Online purchase and courier potential nightmare!
BassAdder60 replied to bigthumb's topic in General Discussion
A really big issue is boxes arriving but goods are not in box !! This was happening with Amazon deliveries where hi tech stuff was removed and replaced by screwed up paper etc and sent to the recipient! Parcel has been delivered and that’s got a POD but nothing in the box !! We have all manner of shipping disputes where the weight of the parcel and known weight of the goods is one way of determining all items were or should be in the box Suppliers have a responsibility though and should always make good 👍 -

Bought a phone from Tom, knowing of his reputation (see above!). I wasn't disappointed - great chap, very responsive and the phone is fab too! Thoroughly recommended, thanks Tom 👍

In my old blues rock trio I used to do the MC stuff. I'd always start with 'We are called Toredown. If you've seen us before we have some new tunes. Probably some new mistakes. (pause) But the same old jokes'. 'If you haven't seen us before we go something like this'... the launch into it straight off. We found that the more blues rock orientated punters liked to know something about the songs, especially the more unusual ones - what they were called, who they were by. Not each time. At one point in the gig guitarist Alan would change guitars and, if it was the right kind of crowd, I'd say something like 'There are always people who come to live music who are interested in the gear we use so while Alan is changing guitars I'll just take this opportunity to talk about his stufff. Earlier he was using a cream coloured guitar with two pointy bits and is now changing to a caramel coloured guitar with one pointy bit (pause) It's small details like that can make an evening, I find'. It usually got a titter.

Westone "The Rail" Bass - DOA - Now a minimal bass
basexperience replied to rwillett's topic in Bass Guitars
They’re definitely more a studio thing for me, but they’ll quickly dial up some harmonic differences with the various in phase / out of phase possibilities. Only slight allowance I have to make is not to get too enthusiastic with my thumb and catch a micro switch on the neck pickup. I love them! -
That makes a statement!

To me, and it is my opinion only, the scarcity of Rolls products in the UK, price and the fact that it needs an external PSU, would rule this out for me , especially as it is many times more expensive.

Thanks. It is 20mm and sits in a Behringer 19" rack 4 x DI unit at the mains inlet. In my naive way, I expected google to come up with 70 gazillion options to buy if I typed the numbers in. But the only match I got was a US ebay listing.

Yeh, I thought about the bridge, its just a bit too old to have it (6 years), but I will leave it to see if it annoys me before getting one.
-
This might sound obvious but there are loads of pedals (some very cheap, some less so) with features built in that can create the 'effect' you are looking to create. Why not simply run a mono signal into a Zoom MS60 (£50-£60 used) and use a Doubler... you achieve the effect without the headache of splitting/effecting/blending.

Many of us in the south west did a 1 day maintainance course with fret leveling a few years back* when they were starting up - Ben came to one of our early bass bashes. It was very good and would have always liked to do the building course but it is just getting a week to go! * Of course, when I say 'a few years' that means 11! edit - I looked for the original thread for it, but it suffered in the old Photobucucket purge of 2016!
-
Yes, I'd recommend it to anyone. I'll get my coat...

With original box, sticker and quick start guide Little bit of fluffy velcro on end which is where I used to stick a battery when using it with my battery powered PJB set up It's mini size pedal, super versatile unit, especially if you really understand compression and are prepared to spend time making your own set up(s), Doods review on YT covers it well; software and preloads available from TC website And it is simple to use, just one knob, in conjunction with the phone app playing a tone through the pickup on your instrument to switch between the many 'name' and general preloads, find the one you like and adjust how much, ideal for when the band or the Sound Engineer says have you got compression/you should have compression Price include UK postage with Royal Mail 48
