  2. Over the years, I've video reviewed or tried out pretty much the entire EBS range, sadly not a Fafner! I think in terms of clean tone, they may be quite similar, but the Fafner II does have a separate drive preamp' section wheras the 802 does not. The EBS MicroBass III takes those elements from the 2 channel Fafner and squeezes those in to a pedal, so I would assume that having an 802 and MicroBass III would do just the right amount of damage. I do really rate the MB3 too.
  3. Yes, me too. I have a 34” scale Sigma ABG and have the same issue of being 2 frets sharp if I’m not concentrating. The answer for me has just been practice and regular use at our weekly village guitar club where I back local singer - songwriters. I’m usually doing a mixture of playing by ear and watching their hands as I don’t know the songs so it takes my mind off focussing on myself and I’ve just got used to it over time. I doubt a short scale would give me the tone & volume I need acoustically.
  4. They strike me as a sort of bastárdised Bellowhead/Fisherman's Friends mashup without the appeal or the ability of either. And they make for quite horrifying reading.
  5. Price drop to £515. Same awesome bass, new improved price! Happy to answer any questions.
  6. You can only try, I'm in my 70's & would not be playing without the Torzal....best Bernard
  7. That 802 looks amazing, much of a difference to the old Fafner do you think?
  8. This argument is adding nothing to the topic. If you wish to continue the frank exchange of views, please do so via PMs.
  9. For IEMs, I prefer to have a limiter in the chain somewhere before noise hits my ears too, especially useful for those bands that get louder and louder as the night goes on! Your ears will thank you!
  10. I would be delighted to meet you & provide hay & water for the mare!!! & you will love the torzal...best...Bernard

  12. I love my Trace Elliot, it just won't do both my cabs at the same time, I was looking at using a PPA300 and the preamp out from my AH300, too much hassle though, and that's when I came across the Fafner. I'm just getting used to the settings on it, I backed off the drive at the last gig because I prefer a clean sound, think I have the mids where I want them and it sounds pretty good to me now. Not too bothered whether the red light works or not, if it packs in I probably won't worry about replacing it. Any brand of tube you'd recommend for the preamp? I have a feeling I'll only have enough room for the Super Compact at tonights gig so I'll see how it goes into 8 ohms, I'm pretty sure it'll be plenty loud enough!
  13. I cut my strings at a random point somewhere near (but not too near) the end. I hope that helps 😀
  14. @0175westwood29 When you sell an item, please add the word SOLD to the subject title.
  15. This little guy arrived earlier today and I'm already in love! It runs a 6AS6 valve and sounds great as a drive, a boost, etc but I reckon I'll use it more as an always-on pedal when going direct to add a bit of warmth. Ordered from Netherlands on Thurs and on my doorstep Saturday morning, not bad! https://www.singularaudio.nl/shop/tubedrvepedal/

  16. I’m late to this but have just stumbled across the SP1 5 string on Bass Direct’s website so I’m looking forward to playing one. I also need a light bass - just under 9lbs ideally - but this is ticking a lot of boxes for me.
  17. Great chance to get an awesome shorty at a reasonable price. Any questions, just ask.
  18. Thanks all - this is good stuff. I like the idea of filtering out the clatter!
  19. Hi everyone! Selling my Hamstead Subspace. Absolutely incredible drive pedal but I just don’t have a need for it anymore. Virtually brand new and never gigged as only bought recently. Looking for £200 collected from NW London but happy to ship for a bit extra to cover postage! Just let me know where you’re based and I’ll total it up. James
  20. I have its little brother the Minnow and love it. This is a superb bit of kit at a very good price. GLWTS.
  21. I’m biased and would recommend a Moon 😊. Early 90’s will likely have the Fender-style headstock and may be on the heavy side if ash bodied. The Moon Blackbird pre is simple and hi-fi quality, if that is your thing. It does 70s jazz sound in spades! Either way, an enviable situation and choice.
  22. I do like that. Mad but cool. Absolutely love that neck marker design. Reminds me of space somehow.
  23. Hola, For those using a Stomp with the Hotone 2 button switch this is a great replacement TRS cable: MXR 12” TRS The cable that came with the switch failed after like 14 months and I found some TRS’s don’t work. The people at Guitarguitar Camden were really helpful and happy to get some into stock so I could try it before I parted with any cash. So a big shout out for their customer service! And they have at least another one there if anyone needs one!
