Yes, by far the best one. Didn't know much about Nate Mendel but an articulate and interesting chap. -

Hard to know what icon to put on that. I hope everything goes right and you aren't put through the mill too much on the journey to recovery. Keep gigging and share your stories.

Just watched episode 3 with Nate and that was so much better. It was more about the bass and the bass lines rather than 'look at me, I'm interesting' like the other two main bassists. In hindsight, I think the producers should have focused on three different styles of bass and perhaps done an episode with Bootsy, Mark King, Guy Pratt, Gail Ann Dorsey, Daryl Jones, Norman (Fat Boy Slim), the reggae bassist and the other black guy and focused on Funk, Disco, Dance, Pop, Motown, Soul and Reggae and the styles and great bassists that influenced those genres. See if you can get other bassists involved like Stuart Zender, Flea, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten involved or talked about. Then another episode with Nate, Melissa, Hooky, Glen Matlock, Adam Clayton, Krist from Nirvana, Alex James, Mani, the girl bassist and focus on indie, punk, rock, grunge, metal and show the bits about John Entwistle, Jack Bruce, Queen etc. Try and get bassists like Geddy, Sting, Robert Trujillo and probably a whole bunch of other bassists who I can't remember involved. Then another episode to focus on everything else bass related like the history of bass and technique which they touched on like slap, fretless, pick playing and different styles. Also discuss equipment so the P-Bass, double bass, uke basses, amps, pedals and everyone who contributed in the other episodes can add there little bit, for example, Mark King showing slap and Nate showing playing with a pick etc. -

Thought this episode was very good. I’m not a particular Foo Fighters fan but they’re my kind of music so nice to see Nate go through his stuff. -

For £300 you can get 6-8 LED PAR cans, two mini moving spotlights and a dmx controller (TEMU), xlr cables, and a pair of t-bar stands (CPC). I know you can because I did.

Who is the dude with the steinberger who appears in the intro? Does he even appear across the three programmes? I thought it was jazz bassist Jamaaladeen Tacuma but maybe too young? 🤔 -

Yeah, Rockboard should be easier as it’s only a single layer. I do have the dremel to tidy it up a bit though. Just can’t decide if I should mount the Mod 1 patchboy or individual IEC, XLR and 1/4 jack sockets. At least the individual ones can go on the sides and should leave more space for my Sansamp and Cioks underneath.

How was my gig last night? I have no idea, I wasn’t there. It was the first one I’ve ever missed since this band started around 20 years ago. A dep was in my place even though I was fit and able. Keen readers my remember I mentioned I had a colonoscopy a few weeks ago and the results weren’t what I hoped for. I’ve since found out it’s not good news at all. There’s no easy way to say it, but it’s proving cathartic to share, so here goes. It’s cancer, of the rectal variety. I told my band mates at the time of the first investigation before knowing it was cancer that it will likely mean surgery and treatment very quickly, possibly before Xmas, so they had to organise cover in case I was out of action. The chap they got for a couple of gigs said he had other offers for the same dates, so had to commit, meaning I couldn’t do them whether I was able or not (unless was paid him off). It was probably for the best though, my head as been all over the place the last few weeks dealing with this. So anyway, it looks like a rough few months ahead. Radio and chemo therapies followed by surgery, and possibly more chemo after that. Oh and a bag atttached, either temporary or permanent. Sorry to bring the mood down, but this is the thread I interact with the most with people I know. Besides, I’m still hoping to continue to contribute to the thread with any gigs I am able to do over the next few months, and long after once I’m cured and normality is resumed.

Nothing irrational with that. In fairness I can enjoy other small, folkie stringed instruments as much as the next person. In moderation and in the right environment (ie typically an Irish bar with the Guinness flowing like water) But not ukuleles, and absolutely, definitely, without any question whatsoever. Not banjos.

I'd have a look at the Harley Benton Kits, lots of praise for the Harley B... Rosewell Pups? This looks a bit of fun! https://harleybenton.com/product/electric-guitar-kit-square/

Hi all, I aquired this in a trade a few months back, but I'm mainly using 'in ears' and not really using it. A fantastic Cab, possibly the best 112 I've ever played through - but I need cash to fund something else at the moment. There is a mark on the bottom captured in one of the pics, but otherwise in mint condition. Comes with cover. Swindon based. £350. Thanks Freddie

We're finding this big time on the tribute circuit. There are certain parts of the country where we can pull 250 plus and make pretty decent money, but there are other towns where we struggle to get 50 punters through the doors and are playing for not that much more than pub rock gig money. It's not just us by any means, I've got mates who run venues and they are struggling to make putting on live music cover the bills.
