I don't think your brain would notice ears being out of phase as that happens all the time with sounds arriving at one ear before the other.

Hmmm... We've got balanced mono aux outputs as previously noted. We've got and used a 1/4" TS to 3.5mm TRS adapter jacks (the lower silver jack in pic) to allow us to plug in to the desk to deal with the issues that Woody mentioned. What stumps me though is why we're getting equally good results with 1/4" TRS to 3.5mm TRS stereo adapters (upper jack), with standard IEM headphones with standard 3.5mm TRS jacks?! So we're using either without issue.
-
Given that’s the case and with you being in metal bands I’d be tempted to go BEAD. Loved my time playing in that tuning for a few years.
-
Absolutely not. If you connect to a TRS you have a balanced output, and a ground. The signal (a mono one) is amplified in some IEM amplifier, the ground maybe connected to the hardware ground, or isn't, it doesn't matter. that is the correct way. If you connect a mono source to a stereo output, you need to sum both stereo lines to that mono line. The way you are doing if you are putting a mono source into a stereo headphone, both sides are 180 degrees out of phase with each other. I have an X18, not an XR18, they are all TRS (and a headphone out). But they are aux line level out so it would have never occured to me to put them into a headphone! (and the normal aux I used was a TRS plug to an XLR socket. Absolutely. In fact any 'normal'* IEM system would expect a balanced mono, the same as most other XLR use in gigging Maybe you don't notice the phase or there is that thing that people mentioned on the CQ settings that lets you set it as a headphone out (or maybe headphone stereo). * the P2 has a stereo switch and allows you to use it as a stereo.

I’m pretty much the same, rarely use the G, preferring the thicker sounding notes of the A & D strings. On some songs this isn’t practical but whenever possible avoid the G.

If I didn't use the G I'd replace it with another E the same octave as the regular E. May as well have a spare ready to go.

If anyone is looking for a cheapish but good 2x12, Promenade Music has a Gallien-Krueger 212 Neo cab in secondhand and I think it could be had for around £250.

I'll be about £5 for a pre-cut pack of 24 but I'm pretty sure I can scrounge a 2" offcut from Mark at Bonnywood. Was fixing a butchered Concord started me off building and repairing basses 🙂

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Sambrook replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
I have one, and love it deeply. It is thumpy, particularly with my TI flats, but I use a high pass filter/splitter to get acceptable brightness... I also added a 'bridge' pickup to get tighter tones, and now it's a monster. -

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
RichT replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
I admit I've looked at this one more than once... I eventually decided that the placement of the bridge and top strap button being at the 16th fret is going to push the nut further out, and make the 30" scale feel more like a 34". Don't know if it'd be much different in that respect to the way a Hofner HCT Club sits with regard to reach to the first fret. Anyone have any experience with the Italia bass or have any thoughts? -

On the way to achieve my complete short scale transition, by offering a sister so my Sire U5: an Ibanez ehb1000s is heading to me. 😎 This duet will be my #1 arsenal from now on. -
I own a Rob Allen and took it to a bass bash, where Jabba had some of his creations. They were at least on a par with Mr Allen’s work, I was really impressed.

How would you adjust the volume from the other side of the stage or away from the mixer?
