FlatsOff started following Dingwall Super J - £3000
-
Excellent, I'd like to try one of those. Here's my board...
-
Pearloid material arrived and I got the jitters 😀 Get one chance cutting plastic, likelihood of failure was high 🙁 Thought about ordering up a blank scratchplate, having a custom one cut, getting a pickup template made; anything to avoid cutting plastic 😁 Stern talking to and I came to my senses. Scratch plate cut 😀

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Obrienp replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Cool looking bass! One you would actually want to own and play. Mine was a short scale Vox. I think it was called a Clubman or similar. It had two surfy looking chrome covered pickups and an ashtray bridge cover. It got off loaded onto me by a school friend who had decided he wanted to play drums instead. I had not idea about scale lengths, truss rods, or intonation. I remember it being horrendously out most of the time but I had no idea how to fix it. After leaving that school band, I didn’t touch a bass again until I was in my 60s, the experience was so traumatic. I definitely would not want to buy that bass back! -

The amp is in excellent condition - it's super quiet and has everything you need for great bass tone. Complete with EICH carry bag, power cable and Speakon cable. According to EICH "The ultra-compact T-series amps stand out by their power, punch and drive. You will experience every nuance of your playing in a totally new and distinct way – completely unaltered but with lots of punch, just the way you like it. Laney Nexus Tube & Nexus 8x10 with Flight Case...

Same here, you can’t beat it, if I had the space (which I’m working on) I’d have the biggest Ampeg rig I could get -
Main purchase was lipstick pickups. I had 3 in the drawer for an un-yet started Dano build. Buying a 4th was complicated, the 3 Dano lipsticks came from Ali-Ex several years back so the chances of finding a matching 4th were slim. I also had a slight concern regards polarity. Artec came to the rescue by selling Strat lipstick pickups where the middle pickup was RWRP. 2 Bridge and 2 Middle were ordered. A wee play-about in Photoshop showed me just placing them next to each other wasn't going to work. What I really needed was 52mm between the top adjusting screws and 54mm between the bottom screws. Drawing on paper followed while I waited on the pearloid scratch plate material arriving.

Had the main elements for the bass at hand. A Paulownia P-bass body and maple neck purchased from @tom1946 a year maybe 2 years back. The body is nice and light plus Paulownia is dead easy to work with 👍 All I had to to was copy the scratch plate, cut out the pickups and a wee bit router work to the body.

Each to their own pal. You're not right and you're not wrong. You do you, I'll do me and the other guy can do him. All the above is great for you. I like a big rig so humbug to your response! 😜 -

Great stuff - Saw British Lion in Carlisle, so a bit of a shame they didnt come back for a 3rd tour 😔. I really enjoyed it. The new signature p sucks big time. -

Given my taste in P-basses runs counter to the norm it's no surprise those Italia basses from a few years back caught my eye. Pity I never got my hands on one and the ones I've saw recently have daft prices😕 When faced with daft prices I went with my default setting of "I can do that" 😀

For sale lovely birch green Fender player 2 i bought early this year and have recently been using this or P bass to see what fits what i'm doing and the P bass has won - for that middy growl. Have bought a Squire CV Jag as back up - so now this faces being an occasional bass and it's a great player, so should be someones to use. Made in Mexico these are now really good little basses. Great QC Had luthier sort the frets, which he levelled and ran glue under each to make sure they pinged and bevelled off the slightly rough edges, basically your getting a Plex job but done by the hands of someone with 40 years experience. So now with the rolled edge finger board, satin finish, it is great to play. Dark rosewood board, with maple neck, the body colour looks even better IRL. Weighs about 8.5lb but balances great. So lightweight and versatile. Strung with new Ernie Ball Super Slinky 40-100 - very nice action. Very useable pickups. Comfortable bridge for palm muting. Priced to sell - collect from Clitheroe or meet up or can post to UK in box for £20

Looks great. Some clay dots would had been the proverbial icing... and complimented the colours.

Id still love to try the Tone X one, but it seems more hassle and expense to get the Chocolate Plus working with it.
