Really beautiful bass, lovely colour, Smoked Almond?? (Gold), and a fab player. It’s in really great condition with just a couple of dings, nothing significant. All set up and ready to go: Brand new: Gotoh GB707 tuners, Dunlop Strap Buttons, Rotosound 45-105 strings. Freshly oiled fretboard too. I Can bring it to you (or meet halfway) within reason (I’m South of Manchester). I hate the post, so unless you’re in Cornwall or Canterbury I’m sure we can figure something out. I cover everywhere North of Birmingham with work, so up there is no problem. No case Thanks for looking 👍🏻

I've seen your dad's face @sascha peakman and all I can say is that he doesn't look that sympathetic at all, not the kind of person I would trust and I never made a single mistake with this feeling: It's all in the (here, frightening) look and attitude, you would be amazed all it can tell (In my profession, I received lessons on how to get to know people in less than a minute by coldly analyzing the data available). You were right to say all you said about who he really was and some people owe you some apologies. The problem is that we often only see the tip of the iceberg and, here, the other part is really scary. You have all my sympathy and I wish you all the best.

In a perfect world i'd have one of each. I really like ebony for a fingerboard and none of my current Spectors have one. I used to have a US 6er with ebony and really loved its response when tapping. @Sean thanks a lot, but I'm afraid he is right 🙂

Show me your 3 point replacement bridges hipshot/babicz
neepheid replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Babicz and Hipshot are the only ones which spring to mind. The makers of lower priced hardware make money because of selling in large volumes - making a three point replacement doesn't fit into this kind of model because it's just not called for that much. You can fit any bridge you like to whichever bass you like, but as you recognise, it won't a straight drop in. A lot of work just to get away from a bridge which basically works just fine and it's just fashionable to rag on it IMO. There are worse bridges out there (even if Gibson made about half of them, lol). I don't think you'll notice a change from 17.7mm to 18mm string spacing. We're talking the outside strings being less than half a mm further out from where they are now. Height might be an issue - the three pointer does sit quite high. You also don't mention what bass this is on? Flat top or carved? Are the bridge post ferrules flush with the top of the body or sitting proud? But at the most basic level, I'd say that if you "hate" the three pointer that much then put your money where your displeasure is and buy one of the drop in replacements. -
GK Legacy800 Head, LFSys Monaco cab & my Spector Pulse II bass. My best/most valuable Spectors don't come out on pub gigs... I save them for theatres, big clubs etc. With another band I play with (doing more 70's punkier stuff and Bowie etc) I use a P bass.... With a wedding band I dep for I tend to play my Betsy as there's a bit more disco/pop.

its always been a pleasure, almost a safe ish bet selling on here, luckily i have never had a problem and i have shifted a fair few items and basses, on here, as well as buying stuff, even down to doing a Wal swap from a member in germany ! (imagine how nerve-wracking that was) but yea, all thanks to just this sort of scrutiny by the mods, yall do a great job, well worth the selling fee for that alone. that does not mean put it up by the way 🙂 cheers guys.

Curious what gear you use in a pub band @cetera ? I'm guessing a GK rig but what bass ? Dave

Just to resurrect an old thread...... Is it just Babicz and Hipshot that make a replacement for the 3 point bridge? I'm just looking around and am surprised there isn't a generic drop in or Wilkinson don't make one seeing as it's a much maligned piece of equipment. I'm about to ask a stupid question, but here goes........is it possible to buy something like this and drop it in? https://northwestguitars.co.uk/collections/bass-bridges/products/4-string-bass-guitar-bridge-dual-load-bb404 I know it won't be a straight drop in and will need new holes drilling, but what else would I need to think about besides...... - Getting the string spacing as close to the original. Is there a 'safe' amount of leeway to give here? I think the 3 point has something like a 17.7mm string spacing, would a bridge with 18mm be OK? - The height of the bridge. Would any 'generic' bridge like the above need a plate underneath it like the Babicz? Or will there be enough headroom to raise the saddles to get the action OK? -

FOR SALE/TRADE, 2016 Fender MIM Standard Jazz Bass finished in Candy Apple Red *Mint Condition* Never Gigged! This lovely 2016 Candy Apple Red Standard Jazz has led a sheltered life. Bought new by an old client of mine (I taught his daughter about 25 years ago) and never gigged. It has instead lived in it's gig bag under a bed. Even the Volume/Tone knobs feel tight and new. Now it deserves to be played. It has a lovely glossed and figured Maple Fingerboard, and seems punchier than the later Player models (produced from 2018). It will be set up nicely for the buyer and comes with a generic Gig Bag. This bass has literally no scratches or dings anywhere, like it's been in a 9 year time warp. Priced fairly at £450. (A current similar Mexican Player II model will set you back £799!) Trades welcome with a little money possible each way. Buyer to collect from Derbyshire DE7, or will happily meet halfway at a distance up to 100 miles.
