A couple from me. April 2025: Playing my Fender Japan 60's Precision with Andrew Maxwell Morris at The Bedford in Balham as a pre Glastonbury warm up gig. April 2025: Playing my fretless Fender Japan 62RI Jazz with the Tim Shez band 2025. Playing John Giblin's fretless Precision. -

Thank you they were massively up for it from the start, I really enjoyed myself

I like it at the end of the fretboard like this. It's unusual and visible.

There are 2 versions of the editor in the Pro model. They work in slightly different ways. I think it is o.k. but not brilliant. It's really useful in your lyrics section to mark things as intro, verse 1, bridge etc. as then it allows you to more easily make changes to the section you want. Alternatively just do a cover of the song and vary the style or audio percentage so it is regenerating something almost identical, as I find more issues with clipping etc. than producing something musically horrible. This is also useful to do when changing the lyrics if they haven't been performed in the way you want. Definitely have a play with Personas if you want to produce an album with a consistent singer.

Basschat on Tour! Tell us your stories of being on the road?

Our Singer usually goes home after gig's even out of towners for various reasons. But we had one last year and he'd saved up and we all got our own rooms in a nice hotel. He wouldn't shut up about how much he was looking forward to the big comfy hotel bed. Great gig, barman said he couldn't pay us (we knew that anyway) but could give us a 1.5L bottle of Jack Daniels from out the back as payment. 60 shots worth. So we drank that.... Anyway, he got back to the hotel room, he fell through the door and passed out on the floor. Waking up in the morning next to a still made, luxury bed. 🤣 -

Pete Townsend take a back seat! Have you got one of those mini-trampolines Nils Lofgren used to use? -
Ah fair play, I thought you had used standard Titebond. I have taken to keeping a little jar of hide glue granules in my cupboard, for the infrequent moments when a seam opens up. They don't dry out!

Advice from Cambridge-based bassists needed!
urbanx replied to TKenrick's topic in General Discussion
Oooh that's me! I'm a bassist from Cambridge! There's quite a few open mics and bits and bobs around. Village pubs are possibly better than the city. The Cambridge music scene has gone downhill in the last few years, due to venue closures, but there's still a couple of blinding venues! Let me know if you want anything specific (there is one to avoid, but I'm not going to publicly shame them here lol) -

I now have 3 Peaveys in my collection. I started with a Cirrus BXP 5 as I felt I needed a 5-stringer. I then bought a Peavey Rudy Sarzo I've just bought a Cirrus BXP 4, which is by far the lightest, but also sounds great and is lovely to play.

I made that choice too, though my mates wanted to see the Prodigy and I was torn between the two. It was a great call, we had an awesome night.

“Rush” UK Tour March 2027

I was frustrated by this on my first attempt. There were 5 of us that wanted to go on the Thursday. When I logged in, there were 5 left in one row in a reasonable position and I stuck them all in my cart thereby selling out the row. It wouldn’t let me do it for the same reason. Well, the warning was the same, but it didn’t matter how I edited my basket, it wouldn't let me buy them. I ended having to come out and go back in again to do it another way 🤷♂️ -

“Rush” UK Tour March 2027

I love Rush, especially the first decade of stuff. Saw them way back when in Leeds (Permanent Waves tour?) but haven't ventured to repeat. I'm afraid I hate arena gigs these days, they leave me cold and uninvolved so I doubt I'll make an exception this time around. -
How was your open mic or jam night last night?
martthebass replied to tauzero's topic in General Discussion
Had one of those about 10 years ago - thought I was having a bloody stroke..... -
Yeah I found a great seat but also had to buy two which went up to £850 ! (Before admin & insurance) I managed to find a single seat (albeit further away) but still the most I’ve ever paid for a gig lol Manchester AO

It is very cool. Clouds is an immense piece of kit, and jamming the whole thing into a pedal is frankly bonkers. It’s easy to get lost… but it sounds absolutely lush. I withdrew it as there are some granular vibes in here I just couldn’t get from other pedals, but I really need to slim the herd a bit!

I do hope you like Rosewood & Mahogany...

These are fantastic instruments, but I've never seen one that's light enough for my back, so I'll just have to look at the pictures. If Chris May brought out a Super Light series I'd have several in a heart beat. -
But I haven't. First new notification since I thought I'd sorted it and the pleading box is back. This time I've clicked the "x" in the top corner. Hopefully that will work...

On the one hand, I like that analogue effects pedals are tough, do a specific job, hold their value second hand - buy a second hand Phase 90 today and you could reasonably expect to use it for 10 years and then still be able to sell it for similar price. That is so much better than the 'pay monthly to never actually own it' thing of some digital stuff, and the fact that most of the hardware needed (Laptops/iPads etc) have about 5 years of udtates before they start being a bit useless and worthless. But on the other hand, something like 'loopy pro' just via an iPhone or iPad seems light years ahead of almost any looper pedal: Payday is approaching, as is my next gig, and I only have a tuner pedal at the moment (and Amp with compressor, drive, EQ). So I've got the choice of: Stick: Keep what I've got (but where's the fun in that?!) Go backwards: Re-treading the multi-fx/ individual pedals route (potentially costing £ hundreds, but is the stuff specifically designed for this task and has resale value) Look to the future! Use my iPad and audio interface (Volt 2), and use virtual pedalboard apps like Tonex ,BiasFX2, (and stuff like Loopy Pro). And a wireless midi footswitch like the Boss FS-1 WL. So as I already have the iPad and interface in the short-term at least that costs me about £130 for the FS-1 and apps. I am keen on this option mostly out of curiosity and short-term cost saving and portability, my main hesitation is a practical one of wanting a stompable mute/tuner where I can stomp and then view the tuning - ideally without keeping my tuner pedal wired up as that is the start of just might as well having a small pedalboard. I'm sure I can set the Boss FS-1 to have a tuner/mute command to the iPad app but the practical issue is where do I put the iPad to be able to see this? Not a big deal as I suppose it can sit on top of the amp, but that feels a bit precarious (probably a job for the velcro tape). The audio interface has a 'direct' button, so if the iPad plays up I can just instantly bypass it and go direct from the inteface to amp so the risks of messing up live are hopefully quite manageable.

Ive always found at Glastonbury its great when there's an enormous act on the main stage, it makes it easy to get to the front at any of the other stages. Ive never enjoyed performances on the pyramid stage, its too big there and even if you get to the front you're still a long way from the stage and sound isn't great at the front
