  1. Past hour
  2. Looking good Stevie. You suit the Stingray, and as for that tartan suit, well what can i say. Band is sounding great as expected from your bands. You're definitely putting me in the mood for a Stingray. Dave
  3. I've been encouraged to go supercardiod. I have a Superlux PRA D1n which was dirt cheap. Just read some reviews and consensus seems to be it's comparable with an SM58 beta. So... I'll pack it with my SM58 and try it. My I only do bvs anyway (although I was singing the fifth in three part harmony tonight, for the very first time at a rehearsal!)
  4. Jeez that was really quite pretentious wasn’t it 😂
  5. My take on string selection is that they’re one component of a tripartite system - strings, instrument, player. I love Gamuts on my 4/4, and if I play my Evahs the same way on the same instrument they don’t work for me. But if I back right off on the Evahs and use more pad and less bone in the finger, I can get close(r) to that lovely airy tone. I don’t think there’ one string to rule them all, just a moving triangle of parameters 👍
  6. And mine's full-colour 🙂
  7. What area are you in?
  8. Thanks Beedster I admit that am a bit behind the curve and I am sure it will pass once the first string breaks on a gig 😂
  9. You're welcome, Dunc! GLWTS!
  10. Great little cab, I love mine
  11. I had the stereo and sold it. Regretted it and bought the mono. It really is the Swiss Army knife of amp world. I’ve got a Markbass Evo 1 to try out at the moment which basically, has the Multiamp amps and effects but has two independent channels, which is exactly what I need. I think it’s what I’ve been looking for, for a long time 😁
  12. Nice grain on the neck. 👍🏼
  13. Keith McMillen KMI 12 Step and MIDI Expander This is the original KMI 12 Step Controller. It can be used as a set of bass pedals, to trigger chords, samples or even drum sounds. I’ve used it with a variety of synth modules for adding strings and organ for live gigs. I’m now playing more keyboards live so I’ve gone back to my Hammond bass pedals. There is software online to hook it up to a computer or iPad but I’ve always used it with hardware and it has done the job really well. I’ve colour coded the ins and outs with tape but can remove if required I’ve also taped the note names on the unit as I found it easier to see live. I used masking tape so it’s easy to remove without much residue to clean. KMI has now been rebranded as Muse Kinetics since Keith McMillen sadly died last year. Support is still available for all the KMI branded versions of their products. It’s really small and neat compared to a traditional bass pedal controller and weighs next to nothing. The unit itself is slim and made from woven carbon fibre. I have the original (tatty) packaging for both the pedals and the expander. I’ve included a link so you can see what it does. The Mark 2 version retails at around £435 street. The included MIDI expander was bought separately for £65 as I wanted to integrate it with my outboard hardware rather than use it with my computer. Postage at buyer’s cost UK only. No trades.
  14. Yes. I’ve heard his story about it & the bass sounds good. I won’t be encouraging anobium punctatum to infest any of mine!
  15. Today
  16. Crackling Rosie- Neil Diamond
  17. Great basses these, I’ve got the same and stupidly sold a sonic blue one as well. someone buy it
  18. I used Laballa DTB’s for years until reading how good TI’s were, and buying a set. I like them. But I recently became aware they didn’t seem to suit the jazz so much. Just a bit too bright for me. And I think the same for the Stingray, but other Stingray users might like them. They work really well on my Medium scale Aria and are fine on my Ibanez SR.
  19. Up for sale is my 2013 Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Classic 4-string in Vintage Sunburst with a stunning AAA flamed / birdseye maple neck. This is one of the nicest figured Classic necks I’ve seen and the figuring runs all the way up the neck and headstock. Music Man confirmed the spec via their database (see screenshot) I’d conservatively describe as excellent but most people would use mint condition with only home practise use. No gigs, no marks, no issues. It plays beautifully, set up low with no buzz. Comes with some nice extras: Hipshot D-Tuner professionally fitted Original Music Man tuner included in the case Both black and white pickguards Original Music Man hard case Case candy (strap locks, keys etc) Specs 2-EQ Classic preamp Classic mute bridge in perfect working order Chrome hardware Weight: 4.5kg / 9.9 lbs These 2010–2014 Classics are becoming increasingly sought after, especially the ones with premium neck figuring. Prices are rising, and very few clean UK examples come up with this level of figuring. Only selling because I’m downsizing and moving to a Precision for home practice. Price £2,395. Folk are listing these with meh necks, damage and scratches and no extras like Hipshots and extra scratch plates on Reverb for more than this. Dealers would be way above this for a similar example. Open to sensible offers. Bass is located in Central Scotland handy for all major motorway networks, happy to meet within reasonable distance (I have rendezvoused with fellow Basschatters in the North of England before). Happy to discuss shipping with buyer, would prefer to remain within UK at this stage. Feedback I have excellent feedback on Basschat from many years on here, my latest deal being for my 78 Tony Franklin fretless with Beedster the forum legend who was delighted, so buy with confidence. Cheers.
  20. Price drop to £650. A lot of amp for the money.
  21. How do they compare with the TI’s? I’ve got them on two basses and love them. I see lots of positive comments on la Bella strings but have yet to play any. Flats are tough to experiment with due to the cost.
  22. The latest iteration of my board while I wait for my MXR Bass Synth pedal to arrive. The Dunlop 68 Shrine series uni-vibe I bought at the weekend on a whim. I've just been in a Hendrix / blues band so I couldn't resist it. It does however sound surprisingly good on bass with the sweep on min and the depth on max... almost like a phasor. The bodyrez I use on the EUB and I've really got the death ray dialled in now.
