, ODB-3, there are better (often cheaper) alternatives . So once I started using some other pedals (e.g. MXR envelope filter instead of the AW-3, Sine FX parametric EQ instead of the GEB-7 ) the whole idea sort of went out of the window.
  14. 😲😐 I can't see Arry or Maiden Holdings plc signing off on this utter tosh.
  15. For my band and previous band where we were a trio of musicians playing rock I made sure my bass sound was Full and loud so when guitarist soloed it sounded full as a band I play with a pick on a PBass and don’t need fx etc and learn to palm mute for quieter parts and let rip for loud parts. A good amp and decent cabs are all you need in my opinion and play like a bass / rhythm guitarist !
  16. Just a post in praise of the TI JR. Obv, not to your taste, and that is cool. But if anyone out there likes a nice, compliant string that is a bit (tiny bit) rubbery/bendy, then this is the set you are seeking.
  17. I know it is "limited", but it is impressive that Fender have elevated the Made in Mexico range to £1,700.
  18. That´s one of my favourite records ever! Very tasty bassplaying.
  19. I had thought of splitting and a P2. But I do not know if the P2 has enough gain to deal with mic level. Does anyone know?
  20. Back & Forth - Foo Fighters
  21. There's no need for a talkback mic for the soundguy, I'll just lean over on stage and talk to him. That sounds nice, thanks Matt I'll float that with him. As for the Studiospare I know what you mean, I'm not selling mine either.
  22. Wye - Eurythmics
  23. Yeah, to me that’s way too expensive for what it is.
  24. Really intriguing project you've got here. Echoing the question on weight of the jazz necks (and how much an ebony/rosewood board would impact that). Also interested in how you perceive the timbre comparing different fretboard materials. I like the way all-maple necks can appear to sound/feel a little compressed.
  25. Yup, looks like a cynical cash grab to me, unfortunately.
